She's amazing. She was the face and image of the band. A hypnotising personality. I have an Icelandic friend who used to be her teacher on primaryschool. He told me that in those days she already was an exceptional little girl who could sing more than very well. She then already was different from the rest. She was destined to become a bright shining superstar.
I've always been a huge Bjork fan - In many ways I see Aurora occupying a similar niche for the next generation, and yet without being derivative. Both are incomparable vocalists, both are utterly expressive free spirits (both get labelled pixies). Just seeing them perform their work is always an uplifting experience. We need more such artists in the world.
i came to the sugarcubes as a bjork fan and stayed for all that they contribute to this band. i love einar, he's a very playful poet. i don't kno anything about their artistic clashes, but i like what he brings to the sugarcubes! he's not everyone's cup of tea but he's definitely doing his thing and i don't think we should be hating on him for that
Bjork knows there's complete freedom in the way she expresses herself that makes her so unique and so special and Pure and Brilliant and Stunningly Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Björk isn’t pretentious about talent. She sees beauty in dissonance and all pure expressions of sound. She’s the ultimate inspiration and can make us all feel that we feel things that are worth expressing and validating - no matter how ugly, strange, or however they are.
His trumpet work on birthday is well worth keeping him on the payroll... keep in mind these are ALL close friends who live within 5 min of each other in Iceland... they have known each other their entire lifetimes & the whole musical landscape that 'birthed' Bjork was the deconstructionists of the hardcore punk movement... they aren't trying to sell a record they are making a social statement... the lyrics to birthday are about a young girl who is abused by an older neighbor... the song is from the perspective of the abused girl having a birthday in 2 ways... 1 in the horror of the abuse and the 2nd in the primal scream torment yet freedom of being able to speak of it... her birthday is coming to terms with that horror... so really if you expect a 3 min pop song for radio how come you even stopped by to listen
Es increíble ver como Björk en algunas partes se escucha que literalmente grita con una intensidad desgarradora y aún así su voz se sigue escuchado hermosa y única!! 💖
Plus they could not have had a longer lasting presence with Einer in the band. There simply isn't much more that can be done with him aside from the 3 albums they came out with. The second album was a disaster really because he was all over it. The Sugarcubes ended right when they needed to end leading the way for Bjork's solo career.. Bjork's solo stuff is simply brilliant.
Einar was always just annoying. He was not on Birthday. Sugarcubes had a great drummer, bass player, generic but effective guitarist. Einar added nothing.
@@modifiedcontent he added everything, if it hadn’t been for him you would not have had the sugar cubes. He was the driving force behind the band and its predecessor Kukl. And the person pushing Björk the hardest to record and release her solo material. The sugar cubes was never intended to be anything but a joke.
You got that spot on. It's not the Sugarcubes without him. Bjork has an amazing voice but I stopped buying her stuff after "Post" cos I just wasn't feeling it.
Well, when the fella starts singing, it doesn't exactly ruin it for me, but it just emphasizes how spectacular Bjork is. LOL. He's probably a nice and creative guy, and it would take a lot of cajones to get up and sing next to a total talent like Miss Bjork, I mean she would make most people look bad by comparison.
The absurdly free perspective being an icelandic gave this timeless ELF, has helped blessing us with the freest, most innovative and unlabelable "world music" ever. This one's still too Eighties, but her voice rides high over guitars and beats
love how most the comments on the video refer to the guy as 'yellow suspender man' and then everyone can identify Bjork as the amazing singer and performer she is, goes to show that acting like a nob doesn't get you far
Bueno es que a muchos les gustará esta banda (como a mí) por Bjork, entonces no creo sea posible compararla con Sumo porque no tienen una vez que se le parezca jaja, Sumo es una gran banda igualmente!
Without Einar Örn Benediktsson (29/10/1962), Björk Guðmundsdóttir (21/11/1965) would never ever gone solo! In 1986 they were also the 2 vocalists of the Icelandic Band KUKL...
It was inevitable that Bjork would become a solo artist...Her voice just stands out ...just wish she stuck making pop music instead of the weird clinking clanking noise's she does now, but I blame that performance artist Matthew Barney whom she shacked up with, the bastard!
You fundamentally misunderstand. Just go & find videos of early Bjork in bands before The Sugarcubes to understand. The whole point is that SHE wanted to be in bands like this, and NOT just 'sell-out' and do pretentious crap pop music.
Matt Barney -- the bastard! If they ever create an award for the most pretentious "artist" it should go to him. Elaborate costumes and sets only get you so far.
They are no joke live...that drummer gets down...the whole band actually and of course...bjork...otherworldly .and yes even enar....amazing show
even Eanr LOL
Einar is the Fred Schneider of the group. They're basically the Icelandic B52s

Yes she is 1 in a million vocally not many appreciate just how good she is. 1 of the best this planet has ever created.
Except for two songs everything she did after the Sugar Cubes sucked.
I was there, it was a free concert :)
Erik Wouda really?
I was 1 year old 😢
lucky bastard hahaha
now its priceless

one of the best albums ever made period....
>Types out the word, “period”. Ends sentence with ellipsis… There is no hope for this world, really.
Bjork knows there's complete freedom in the way she expresses herself that makes her so unique and so special and Pure and Brilliant and Stunningly Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
thank you yellow suspender man. I too now feel like I have the talent to share a stage with bjork.

