I just found your channel and watched a few videos before looking to see if there are any covering your changes to the van because we are doing the same thing with a 1990s Fiat camper. It was clear from the start that at least one of you has great skill in film making and your chat in this one confirms it ! Your videos are really good quality and always interesting with such varied angles. We live on the west coast of Cumbria and know the hills well, so we know your favourite spot by Ullswater and often stop there ourselves. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of your videos. All the best, Pete
I have just finished watching your Scotland series and wanted to start watching another series because of the quality and candidness of your films. It now makes perfect sense after finding out that this is a hopeful career path for you 2. The production quality is astounding for a youtube vlog . I get turned off of many channels because of their final product, but yours is superb. The lighting and sound quality are terrific. Keep up the good work.
Your filmmaking studies definitely show in your productions, love the scenery montages and appreciate the effort it takes to set up and capture the aerial shots of the van driving through the countryside. We visited the lake ourselves a couple of years ago when I was swimming Coniston Water end to end, and remember hiking up to the top of Helvellen from the visitor centre and looking out over Ullswater. Breathtaking scenery. We got as far as red tarn but the walk up swirls edge to the summit was too really narrow and steep drops, in my older years my legs are telling me they are not happy with heights lol Great video guys and really look forward to watching the next episode. Best wishes Greg
Thanks Greg ☺️ We saw a few wild swimmers at the lakes, braver than me! Some of those mountain hikes are certainly challenging, they can often be more hard going on the knees on the way down than on the way up as well! Walking poles really help we find, they give you so much more stability and on the descent keep you upright taking the load off the knees ☺️
Well done on your uni work both and very well deserved. It’s a pleasure coming out on these adventures and trips out with you both. Love it can’t wait for the next instalment 👍😁
Thank you, really appreciate it. Will make a start on the next episode ASAP. Have been doing some part time work to raise some funds for travelling over the summer holidays. Never enough hours in the week 😅
I do love Cumbria. I took one of my sisters, my daughter and youngest brother several years ago and I’ll never forget it. We stayed in a rental in Hawkshead near Ambelside, both of which are such ice places to visit. Beautiful scenery, wonderful people. I have to say most of the food we found was very ordinary but no one lost any weight. If I could brew beer like the English,I could die a happy man.
Great video guys. I just love watching your adventures and it’s clear you are such a lovely couple that are so loved up,which is nice to see. The ice cream part made me chuckle as my wife is exactly the same lol!
We done both on university such an insurpation to everyone I done a hard land scaping city and guilds not as hard as u but I spent nights up till 2-3am awake doing course work it was hard as I left school at 14 keep up the good work video are amazing
Brilliant love martindale excellent spot to park up really loved the drone footage of going up and down the hill great stuff. Congratulations on your uni success look forward to part 2 hope the rain cleared up wasdale is stunning. So impressed with Florence all the mod cons ATB Leona and chris
You two have got this spot on, your Vlogs are soooo watchable and we wish they came out more often but Quality rather than quantity and your Vlogs are pure quality :-))))
I see from the intro the new clutch is working well. As to the I Scream problem; just be grateful you got yours back. Many a man has lost his permanently.
