"It sucks to see how badly he's fallen off throughout the years" Saying that about Telles either shows ignorance or arrogance. Since leaving Porto Telles spent 2 seasons on a bigger club in United (which has been a shitshow), won an Europa League for Sevilla, played a World Cup for Brazil, won a shit ton of money on Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr then went to a big brazilian club and won the biggest trophy on the continent. That's why he was crying, it's one of the biggest moments of his career. Some people might have expected higher heights for him but since leaving Porto his career absolutely has not "badly fallen off". @@ThroneFC Telles’ signing with Botafogo was a smart and bold move for both sides. Botafogo managed to snatch an experienced talent that surely still had a bit of market left in Europe - definitely not on the Top Tier teams, but he is still in great form to play in Spain, France, or even in a lower tier Premier League team. And Telles managed to join a solid football project that is reviving one of the most historical jerseys in Brazil, allowing him to get more spotlight just two years before the next World Cup (at a time that Brazil’s National Squad is struggling to perform), while still keeping ties with Europe through the link with Lyon (even tho playing for Botafogo is a more prestigious opportunity, not to mention the WCC happening next June, Lyon is a valuable bridge for the Eagle football project for ambitious players like him).
This is only the beggining, as we're saying here in Brazil: "This is the wrost Botafogo squad, of the next 10 years." Only 3 years of a professional administration, with scouting, data analysis, money spent carefully and not just to show off, not to mention the Everest amount of pressure that this title we got off our shoulders. In the next 15~20 years we'll go back to our spot as one of the main forces in brazilian football, we just needed some serious and competent people behind the scenes.
Da-lhe da-lhe Fogooooo!!! They used to say we were "the smaller among the biggest", but now we are proving this was never the case. The club that gave Brazil 3 WC will NEVER be the smaller among the biggest. And prepare yourselves, because this is just the beginning. In no more than 5 years we will be putting our hands on a Intercontinental Cup trophy right in the first final we manage to play, something that Palmeiras, Flamengo and Fluminense couldn't do when they were in the finals. The last time a south american club won a Fifa Club World Cup / Intercontinental Cup was in 2012, so when we do it it will be another great feat by the Glorioso 🔥
A bit of history: Botafogo is directly responsible ( alongside with Santos) for Brazil wining the first 3 world Cups. Players like Garrincha, Nilton Santos, Didi, Jairzinho, all came from botafogo.
It’s simple. Libertadores matters more to South American clubs and its fans than anything in European Competitions. ‘Libertadores es mi obsecion’ is a song which talks exactly about that. A high level of emotion is expected.
I'm a Fortaleza fan and I'm totally in for a video about Remo. They are our brothers and some of our executives left our club and headed to Remo in the beginning of this year to try to repeat with them what they made with Fortaleza. I really hope Remo gains the recognition it deserves and I trust a lot those professionals who left Fortaleza to help them are very capable of doing that, specially with how large their fanbase is. They're easily over a million remistas out there. I've met some in multiple states from the Northeast to the South and there's quite a few of them here in Fortaleza as well (and their rival also has a big fanbase but I don't like them). I hope to see Remo in 2026's Série A 🦁
You actually answered your own question at the end. In Europe, most of the time, the team that’s expected to win does win. But in South America, that’s often not the case. The Brazilian League is one of the most competitive in the world, and almost every final has a story that makes it even more exciting. For example, Botafogo reaching the Libertadores Final for the first time after 2023 was historic. Coming back from being a man down to win the game is incredibly emotional and hard to manage. On Atlético’s side, they were under immense pressure, having already lost one final and now facing the possibility of losing a second one despite having a man advantage. Brazilian journalists would definitely criticize them heavily for this. There’s just so much at stake and so many factors involved-it’s hard to put into words.
11:18 PLEASE make a video about the RePa!!! This derby is so freaking underrated it ain't even funny how little attention it gets in comparison to how intense it is. Like bro, over 770 matches!? How on earth the match between 2 clubs that has most repeated itself in the history of the sport is so forgotten? It being an amazonian derby doesn't help them, but anyways it is so underrated it really would make good use of outside recognition!
You sounded like the match didn’t had any tactics, only heart and passion which is a cliché and not actually true. For a Team to win over another with 10 players on the pitch the whole match, passion alone is not enough. Even though Atlético had a few oportunities, Botafogo dominated them for the simple fact they are the best Team in the Americas. A Team that plays with discipline, intensity and, obviously, tactics and strategy. And we cry on the pitch because our hearts are beating and our blood is hot and we, Latin Americans, are not affraid of let it show.
@@sandeabo I get what you're saying. Maybe I didn't explain myself well. I did mention that Botafogo remained cohesive and that their strategy to hold down Atlético Mineiro worked. It wasn't passion alone, but the match had a much more intense pace than what you usually see in Europe and that's a good thing.