Cold Sweat! Best SugarCubes song!
thats one hell of a call. I would likely go with birthday
A great band. The keyboardist is excellence!
:-)
Yeah it's too bad they never show her
She is beautiful! 😊❤️ There's is a video of her being interviewed by a hispanic reporter.
What a voice.
Her voice is unreal ffs
the energy in this is wild
Na época que a banda se lançou. Tive o primeiro Lp dos caras, curti muito o som da banda... Muito bom!!!!😎☝
Wow! Bjork is tiny and powerful in her singing. 😄👍❤️
I love this band. Why do good things never last forever?
If good things lasted forever we would not appreciate them.
In reference to this band? I'm glad this band ended. Bjork solo is the shit. This is just OK.
Plus they could not have had a longer lasting presence with Einer in the band. There simply isn't much more that can be done with him aside from the 3 albums they came out with. I can only listen to Björk...and...I can barely notice her co-singer(?)...it happens the same to me when listening to Tappi Tikarras ;P
cos deus not exist
The Bjork's outfit!!!! 💿💿💿

I'm 16 and I would've never thought I'd be listening to this. I love it tho

I saw them live in Milwaukee WI in the late 80's. Summerfest.
He's so freaking weird I love her I love her I love her
Sugarcubes at the town and country club was superb back in the day
Elinar live is incredible
She looks like a Baby Doll perfect face in any angle...sorry my english is terrible
Grande Bjork!!!
amazing brows and hair
Caterpilars & a hedgehog
Bjork siempre enamorado de ti ❤
Just took some sugarcube to enhance the experience :))
If you like the sugarcubes you should like Einar... He's an essential part of the sound of the sugarcubes...
yep you love him or hate him
OR you can like/love what you please
;-)
@@NOWtheband Yep! Love the songs but think they'd be drastically improved by eliminating Einar

This song is so good.
thanks 3 good songs from 1st lp , I like the girl who played keyboards.
Definitely captivating .
Einar's voice is pure magic. Bjork's is pretty good too.
reminds me of the first time I saw them live in 1987
This show was 4 days after my birth... wow...
Einar sobra en esta banda. Dicho esto, Muchas gracias por compartir.
beautiful power
Amo este video ❤
Oh tempo bom. Gosto demaissss....
wonderful
Very good
podria escuchar 100 veces más este vid
This is great thanks for posting!
sophisticated and surreal it was
Oh ... Motorcrash with compleatly different lyrics!
Interesting!

P McGill debut and post are her most boring solo efforts tbh.. amazing albums, but she truly found her genius on Homogenic.
love this
Power voice Bjurk 😎👍💯🎶
WOW !!!! en bedankt
The SugarCUUUUUUUBEs
Excellent!!!
Definitely pioneers in their time
Bravo!!!

einer's voice and presence is a royal pain in the ass
I was searching for these kind of comments lol.
At least he's cute
I love his recorded vocals, especially his random rambling like in deus. Live they can be a bit meh
whoa.....
Eu escuto em 2021

God gave Island 🇮🇸 a choice.
You can either have trees or one Björk 🌳
They chose wisly.
Not gonna lie, I had a crush on Bjork in the 80's :)
Well thank you :)
That's too bad. She still continues to put out gold.
I swear this was a reply 4 years ago. Wish I could remember the context
John Bonham I’m sure it was in response to someone saying they stopped listening to her once she went solo.
interesante Björk
When I yell it just sounds like awful squawking. Mad ups.

This was a stepping stone for the one named Bjork.
She is so heitt!
Lucky you !!
Look at the crowd .......The look on there faces are like " What the FUCK am I doing here !!!!!
If you like this you gonna love SUMO a band from Argentina, search it ;)
i'm sorry in advance, but any old skate heads notice the Santa Cruz Corey o brien sticker under the strings of the one guitar?
Saw them in Torino on the same year. The guy was drunk.
As good as god gets.
Please shut up.
Such a unique and wonderful songstress
The best thing Bjork ever did was split from these amateur noise makers.
Without Einar Örn Benediktsson (29/10/1962), Björk Guðmundsdóttir (21/11/1965) would never ever gone solo! In 1986 they were also the 2 vocalists of the Icelandic Band KUKL...
@Jofph She did an album at age 11. I love to love is on youtube and yeah it was good.
I wonder what ever happened to that guy. He was hilarious.
Really though, what the hell is the guy doing?
I have sideburns.
Byouk sow funny

Iam still squeaky clean
Nietzsche would be so proud of her
What the bjork???
how cant learn singing like Einar so close by Bjork
Why did the Sugar Cubes break up?
No jodas el vato que estaba en el otro micrófono estaba de sobra 😂😂😂 habrían sonado mejor solo con Björk

Honestly her singing ability was a lot better back then.
i am not agree with the lyrics, but i love bjork anyway
minus suspender guy, sugarcubes were amazing. wish he'd just stick to trumpet.
Maybe the poet gezzer could have been at the after party.
