Many people are asking why the Maxwell isn't in this video, which is a great indicator of how successful it has been. The Maxwell is an amazing headset, and easily one of my favorites of all time. Specifically in the context of positional tracking/footsteps/imaging performance, the Nova Pro and Stealth Pro do a slightly better job, that's all. The Maxwell will be featured in other videos coming up though, as overall, it's an exceptional headset with many other pros to it! Please note - I use the Maxwell all the time. I would still use it as a general purpose headset, FPS games included.
Purchased Acezone Aspire thru your Link! i want to try them anyways, bc they seem lightweight and small profile, like my A40's. are you saying the MM100 is better than maxwell for footsteps or the same?. and you said Model One are the best at image-ing footsteps, period? and for wireless/digital would be Stealth pro or Nova Pro? where does that put Acezone? isnt their whole schtick that they are the best for imaging footsteps? are you saying or implying that the Stealth Pro and Nova Pro are BOTH better than Acezone at footsteps?
I was wondering about the omission myself because I have been eyeing up the Maxwell. I primarily use for FPS games, so I am torn a bit. I have seen other reviews saying the one newer turtle beach one stealth pro has better footstep audio.
@ItsBozzy I'm so biased against Turtle Beach for over a decade. Bc they use to be such garbage. You always new right away someone with Turtle Beaches, bc their mics would rock around and sound like they are on a boat or something.
@@mz1929 , honestly I am biased myself never thought of them as a high end company. I will more than likely get the maxwell. They just seem like a value at that price considering other uses.

Love the fps specific video. Glad you made this, now I have a new video to refer my friends too! Surprised to see the MM-100s on there. Will have to go back and watch that review.
For those interested in the high end, it’s worth noting that you can find some crazy used deals from time to time on things like the Arya, Focal Clear, hd800s, hd8xx. For fps, the Arya, 800s, and 8xx are phenomenal picks. I found a set of sticker modded 8xx (basically 800s) for $599 in excellent condition. I wouldn’t buy something this expensive exclusively for gaming, but for music listening + gaming they are incredible. Once you get high enough on price with gaming headsets, used high end audiophile headphones are definitely worth considering, and they hold their value over time
@@Theeletricminers I don't play COD, so I haven't tested it. EQ probably is the problem there. Surely something like the Aria would be fantastic for that though. Nice comparison, I am using the Audio Technica ATH-GDL3 and I have to say that I find it the best for footsteps in CoD. I have used a few others like the H6PRO and the PC38X. The ATH-GDL3 can be a bit sharp at times but the detail, clarity and positional audio is the best I have heard so far. The only downside is finding replacement earpads for them, would really love having a set of cooling gel pads to have some more distance between the drivers and my ears 😅.
@lachlanblackstock3857 Both headsets are really good for their respective prices. But I liked the Audtio Technica ATH-GDL3 much better. But if you can I would order both from Amazon and return the one you like the least.
If you've got the budget, what really does the trick is one of Schiit's multibit DACs. Their in-house clock and digital filter is maybe the best I've ever heard when it comes to localization (save for maybe Rockna, but $$$), likely due to great time domain coherency, not to mention their excellent resolution (particularly their ability to handle bass). Probably because they're inherently "bit perfect" DA conversion, as opposed to most DACs, which use approximations to _maybe_ achieve half of their advertised bit depth. Even a 2-channel speaker system is able to project a spacious 3D sonic image with one of those DACs, like the audio cues are materializing out of thin air rather than coming from the speakers. The effect isn't so pronounced with headphones, but it's still noticeable, and better by far than DACs in any other device you're likely to use. Unfortunately I don't think the lower-end Modi Multibit uses the the same filter, but the newer iterations might, I'm not sure. I know both Bifrost and Yggdrasil do.
I’ve had the Mid-to-High Tier Wireless 100 and up headsets I still choose the KSC75s over all them for great imaging, soundstage, comfort, their very detailed and their tuned specifically for competitive FPS games like Call of Duty and they only cost $20 incredible value!! Awesome video Tech thanks for reviewing all these amazing headphones in detail you never disappoint keep it up man.
KSC75s are what I use as well. Amazing set of headphones for the price. I would absolutely love to see them make a true wireless version with a dedicated 2.4Ghz connection, I'd be a day 1 buyer.
Harmonicdyne Zeus Elites? They are rated better than all of these for positional audio and hi res clarity (outside the Aryas by Hifiman). Actually there's many missing here. DT900 ProX, Ananda, Sundara, H6Pro, Truthear zeros, Vulcans, there's many more
Maxwell is an amazing headset, and easily one of my favorites of all time. Specifically in the context of positional tracking/footsteps, the Nova Pro and Stealth Pro do a slightly better job, that's all. The Maxwell will be featured in other videos coming up though!