If Botafogo played Porto today, Botafogo would win 4 x 0. The Brasileirao is a WAY better league than Portugal’s. You cannot talk about the football of South America like we are underdeveloped, that is just not true. Go look at Fifa Rankings, brasileirao is the 6º best league in the world behing the 5 (it should be higher than Ligue 1) Every single big 12 club in brazil would fight for the Portugal league title w benfica and porto. Show more respect than saying we are clubs that don’t have tactics and play only with heart. Botafogo did not win only because of heart. Look at the defensive scheme of artur jorge with a man down. The double teams on Hulk, having Marlon build a 5 man defensive line aleeady being down one defensive mindfielder is genius and required sacrifices from Savarino, LH and Almada. Genius. Smart. Brazil is not underdeveloped like you suggest in the video. If Porto played in Brazil it would struggle to qualify for the Libertadores, let alone win anything. Show more respect.
Porto just copped 4 to a team below them in the Portuguese league if the best team in South American champions couldn’t do similar that would be embarrassing, especially since this is the worst Porto team in years. They lost to Bodo/Gilmt
@@pedrofarias478 I don't think Porto is a good example. Benfica is probably the best team after Amorim left Sporting, either way I think you're seriously underestimating portuguese teams. Obviously if Porto played in Brazil they would struggle, it's a different climate, different altitudes and different playing style. But I doubt Botafogo would crack top 3 in Portugal
11:18 man, can you do a video about the rivalry Remo vs Paysandu of Belém, Pará, Brazil? That is one of greatness rivalrys of the world, is the rivalry that have more matches in Brazil, 775 matches, have more matches than so many rivalrys like Corinthians vs Palmeiras or Gremio vs Internacional And the fans of Remo and Paysandu are very fanatic, very crazyness, in the second, third and four/last division that fans fill the stadiums, breaking public records of the brazilian and south american soccer. Mainly the fans the Remo do that, the Remo have the most public records, some times the average public of Remo matches is bigger than first division matches, it's no wonder that it's a cultural heritage of the Pará state. And the stadiums of them are very close, just some 200 meters of distance
Mate, the ivestidor of botafogo, John Textor, is a guy that is ALWAYS at the stands supporting botafogo, he spends the day on social media to learn what he fan are writing about Botafogo. Some say that he even signed up Thiago Almada due to a fan recommendation on Twitter. He might be some goofy usa guy, but he ain't cold hearted at all. And the final took Botafogo a lot of tactics and strategies, since it's a team with offensive dna. Being behind isn't for them, so they had to reinven heir style. The way you said sounded that it was a bad final, with 4 uncommon goals, but it wasn't
As a Brazilian who also watched this game as a neutral, I can tell you its very likely the players were crying because of how important the title was to both sides, Galo has had a very difficult season and their fans nearly destroyed their own stadium when they lost to Flamengo (club im a supporter of) in the cup, while Botafogo of course, was in a very important week where they had to win this game, and then play a tough match at Inter to possibly seal the League aswell and a loss here would not only start the whole "bottler" agenda in the media but also demoralize the fans and players for a crucial last 2 games in league, but i also believe we of south america care alot for our own football, especially us Brazilians and winning such a difficult title isn't something that happens every day. Great video, i hope our teams can face eachother on the club world cup, who knows?
please make more videos about south american football. to me it is very interesting to hear europeans opinion about the way we play football here. greetings from paraguay
And wow 11:23 I never expected a foreigner to know about this derby. I know little to nothing about their individual histories, but what I know for a fact is that Remo and Paysandu gather over 40k people to the stadiums even when they are playing in Série C. Just so you can have an idea, Paysandu had a largest average attendance than SANTOS playing alongside them in Série B this season, and Remo surpassed both in avg attendance even tho they were in Série C and Paysandu and Santos in Série B. If I'm not mistaken Remo had an attendance of over 50.000 people in their last Série C match this year, simply outerworldly for a 3rd division match. 2 massive crowds from our beautiful Amazon that I wish one day I can get to know personally and watch a match of this derby live at the stadium. All that said I would love to see a video essay on this subject made by a foreigner. As someone who lives in Rio I have virtually no contact with those clubs. By the way brazilian football loses a lot with their absence from Série A... Nowadays we have small clubs playing there like Red Bull Bragantino and Mirassol, but Remo and Paysandu are the ones who should be there considering how massive their crowds are. Also a honorable mention to Santa Cruz, which is Sport's biggest rival and have a MASSIVE crowd of like 2 MILLION people, but ufortunately lives a simmilar situation to Portuguesa and was even out of the brazilian league this season, playing only the State championship and nothing more... I think Remo was also once in this very same situation but somehow returned to Série B and apparently dreams with being promoted to Série A again. To be completely honest, the first time I saw anything about this club was in 2021 when Botafogo was in Série B and they had just been promoted from Série C. We were champions that year and won over them both in Rio and in their domains, but they beat both Vasco and Cruzeiro twice in that same competition which unfortunately didn't avoid their relegation at the end of the season but gave the rest of Brazil good laughs and jokes about Vasco and Cruzeiro lol But in all honesty, those clubs deserve more recognition, specially among us brazilians who often forget those smaller clubs in favor of the Big 12
I think it's important to point out that the coach who brought Botafogo to 47 points in the first half of the championship left the club for a Saudi one in the middle of the campaign. Then they simply couldn't find a worthy successor until Artur Jorge arrived in 2024.
