So thankful for this series!! As an American full-time reseller who is making a move to Sydney as soon as my partner visa is approved, I have many questions on how to re-start my business in a new country and you are answering them!! Good luck to Courtney and thank you so much for being willing to share your journey - even the small things like where to buy storage bins is truly helpful.

Great start Courtney. I love the books too. Keep an eye out for big coffee table books on outback or rural with great photography, quick sell through, nice prices. Loving those shoe prices, great haul. 🎉
Another option from Australia Post is the Padded Mailer (PM1). They are $1.39 each from retail stores (69c if you buy them in bulk off website), and they incorporate the bubble wrap in the mailer, so you have some protection. I also think it seals it in so you dont get water damage into the Dvd. The PM1 are the correct size for a single Dvd and you can still use the stamp method for postage. I'm thinking Courtney -> Court (for short) -> The judge -> Chief Judge is my submission for Courtney's new nickname. Anyway, Have a happy.
Great series. Ill throw my 2 cents and suggest that she might want to target higher cost higher profit items since her storage space is limited. $10 DVDs arnt going to do much if she cant store 1000s of them.
Great video mate. Very useful info for new starters. I use stamps for any DVD sale under $20 and have had only two items go missing out of almost 1000 sales. Definitely worth going down that path for the cheaper items.
I was shipping a lot of small items at first with postage stamps. I was getting a decent amount of sales, but not uploading a tracking number hurt my stats. I appreciated the sales and the feedback, but once I realized the stamped items were hurting my metrics I bit the bullet and got a label printer.
@@hulkwarrior you MUST make sure you choose the option of "Untracked Item" for Postage Service. Courtney you need to send your items tracked as Ebay are bringing in placing funds on hold until the buyer confirms item has arrived. Could mean you don't get your money for a few weeks.
I use medium postage paid untracked envelopes for my low cost DVDs. Only $3.05 and you don't need to add any stamps as they are postage paid. No issues so far.
Yep I second this. You have to buy in bulk of at least 100 but you save min 0.55 cents + the cost of the envelope when the weight of the large letter is over 125g. You are also allowed to put up to a max of 500g in weight meaning box set dvds can go in there too which can save you up to $3+ on a postage when the weight goes over 250g. Finally they have no expiry so when there is a price rise, stock up and you can maintain the same cost of postage for longer.

Is your store doing no shipping or something because all that goes into the shipping cost and the customer pays that. Well at least here in Canada the only thing the shop owner pays shipping wise is the eBay total value fee which is only 13.25% + 30 cents which eBay takes out of the sale before the shop owner receives it so no out of pocket except for the posting fee and inventory. That is unless they have no shipping and in that case you add that with the price of the product. Because of this she should be getting the money for shipping at the end of the week when eBay pays her so why is she going for the cheapest option where the product could get lost in the mail and she has to give the money back. I am doing research for it here in Canada and most people use flat rate mail here because it also has insurance on it in case it does get lost at lest then she will get some income if it gets lost in the mail and she has to return the money. @@Turd_Ferguson351 Don't let the posing fool you. When I was younger & actually genuinely pretty, I did some part-time modeling while in college & I was still self-conscious & never satisfied at the reflection, always comparing. Now in my early 50s, though I still look younger than my mid-life number, this pandemic has aged me something fierce. Now if I'm to look at a photo of me in my 20s- or my website that has a photo of me in my 40s I feel some empathy for my younger self who was so self-critical. Being as pretty as she is I hope she realizes it, embraces it & treasures it & appreciates how beautiful she looks now & keeps being a kick-ass human on the inside too because those looks do fade, unfortunately. Even supermodel Paulina Poriskova is having a challenging time with the whole I'm not as hot as I used to look thing & she's a year older than I am.
I cannot understand the logic of having a goal of say 300 listings in the store, anyone can do that- it just means you are not selling anything. You want to list desirable items and do away with crap. You can easily have a very successful online selling business with a very small stock holding. Books is obviously a passion for Courtney, she doesn't need to be selling the type of items you do, she needs to find her own niche
I really don’t want to be rude but from the spreadsheet she’s actually only taken $14.44 profit you’ve forgot to take the initial cost of goods bought out. I’m really pleased she’s doing well with her listings and over time I’m sure she will continue to grow her business. Sorry to be a Debbie downer
Profit on goods sold is accurate but her net profit therefore is still only $14.44. Surely that’s something you’d want to see? Again really not trying to hate just trying to help. Love the channel
Use a C5 size envelope (buy a pack of 100 for $8 at the post office). Take to the post office and pay for stamps - under 125g total weight is $2.40, 126-250g is $3.60. Can also send two DVDs in a large A4 envelope for $3.60 untracked or pay $6.40 for a large tracked envelope.

she seems more interested in posing for the camera, looks disinterested, although I get the concept of you helping people starting out.
Hahaha a Gold Coast girl posing for the camera. I'm shocked😅
Welcome in my kitchen 😂
I really don’t want to be rude but from the spreadsheet she’s actually only taken $14.44 profit you’ve forgot to take the initial cost of goods bought out.
I’m really pleased she’s doing well with her listings and over time I’m sure she will continue to grow her business. Sorry to be a Debbie downer
Profit on goods sold is accurate.
Profit on goods sold is accurate but her net profit therefore is still only $14.44. Surely that’s something you’d want to see? Again really not trying to hate just trying to help. Love the channel
@@oliverwebb9017 i'm all over it! thanks mate
The bookworm
Can we have Courtney just have her own YT channel I’m sure she would do great at that too

Thanks for watching Tammy!
You said bookworm and she's made your life a bit silkier so her new name should be little silkworm.???
People still watch DVDs?
Yes
I pay $9.70 to send a DVD, how do I send it for $3-4
Use a C5 size envelope (buy a pack of 100 for $8 at the post office). Take to the post office and pay for stamps - under 125g total weight is $2.40, 126-250g is $3.60. Can also send two DVDs in a large A4 envelope for $3.60 untracked or pay $6.40 for a large tracked envelope.
@@whatkellyfound thank you!!!! How do you put there info on? Just write it off eBay onto the envelope?
@@tylernich0848 Yep, just hand write it.
@@whatkellyfound thankyou so much for your help
@@whatkellyfound if its untracked how does eBay know when its been delivered to release your funds?
She wants to be like Mel (back from burnout)
Just curious - is Courtney your girlfriend :)