Great video! I know it’s one year late but what would be the best IEM for directional sound where I can actually have an advantage in game by hearing their direction and where they are located?
Thank you for this video, I'm sure this will help a lot of people choose what kind of headphones they what, luckily I watched one of your videos before buying and I am happy with the headphones I bought. Now, could you make a video of the headphones to avoid, obviously from known brands or popular on sites like Amazon, etc. You know, just a video idea. Keep up the good work!
As always thx for the great Video! Atm im still using my old Logitech 733 which did a good job over the many years but now kinda fall apart xD (also i hate the Software urgh..) So its time for a UPGRADE hehe. Im waiting for BF Sales and rly rly want the Novas Pro hope they get a nice drop in Price. They seem to be the best for my Setup (PC+PS5) and usage. Can´t wait to experience them playing Rainbow Six on PC.
Very informative video and one that I really needed, going into black friday and holiday season. Are the Stealth Pro also good for RPG, Open World and SP games ? Torn between Nova Pro and Stealth Pro
Just 2 days ago I was thinking about needing this video, thank you for making it, great as always! Will you be making one for general use in the future? if not then what do you think of the new blackshark v2 pro when fps games aren't a priority (basically not detrimental performance when playing them) and it's more music, story and other multiplayer games with friends, or if there are better options in the mid range price point.
Great video man. I have VZR model 1 and audeze maxwell. The VZR outperforms the maxwell in fps games on PS5. I only play on PS5. Would the Schitt hell plus improve the audio on the VZR on the PS5?
Great video, love your channel! For general use, including music, which wireless headset would you suggest ?(apart from maxwell, due to it not being available in my region)
is it worth it? I should say, that i’m playing fps shooter … i‘m using a nova wireless pro but with 3,5mm connected to a topping dx3 pro plus… but i‘m not happy in the momennt. I also tried my Beyer DT880 pro (250ohm) and my Sennheiser HD600 but i‘m still not satisfied :( I also tried the truthear hola and they are maybe better for positioning as all these other very expensive headphones
Great content man! I absolutely love it! Is it true that turtle beach stealth pro is the best headphone specialy for fps games( footsteps etc)? I heard epos h6 pro is insane to and it is not wirless, no latency.
What is the best headset you’ve ever used specifically for Halo? Am curious because Halo is more bass heavy than other fps games, so what may be the best FPS headset may not actually be for Halo xD.
I’ve got the Stealth Pro and SS Nova pro wireless and still go back to my old Astro A50, though, my A50’s are getting more audio drops I still find them more comfortable the sound stage through Atmos is perfect.
Yeah the A50s are great when they work, plus they're so, so comfortable. I have purchased 3 now and they keep breaking on me. The firmware has been rubbish, and I just couldn't recommend them to today's market considering the lack of support from Logi and Astro now.
@@GadgetryTech firmware is farcical, fingers crossed Logitech can do something about that in the future. Anything you’d recommend that has the same sound/comfort as the A50’s Joe ?. I’m tempted by the RIG 900HX
Great content again! I was thinking instead of categories, wouldn't it make sense to purely on budget? So e.g. How does a decent dac/amp with a h6pro compare to an audeze maxwell (or something like that)? Would be amazing to see.
Great video, watched your review of the Simgot ES500 im looking at getting those for fos gaming what ear tips do you recommend.Have you reviewed the Simgot 500lm?
Sneaky, I can see the WC on the Stealth pro 😏😏 Great Video Joe, you covered everything as usual!! I'm quiet happy with my stealth pro, and if it lasts, it will be my go to for years and years to come =)
Really appreciate your videos. I’ve seen you replying to other comments and hope I can ask for your opinion regarding a buying decision. I’ve watched all your videos and done research but am still somewhat stuck. I currently have the nova 7’s but the treble stops long sessions. As a single player lover that dabbles in pvp fps games sometimes, do you suggest the Hyperx cloud III wireless, Razer Blackshark Pro 2023 or the Logitech Pro X 2 Wireless? The headsets have been ordered from most assuring to least assuring.
I have been using Superlux 668B for the last 4 years with a Modmic and have been very happy but it's been time to upgrade, After scanning for a set of professional cans I came across the AKG K245 which are 32 Ohms with 50mm transducers, Foldable with a mini XLR connector on the right can, I lucked in as I managed to pick up a pair from Amazon Warehouse for only £33 when they arrived they were brand new but missing the earfoams lol not a big issue as I always upgrade them to gel foam pads, 24 hrs later all sorted so I manged to get a new set complete for £50 Total and could not be happier, The best part though is a mobile phone is able to drive them so no Dac or amp required 👍
I picked up an AceZone A-spire based on your review here. Got it lightly used for $138. Very excited to try it compared to my HD 560S for gaming performance. I may just have to pick up that VZR Model One as well on the black Friday deal!