There’s so much potential to tell an interesting story and develop a more in-depth analysis of this particular squad, but you missed so many crucial points just for the sake of sound bites. Just an example: Botafogo in 2023 did 47 points under the command of Luiz Castro, but he suddenly left the club mid-season for a more lucrative contract in the Middle East, and after that, Botafogo changed managers 4 times. That’s unheard of for a team in the lead. Just think if Liverpool lost Klopp mid-season while in the lead, or Guardiola dropped City from night to day. Not even those teams would be able to maintain the lead in a competitive environment. Another aspect of the 2023 Brazilian League is the multiple accusations of match fixing (now being investigated by the Federal Police and Federal Prosecutors), which increased considerably in the second half of the season, and Botafogo was one of the teams impaired in numerous, crucial matches that could have secured the trophy. These details are essential for a realistic storytelling, because if you come to this video without any awareness of what Botafogo went through in 2023, you think its demise is exclusively because of “bad, weak-minded players that fooled their fans for an entire first half of the season” or “unlucky circumstances”. Botafogo 2024 is still composed of half of the squad of 2023, and some 2023 leaders are actually key players in the main lineup for most of this season. So be a bit more curious, and avoid reading exclusively from mainstream sources. Watch the matches, read the tactical analysis, and keep an eye on football politics, otherwise you can unintentionally end up narrating a misguided story. (And just FYI, despite being heavily in-debt for decades, Botafogo led multiple Brazilian Serie As until losing energy due to short squads and bad substitutes for their main players. It led in 2013 for half season, in 2010 for a quarter of the season, and in 2007 for half season since its 1995 Brazilian title. So it wasn’t rare to see Botafogo managing to do well in a few occasions - the issue is always keeping it up with wealthier teams, specially from Sao Paulo).
And btw, maybe the repeated crying is because they put more heart in the game. Maybe that’s why Brazilians have 5 World Cup titles (more than anyone else, despite spending the last 20 years asleep), and Portugal has zero. Maybe you know nothing about football..
Just chill dude... You don't have to bring down my country since I didn't bring down yours. In fact, I was fascinated about the things I saw. I didn't go into more depth because this video wasn't supposed to be about Botafogo... Watch my video about Fortaleza, I'm 100% certain you'll change your mind about my channel. I can be casual and I can be informative, there's a time and a place for both
If you are to make a future video about it, I'm sure you will research a little more. Botafogo winning Libertadores WILL make huge waves in the brazillian football dinamics, specially regarding investiments and long term planning. Not only Botafogo, but Cruzeiro and City Group owned Bahia are here to stay.
"...In other sports your tradition is always present, honoring the colours of this country and our people. On this road of glories a beam of light, your glorious star enguides you" Botafogo is the 2024 BRASILEIRÃO Champions🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'd love to see you elaborate on why botafogo isn't a powerhouse yet. Which after considering your statement I do agree with you. I'm a botafogo supporter and sometimes I do get a bit emotional. You're basically right about Textor's lack of effort on the other clubs his company eagle football has major or substantial shares. And while he may have been overly passionate about Botafogo, he hasn't given up on his collaborative clube ownership model, instead of having clubs maintained exclusively for providing talents to the parent club hub model. I've heard on a recent interview with one of botafogo's CEO or some other top executive, where he revealed that eagle footballs capital opening on the stock market, and the selling of current shares they own on Crystal Palace, will provide the means to pay off Lyons debt at the very first moment. But they also want to split each clubs management to appointed individuals by the counsel, investors, and shareholders, as a mean to reduce the clubs reliability on John's part as the company's director and sole person making the calls, etc, etc. Basically each appointed manager will be made reliable and take over John's current responsibility o! the clubs they will be appointed for. Also he's reduced share on the ownership of eagle football will allow him to focus solely on botafogo which he took a liking for. So it seems like the right path to take atm. To finish my statement. I think botafogo isn't there yet cause it hasn't finished securing a proper investment and installations for the clubs young players to mature and to become a talent revealing club. So atm their relying solely on our very impressive scout department to balance our clubs investments and make less mistakes when hiring new players or assessing opportunities, getting what our manager wants to keep our team competitive and to meet the clubs budget, buying cheap and hoping to sell high. This is a very risky strategy but it's not the clubs long term strategy, that has been clarified and debated from the beginning. So yeah we're definitely not there yet in terms of having the means to diversify income flows as well as palmeiras or flamengo.
What I do see though and it is why I don't totally agree with your assumptions is that in 3 years with some luck but also some very good management, so far they have been able to deliver on their promises ahead of schedule. These were not goals too ambitious to the point of being impossible deliver nor lacking to they point they'd be way too easy to achieve. So far they have been very clear about their strategy, they have delivered more than promised and they're on their track to accomplish more sooner than expected. So far from my point of view they are actually very established as a top tier team in Brazil, but yeah I can't guarantee that yet, I'm assuming this based on the past 3 seasons where they have grown stronger and better year over year and now have actually won a trophy. I'm feeling very optimistic about future years for sure my brother!
A video about that rivarly you mentioned would be nice. It's not some small city-exclusive derby, as far as I know that derby divides the entire brazilian amazon or something like that. It's regional and involves a lot of people, besides I've met many fans from both clubs in the state that I live. According to many of them only GreNal creates a more hostile atmosphere, but I can't neither confirm nor deny that because I know very little about the clubs themselves, besides the fun fact that Paysandu have already beaten Boca in La Bombonera 20 years ago

