Pretty cool that there’s actually a Mike gain adjustment in the menu. That’s something you don’t see a lot. Just ordered one of these, your video is very informative, thanks!
I've had my FT70D handheld for about 10 weeks now, and I'm still regretting buying it. I'd hoped that I'd become a little more satisfied with the unit over time, but I still have a soured view of the HT due to the battery life, and I've recently had it on the car seat beside me as I was mobile, and it was impossible to adjust the volume without using 2 hands. The unit does have good quality transmit/receive, but I've decided that I'm going to look for a better handheld that better suits my preferences.
They are wanting you to purchase RT Systems software and cable. Worth it to me, works like perfect and no removing battery and unplugging this and plugging that back in.
Fusion is far easier to get into than DMR. I have had a DMR radio for nearly 3 years and herd hardly any digital transmissions or made contact. as soon as I got my fusion radio I herd lots of digital and was able to make contact to people all over the world. ive just got the anytone 868 radio and its been programmed by Moonraker ill put it on my hotspot and try again maybe ill hear dmr
Michael A they programmed lots of repeaters in I’ll put it on my hotspot and give it a try. Not tried it yet.they also programmed what seems like every repeater in the uk on it there is loads to go through I’m still playing with the radio
Fusion is easier. I always hear someone say Fusion/Wires-X is not active when there is plenty of active rooms. Maybe some of the repeaters might not be busy at times, but with a hotspot or Wires-X node there is no excuse. For DMR, should check your DMR codeplug because there is so much traffic on DMR compared to 4 years ago. If you do to the DMR Last Heard dashboard you'll see traffic all around DMR. Find someone to help you.
A quick way I get to PC Mode: 1 - Place both the data and power cable in, power on radio. 2 - Detach power cable, power down. 3 - While holding power button down, re-attach power cable. The radio should say ADMS now.
Thanks Chris for this review of the FT70D. I am waiting to be able to take my test for Technican here in the States. I have purchased the FT70D. Your video was very informative. 73s
I picked up an FT 70D last weekend at the Dayton Hamvention in Xenia Ohio. I will say that I find that the radio transmits and receives very well. The battery has been a big disappointment to me. It takes forever to charge using the wall charger. The price that Yaesu want for a drop-in charger is insane. A Baofeng radio that costs $25 comes with a drop in charger, but this $160 radio doesn't. The programming sequence I agree is 'daft'. I wish that I'd done some more research on the different handhelds before impulse buying this unit. I wish that I could send the radio back to HRO , but the international shipping costs from Canada to the USA is crazy. The radio performs great, but the battery life and charging situation takes the wind out of the sails..
Hi David some good comments there. Is your battery actually going dead and turning off. Because if you ignore the battery indicator it does last a fair while. Not as good as a lot of radios but I can get a day out of it if you implement battery saving. You are correct. You only have to transmit a few times and the battery symbol comes on. But if you ignore it you can get a good use