Gotta say, it’s seems as if yoh “like” them all and they offer “great value” and every headset is a “great pick” honestly you used the “the best” or “my absolute favorite” that I honestly don’t know what headset is worth my money. All over the place with everything being the best.
Well black friday is here. and the gsx 1000 2nd edition is on sale for 150. the g6 is on sale for 100 and the gc7 is on sale for 130. using primarily for FPS gaming. which would you recommend having used them all. I am going to pair it with the VZR model one. Currently I have the gsx1000 gen 1 with the gsp 500. so that brings me to another question. is it even worth the upgrade? thank you for your advice. @@GadgetryTech
Hey Joe, Do you think you would do the same type of video for IEMs only? I know you covered the mid-tier IEMs, but I was wondering if there is a point in spending more on IEMs for FPS gaming. I only use my IEMs for gaming, as I listen to music with speakers. Do you have any suggestions on what IEMs to buy for max footsteps performance? What is your experience with them? I play COD MW3 and Warzone mainly. I only trust your opinion on UA-cam, haha. I appreciate the thorough video. Cheers!

For now yeah, but the sound is different. The general Nova Pro tune will work really well too though. They seem to have better footstep volume in MW3 but I'll post a video when I can!
Hey man, thanks for the effort. I recently have been watching your reviews and already made one switch to the SteelSeries Apex 9 TKL, it's great! Could I have your opinion on something though? Hence I'm considering switching to the Cloud III's Wireless, now onto my question - do you think it's a difficult switch in terms of sound, to go from a Senn onto the HyperX? Thanks in advance & greetings from Germany!
Great review and suggestions, thanks - I just found your channel. I have AudioQuest Dragonfly DAC that was the hype a decade ago - would it work for gaming? Do these external DACs have latency issues? Can they drive Sennheiser 560S?

Got the nova 7, and i love them! Very customizable and comfy.
KSC75s never get put away for me. Always a quick, comfy grab.
KSC75s are what I use as well. Amazing set of headphones for the price. I would absolutely love to see them make a true wireless version with a dedicated 2.4Ghz connection, I'd be a day 1 buyer.
it hurts my ears a lot i have glasses cant wear them after 1 hour
Harmonicdyne Zeus Elites? They are rated better than all of these for positional audio and hi res clarity (outside the Aryas by Hifiman).
Actually there's many missing here. DT900 ProX, Ananda, Sundara, H6Pro, Truthear zeros, Vulcans, there's many more
Why was the Audeze Maxwell not included
Cause the Maxwell is not good for footsteps. They are ok but not great. He has mentioned it before in his reviews.
Maxwell is an amazing headset, and easily one of my favorites of all time. Specifically in the context of positional tracking/footsteps, the Nova Pro and Stealth Pro do a slightly better job, that's all. The Maxwell will be featured in other videos coming up though!
@@GadgetryTech thks for the reply 👍
Thanks bro again 👋
Great video!
I rock the Meze 109 Pros for gaming / music and absolutely love them! Idk if you have them a try or not yet.
I love those headphones! I reviewed them a while back
Great video!
Great video. Wish you would do one for microphones!
No pulse elite included?
Just 2 days ago I was thinking about needing this video, thank you for making it, great as always!
Will you be making one for general use in the future? if not then what do you think of the new blackshark v2 pro when fps games aren't a priority (basically not detrimental performance when playing them) and it's more music, story and other multiplayer games with friends, or if there are better options in the mid range price point.
This was a fantastic review of fps headphones but what’s your personal go to for fps gaming?
Great video man. I have VZR model 1 and audeze maxwell. The VZR outperforms the maxwell in fps games on PS5. I only play on PS5. Would the Schitt hell plus improve the audio on the VZR on the PS5?
Commenting because I'm curious of the answer.
How much superior is it in %?
Need an answer to this question! Lol
Great video, love your channel! For general use, including music, which wireless headset would you suggest ?(apart from maxwell, due to it not being available in my region)
Amazing video again
Thanks so much!
Thanks brother
Thank you! I bought the model one because of your reviews.
Awesome! You must love it!
is it worth it? I should say, that i’m playing fps shooter … i‘m using a nova wireless pro but with 3,5mm connected to a topping dx3 pro plus… but i‘m not happy in the momennt. I also tried my Beyer DT880 pro (250ohm) and my Sennheiser HD600 but i‘m still not satisfied :(
I also tried the truthear hola and they are maybe better for positioning as all these other very expensive headphones
Great info. Tonne of effort into this.
I like the varitey of pricing. Good vid, subbed.