@@ThroneFC wow that's nice, I never seen a detailed video about Fogo's history made in english. I just subscribed to you to wait for that video. It's funny bc when we look further into Fogo's history as whole, we can clearly see how it decayed and got a stigma that was never actually true, instead of being that forever small team people try to depict is as being. I think every big club eventually go though a period of crisis and then returns better structured and with more fans than before at some point. People like to hate on us because they are jealous of Botafogo's history with the National Team lmao It's the SeleFogo, não tem jeito 🔥 and make that video about remo and paysandu too. I knew paysandu because of the time they defeated Boca in Bombonera in Libertadores 2004 I think and knew Remo in 2021 when they played against us for Série B and their jersey caught my attention bc of the very beautiful tone of blue they use, very simmilar to Millwall. Last year I remember they defeated Corinthians 2-0 with their stadium packed with like 30 thousand people I think. Idk if they were in Série C or D last year, but Corinthians was in Série A and playing Libertadores, so it was really funny seeing them losing to remo but at the same time made me discover they have a huge crowd. I remember very little about paysandu in Série A and Libertadores bc I was very small, but I wonder now with 5 Northeastern teams in Série A how those 2 would fit in the place of teams with almost no fans like Red Bull and Mirassol. And I will say even more, there are overestimated rivarlies like Fla-Flu (which is as weak as a derby could be) and many underestimated ones like Fortaleza vs ceará, remo vs paysandu and Santa Cruz vs sport. The only derbies of this kind (state rivarlies) people talk about are from the the Southeast and South (Galo x Cruzeiro, AtleTiba and GreNal mostly) and that is really a shame bc of how many fans those clubs from the upper part of our country have

