Far more Ukrainians have died than Russian soldiers, and men between the age of 18 to 60 have been prevented from leaving Ukraine after there was a mass exodus of 8 million people at the start of the conflict. Many reports say people are being forced into the military at gun point so there's plenty of cannon fodder on the Ukrainian side.

Wagner is a Private Military Company. Nobody is forced to be in it. They do not have recruits, they have employees. I assume you have a job. Are you forced to be there.

I just want people to remember that when this war started no one thought it would last a week before Russia won. No one but Zelensky. It remains weird that Blackwater was referred to as "a private security services contractor" or with similar terms while the Wagner Group is called "a private army". Both are/were of the same class: Modern times mercenaries.
I believe it is because black water/s/ etc works for American interests exclusively Whereas Wagner has is working for countries like the PRC which was contrary to the federations goals at the time in 2017-18
I mean it kinda depends on what your definition of "army" is. Realistically the real reason is probably because it sounds better, however Wagner seems a lot more like an army than blackwater.
Wagner has access to artillery, tanks, anti aircraft, gunships and more as well as having a larger amount of contractors. Blackwater is basically a bunch of vets running around with small arms.
So you could technically consider blackwater a small army made up of infantry. If you compare them to Wagner though than it's hard to still try and call them an army.
I believe Blackwater was mainly to provide protection whereas Wagner is engaged solely for offensive duties which, given their rather savage nature including rape and torture (as reported), there would appear to infer there to be a difference although both could, and should, be classed as mercenaries. IMO.

My son is a professional soldier who has done 4 tours in Mali where he ran into the Wagner group. He says they are a rag-tag team and very unequipped. So if they are better than the Russian Army, that tells a lot about the state of the Russian Army.

Personally i think the Kharkiv offensive is and will be the highlight of Ukraine in this conflict. The Kherson offensive showed that when Russia has enough manpower they cant be moved.

They destroyed 30% of Ukraines energy grid in a week. They mobilized 300,000 men and 12,000 volunteers and 22,000 chechens. They stabilized the front line.

Did you see the UAtv video of a Russian conscript on the phone to his mother asking her if she was category 1, 2 or 3 disabled. If she was 1 or 2 disabled he could be her carer and go home. But finally his mom finds a document and tells her son she is category 3. He tells her that's no good and he'll have to go to the front to be killed. Horrifying.There were other even more distressing calls on that video.

Israel sent some (I’m not sure how many), saw it on the news earlier. But anyways… Israel sent Ukraine some air defense systems that are specifically made to target the Iranian drone be used by Russia. If anyone would have something capable it would be Israel!
You can't just send fighters, you have to send a shit load of highly specialize support staff and equipment. One fighter and all the shit you need to get it in the air costs as much as whole countries are sending in a month. The West won't supply Ukraine with air superiority fighters so long as Ukraine can maintain airspace denial with the weapons they have- and they've been doing a remarkable job of it. It's like the NFL draft. They're so good with SAMS and bofors that they screwed themselves out of getting a first-round pick of F-16's.
That's not going to happen. U.S jets are completely different than what they are used to using. I don't mean piloting, I mean maintenance. They're also expensive.
They have been asking all the NATO countries give up their soviet era jets to Ukraine, Ukraine helped design and build most of them and have facilities setup already to service them. The U.S is backfilling those jets nato member gave up with American jets because the necessary infrastructure for maintenance is already setup in NATO countries. They have been doing something similar with tanks.
There will still be reluctance to do so because shipping fighter jets there may be seen as an escalation. So far they have been shipping them over in parts and Ukraine has been reassembling them.
It kills me that I fantasize about some high-test Russian advisor just chucking a heavily-COVID-laden hanky at Putin. Whoops!

CNN does seem to be shedding all of the toxic, biased lefties and hiring actual journalists again. I can't see them ever being unbiased, but it's definitely an improvement. I will never trust CNN on any political reporting they do, they've lost that trust forever, but on the war in Ukraine, they seem to be showing balanced reports.

There were only 3,500 US troops left in Afghanistan when the Taliban launched their gigantic offensive, and they were there only as airport security and advisors to the Afghan Army. So it’s the Afghan Army that collapsed in Afghanistan, not the US Army. The Afghan government and army were massively corrupt, towards the end the generals stole their soldiers’ pay instead of giving it to them. The Taliban bribed the Afghan generals to order their troops to go home and not fight. That’s why the Taliban overran the country so fast, there was very little resistance.
There was nothing the US could have done to stop the Afghans from being corrupt, other than imposing martial law and having a massive US occupation force, and that would have just made far more Afghans join the Taliban. Basically, Afghanistan defeated itself and accepted the Taliban back.