It all makes sense now the great filming 🙋🏼 well done on your studies both😊 food looked yummy as usual 😋 Lake District on the cards for me and my Camper too😍🚎 happy travelling, Anna x x
It's Saturday morning, off all weekend, I have flu so I am looking forward to eating comfort food and watching all your vlogs as just found your channel yesterday.. I am loving it and your food always looks so nice especially the potatoes x
Ah yes Florence has travelled many more miles since then and she handled them hills well 😊 Scott doesn’t watch a lot of football, so I don’t complain when he wants to watch the World Cup. I’m learning how to use expressive words when England score like “Get in” and fist pumping 😅
Love you two so much...Always look forward to your video's....The content is fantastic. .Love Florence so much...I much prefer the older vans in a lot of ways...Follow your dreams..you may remember me...Life can change so quick....do what you want to do I have loads of regrets..please don't be the same..You are both very good at what you do...you have proved that...I'm sure you could make a very good living at it....others have..look at all the fun you will have...you will never get that back!!! Love to you both xxx
Ah yes I do remember you 🤗 We both have had past lives and now that we’ve found each other are making the most of life for sure. So glad we will have our adventures together there to live on, long after we are gone, cherished memories. That’s one of the things I love about film making ☺️
Congratulations to you both on your Uni success! Brilliant aerial views which for me captured the very essence of the Lakes. I always look forward to viewing your videos. Very pleased with my recent ExplorerBuddies T-Shirt purchase. Cheers JOhnR
Living what should of been a lovely holiday to the lake District through ipyours after the van broke down and we never made it. Your video makes it look extra stunning. Love the ice cream saga!
Usual great vlog and humour, you keep us entertained throughout....love the ice cream, remember what is yours is hers and what is hers is hers, you are on a no win policy...😂😂😂😂😂😂 keep the vlogs coming guys👍

Lovely video guys! Cheesenisia football hahaha.... ironically we just watched the semi sat in New Forest! Look forward to your next one 😃 massive well done on Uni... Clever people 👨🎓👩🎓
So beautiful - so vast - and so empty! Well relatively - enough for me - I haven't been up there since I was at school in the sixties - this is giving me itchy feet!
Lovely Saturday evening viewing. Love the Lake district although been once but I think that looked like the Hallin Fell viewpoint? Congrats both on your University achievements and I hope you fullfill your dream to travel n make films. My youngest is in Bangkok atm travelling as he too is a free spirit.. 6 months after coming home from a year in Oz he was off again. TFS
Thanks Alan. It is indeed. Lovely spot 🤗 That is great your son has found his lust for travel whilst he is young and free, wish we had done the same, we are doing life backwards 😅
Just found this channel and am binge watching you. You're better than TV! Could I ask what is the potato dish you do in your RidgeMonkey? It looks delicious 💚
Hello! We have just started watching episode 1, we spend a lot of time in the Lakes, mostly in Great Langdale, both for work and for leisure, but I have to tell you two things. First, we have a Berlingo camper, which I converted myself, and she is called Florence Wheelbase! haha.... from the reg letters FWB. Anyway, that's not the most important thing I need to tell you. I am also massively allergic to all sorts of insect bites and ended up with cellulitis in both legs a few years ago. My only saviour is Dr.J's Tropical Formula. IT contains Lavendula, Calendula, and Citronella and it costs £1.69 a bottle from Bodycare shops. You can buy it on Amazon but it's a bit more expensive there. I buy six bottles a year in March because it literally saves my life!!! I hope you have some success in defending yourself against the little blighters. I'm so looking forward to watching your videos, right now, and maybe we will even bump into to you, come and visit us in Langdale! Good luck on your travels, Kathryn & Michael x
OK, so we just watched this! We're totally hooked, and yes you visited our part of the world! So happy you enjoyed the campsite and we're really looking forward to watching your next installment! Thank you!
@@kathrynthompson7914 Glad you like the video, seems like ages since our visit to the gorgeous lakes. Thanks for the information on the cream and hope to see you on the road one day :-)
I have be bitten twice in 3 weeks and got celluitis both times..I was told vapour rub works too..just put a little on ankles, knees behind your ears...x
Oh poor you, it’s horrid isn’t it! I heard about the vapour rub. This spray seemed to do the trick though, I wasn’t bitten once in the week I was on the lakes. I was very vigilant and reapplied it every 2 hours ☺️
thats so cool you guys are pursuing your education, i'm impressed with your forward thinking outlook just got done watching england v sweden on a lazy July here in Montana had to go inside because a momma bear and her cubs are in the backyard digging up an anthill
it will bring a smile to you guys.... our free roaming cats here are Felis concolor, Lynx canadensis and the ever so social (not!!!! ) Bobcat, Lynx rufus....i love wild cats( btw preserve the Scottish wildcat a reminder of....and to be so granted the space to thrive hopefully.... of the wild Britain you guys so delight in and so eloquently share)...and with or without Florence..... if you ever venture into our backyard give us a shout out...