This is only the beggining, as we're saying here in Brazil: "This is the wrost Botafogo squad, of the next 10 years."
Only 3 years of a professional administration, with scouting, data analysis, money spent carefully and not just to show off, not to mention the Everest amount of pressure that this title we got off our shoulders.
In the next 15~20 years we'll go back to our spot as one of the main forces in brazilian football, we just needed some serious and competent people behind the scenes.

Yes!! Lets talk about Remo vs Paysandu.
The biggest derby in the world, being the derby with the most games played in history!
The dark times are over. Just like a Phoenix we are reborn 🔥

There’s just so much at stake and so many factors involved-it’s hard to put into words.
exato
11:18 PLEASE make a video about the RePa!!! This derby is so freaking underrated it ain't even funny how little attention it gets in comparison to how intense it is. Like bro, over 770 matches!? How on earth the match between 2 clubs that has most repeated itself in the history of the sport is so forgotten? It being an amazonian derby doesn't help them, but anyways it is so underrated it really would make good use of outside recognition!
Ninguém liga pra remo e paissandu. Só vocês aí do estado do pará
Vamos Fogoooooooooo!!!

Go look at Fifa Rankings, brasileirao is the 6º best league in the world behing the 5 (it should be higher than Ligue 1)
Every single big 12 club in brazil would fight for the Portugal league title w benfica and porto.

@@SeppukuDoll True
5:37 yes. Vegetti cried after losing to Atlético in the Copa do Brasil for example.

It's regional and involves a lot of people, besides I've met many fans from both clubs in the state that I live. and make that video about remo and paysandu too.

CAMPEÃO COM 10 EM CAMPO. FOOOOOOGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Are you portuguese? I can hear some accent rsrsrs
@@occidens6350 I am! 🇵🇹🤝🇧🇷
CALL US BOTTLERS NOW HAHAHAHAHA
Didnt manage to watch with audio because i was shitting but ive been a botafogo fan my whole life and by reading the comments i gotta say im sorry for how my fellow botafoguenses treated you and i hope it doesnt affect your view on this great club
@@aIbanest Why do you Turn off the audio when you're shitting? Do you need to focus?😂
You know nothing about football
Even Lessa about Brazilian club
@@FelipeMarques0809 Yet, here you are watching one my videos🤷♂️
You made a very unsubstantiated observation by the end. Botafogo is now an ASF which owned by Textor and that means tons of money. I don't think Botafogo is slowing down so soon.
"Bottler" por causa de uma temporada? Tá de brincadeira???
@@DougFagundes They bottled a 13 point lead. 13 points.
Tell me a bigger bottling story than that.
@@ThroneFC Is Liverpool a bottler team? I'll ask you again: to fall just one time is a reason to be a bottler team?? You don't know what happened here.
What do you mean I don't know, I made a video about it last year and I'm preparing another one about this season, stay tuned!
@@ThroneFC I love your videos. But I think you're wrong when you say it. I'm waiting for the next video ❤
I love this
Awful video. Do a little more research before trying to talk about something you don't know. Just a tip

Since the Portuguese returned to Brazil, is just about WINNING! Imagine what Brazil would be if the Portuguese were in Brazil in the last 200 years?
bro just be quiet...
