Björk is Iceland personified. Her breaths when she sings are like the cold breeze of air of the icy mountaintops of Iceland, her vocables are the echoes they make when they travel in between rocks and bounce off of cave walls, her rasps and growls are the violent avalanches and cracking of ice sheets, the softness in her singing, her visceral lyrics and visuals all beautifully encapsulate the magic, rawness and wonder of that land. She's a genius and a visionary that has revolutionized the musical world and visual culture. It's a shame how little awareness the general public seems to have of the fact that they're contemporary with a woman who will go down in history as one of the greatest artists, and just how much her work will shape the music and visual arts of the future. She truly is ahead of her time.

I was like sounds like Talvin Singh, realizing the era he was famous in adds up actually - it could be him. So feel free to check out Talvins 90s solo work. Not many people famous in the Western world can do Indian percussion at this level.