Hey man love ir vids! Are you going to do some testing on razer Kaira series? Heard they are really good!
1st
Great vid as always 👌 boss man.
No bayer dynamics made the list?
What a great vid thank you so much id definitely take the stealseries prime now ( i already have a good fifine mic)
Sneaky, I can see the WC on the Stealth pro 😏😏
Great Video Joe, you covered everything as usual!!
If you find the treble too much at times on the Nova 7, then go with the HyperX Cloud III wireless. It's so good!
JBL 910 are not a good option?
So is the nova pro better then the astro a50s?
I love this channel
Thank you for this guide. Which do you prefer, the PC38X or the Cloud III wireless?
Hi, whats the best headset for Dead By Daylight ? Mainly to hear moans of pain, healing and chest opening
Thanks for the video. Simple question, LCD-GX or acetone A-Rise ?
I picked up an AceZone A-spire based on your review here. Got it lightly used for $138. Very excited to try it compared to my HD 560S for gaming performance. I may just have to pick up that VZR Model One as well on the black Friday deal!
Wow that's an amazing price! Between that and the 560S, you have some of the best options for FPS. The Model One will just be icing on the cake haha
@@GadgetryTech yeah I got extremely lucky on ebay! For the price I think it's the best headset for the money
Wait, theres a black Friday deal with the VZR model one?
@@DyzzBro Yeah, it's mentioned in the video. $250 for open box VZR Model One's for black friday. Deal is not live yet so just look out for it
what do you think about them? ive had the A-spire for about 1 week, and im def returning them.
What do you think about iems on console like ps5?
What do you think about the ath m50x?
thx its really needet topic
Ty for reviewing and doing this.
How about non-fps games like mmo or story games :)?
Gotta say, it’s seems as if yoh “like” them all and they offer “great value” and every headset is a “great pick” honestly you used the “the best” or “my absolute favorite” that I honestly don’t know what headset is worth my money. All over the place with everything being the best.
Hearing 'the best' a lot in a video that concerns itself with - wait for it - THE BEST, in multiple categories to boot? _Outrageous!_
No GSX 1000 mention? Is it still decent?
I love that DAC! Purely to save time, the GC7 is a better value that's all. It's less money, has more features, and more power output.
@@GadgetryTech I recently got the DT900 pro x is the gsx good enough to use with that Headphone?
Well black friday is here. and the gsx 1000 2nd edition is on sale for 150. the g6 is on sale for 100 and the gc7 is on sale for 130. using primarily for FPS gaming. which would you recommend having used them all. I am going to pair it with the VZR model one. Currently I have the gsx1000 gen 1 with the gsp 500. so that brings me to another question. is it even worth the upgrade? thank you for your advice. @@GadgetryTech
Amazing that today is black Friday and almost all these headsets are 20% more expensive over a year later.
hi, great video with a lot of great information. Do you have an EQ setting for the GOXLR ?
I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts/review of the mojo 2. Cross feed feature works awesome for gaming imo.
curious why open ear is better for hearing footsteps?
What chair are you sitting in?
Hey Joe, Do you think you would do the same type of video for IEMs only? I know you covered the mid-tier IEMs, but I was wondering if there is a point in spending more on IEMs for FPS gaming. I only use my IEMs for gaming, as I listen to music with speakers. Do you have any suggestions on what IEMs to buy for max footsteps performance? What is your experience with them? I play COD MW3 and Warzone mainly. I only trust your opinion on UA-cam, haha. I appreciate the thorough video. Cheers!
IM JUST SEEING THIS VID! aweosme work man! If you see this I gave a Q, I want to get IEMs, doesnt matter which ones for me, but I also want a audio interface like an fifine sc1. is it worth it?
Do you recommend your custom EQ or the MW2 preset for MW3 with the Nova Pro?
For now yeah, but the sound is different. The general Nova Pro tune will work really well too though. They seem to have better footstep volume in MW3 but I'll post a video when I can!
Thanks a lot for your geat content! CANT WAIT for your MW3 Nova Pro EQ settings video! @@GadgetryTech
Can you do a video on the best gaming headsets for story driven games, where you want a bit more bass ? For pc / console
Hey man, thanks for the effort.
I recently have been watching your reviews and already made one switch to the SteelSeries Apex 9 TKL, it's great!
Could I have your opinion on something though?
Right now I'm rocking the PC38X you mentioned in this video, I love them, they're perfect. (imo)
But recently they were a pain in the ass on a LAN tournament, due to them being open back and all...
Which is best headphone when there is alot of noise of gun fire but still can hear footsteps?
Does the simgot em6l have a mic at all ,?
Great video as always. One question - do you think the Sennheiser 560S is better than the HD600 for gaming?
The sound profile tends to be more enjoyable for gaming for me, yeah.