Congratulations on your successes at university. You cracked me up with the 'Support the Lake District. Buy an ice cream.' BTW how do you power the flat screen? Have you always had it? What was it like to install?
Hey, it is a 12v TV but we run it from the inverter. We actually bought it from the Indie Projects last year before our trip to Snowdonia. Straightforward to install. Love the atmosphere of watching a good film or TV series in the van 😊
Thanks for continuing to share your films, always a great watch. Just wonder what film degree course you are doing? How did you find going to uni as an older student?
It’s a film and media production foundation degree. You really get out of uni what you put in. Scott has developed an excellent relationship with his class mates, they think he’s a legend 😅, I haven’t particularly bonded with any of my class mates, the one frustrating thing is the lack of passion for the subject by many of the younger students. Having spent time working in the real world I see uni as a privilege, some of the kids just have no idea how hard life is going to get for them once they leave the bubble of education. But I have a very good relationship with my tutors, they are more like mates. It just gives us the space and time to focus on developing our film production skills. With access to equipment and facilities. We have definitely become better film makers, more quickly as a result of it. We have also taken part in a lot of work experience in different genres of film making, from live surgery in a hospital to music videos. The course has allowed us to have a go at every genre and find our path with it. For me I just love travel documentaries. When I started I just wanted to make music videos!
Thanks for that reply. Interestingly my local college does a part time media production foundation degree, which is something to look at! I don't think I can realistically afford it right now, I never went to Uni so missed that part of life! UA-cam is my current tutor.
A foundation degree is 3 days per week with long holidays. You can apply for student finance (depending on your income) but has to be paid back at the rate of 10% of your income over 21k once the course is completed. There are lots of self taught film makers who are very successful. You have to be very disciplined though, it is easy to procrastinate. I like having set days which are all about learning and focusing on film. I pretty much spend all my time on it though. If I’m not doing it, I’m editing or thinking about the next film. It’s a massive passion for me 😊
Went a whole week without a single bite! I was very vigilant and reapplied it every 2 hours when I was out ☺️ This is the exact stuff I used: www.theneemteam.co.uk/herbal-outdoor-spray.html
Thank you 😊 Ooh now that would be a dream!! We would love to come to the states! It’s a challenge just finding the money to travel around the U.K. at the moment 😬
Strange seeing duvet jackets and rain? Here in North Wales I've been in T shirts and shorts for a month and the grass is going brown! I parked my V Dub just behind the chuch from where you parked up- last year. You haven't got the views down the valley towards the lake but pretty good views looking towards Place Fell and Martindale. Not sure what it would be like in summer as I intend to keep well away from the Lakes in peak holiday season as its just too busy.
This episodes content was filmed 3 weeks ago. The heatwave hit just as we left the Lake District. It’s very pretty by that church. Scott and I went in there when it was empty and did a pretend wedding ceremony, haha it was very silly and cute. Didn’t film it though, far too soppy 😅
Lovely church with some amazing gravestones...if you're into gravestones! I used to stay in Martindale a lot, just down the road in a lovely cottage-Coogarth- which you could hire at very reasonable rates. I've got a vlog on my channel filmed hereabouts.Just downloading a road trip vlog filmed the other day in the Elan Valley. Another of your vanlife haunts. Impressed with your very professional video skills BTW!
Hi Guys. We have been so inspired by your videos, that two months ago we bought our first camper. We have only managed two trips before lockdown but our trips have been amazing so far. Could you tell us where your little fire pit (featured in this episode) comes from as we would love to buy one. Can’t wait to see more content from you guys. Regards Robbie and Pauline
Hello guys, love the videos. I also get a bad reaction to bites and didn't get on with high "deet" content, so wanted to try something organic. Survivalrussia has just done a video on homemade bug cream.ATB👍👍👍
Wow, wow wow...very impressive videography - a combination of short shots, creative images, great scenes/content, good editing, etc., etc., - viewers just don't realise the work/hours and effort that is needed to make stuff like this, but that is what good film making is all about! I just wish other creators put half the effort/time/expertise into making their content, ie., learned a bit about videography, as most of it is crap technically and detracts from the story even though I follow van travellers out of interest.
Thank you, that is really kind of you 😊 We have a love for what we do, so although it takes a lot of work and time, we enjoy the process of film production. It is also take around 2 days to edit one episode so I can see why more people don’t do it, you need to have a lot of free time. We are certainly struggling with the life, work, film making balance. Got to to do other work to pay the bills and there just isn’t enough time to put into getting films out more frequently.
Explorer Buddies - I know exactly what you are saying! And to do a good edit you need a variety/lot of shots - which you have - and that takes time and effort. Have you tried Patreon for financial support! Anyway, hope you can keep up the good work!!!
I don’t feel like our content is regular enough at the moment to justify asking people to become Patreons. It might be something we consider in the future though 😊
Just to let you know that my partner Sue gets bitten very badly every year! She researched and asked loads of advice and eventually plumped for (Skin so soft by Avon) Its used by the Army so you can't get a better reference than that! And IT WORKS! She says its brilliant!
Hey, I do have the Avon skin so soft, but sadly it doesn’t work for me. You can’t put it on your clothes either as it is oil based. This spray I got is water based so I can put it all over and even in my hair without being all greasy. I didn’t get bitten in the week I was in the lakes, I was very vigilant and reapplied it every 2 hours. So fingers crossed I have a solution 🤗
Ellie to save yourself from being a meal on foot to every winged insect buy some 'Mosquito Milk' online. I went camping in the Tambopata region of the Amazon Jungle in 2012 and this stuff really worked its awesome and no better place to try it out than the Amazon. Go luck .....Diesel Dave
Ooh interesting! I actually managed to go bite free for the whole week with the neem spray, so fingers crossed I may have found my solution, but will bare the mossy milk in mind 😊
Awsome both well done on passing your exams I genuinely hope you get to the end off your goal, far as I can see you make better films/videos than the rubbish they put on t. v 😉 loving the work both loving the work 👍 I also love Mr whippy 😂😂😂😂
£4.00 for an ice cream in the Lake District wouldn't surprise me, the problem is most the time with the high prices you never get good quality or value for your money.
I happily be your first customer £50 for 1/2 day get 11 others £600 for you find a place to meet (do a deal with a campsite mid Country) offer it out there with some dates for people to pick the best of On a first come basis let the campsite sort the rest you just run 1/2 day have some beers 🍺 and on the way Set a deadline for numbers if it’s not doable Re plan ! LOL you will have to come for a sail with us? I will shut up now ! I’m off to see Wales in the sun ! 👍😀🐾
You do know Scott will now be hassling me to make this happen, when he returns from his wild camping adventure, he is somewhere up in snowdonia at the moment 😅
Excellent vid now I see why your vids are so good because you are qualified professionals!! (well done) I have an idea 💡 if you haven’t thought of it already why not organise a camping weekend and run workshop on vid making, editing, cooking ? Charge for the weekend you can also invite others there to run things too too? Find a venue set up a partnership with them they run the camping and booking you run the rest Start small aiming to run 2 or 3 per year in different locations so it easy to get to one of them for everyone. This has the potential for good income helping cover your traveling and looking living cost ! Sorry it’s the businessman in me and I can see this sort of event going to happen Best Regards Dave, Jo and Louie 👍😀🐾
Hey, thanks for the advice. Before we were film makers, we were professional photographers and we did run a few creative workshops but they were very stressful to run. Difficult to market. They took a lot of energy for not a very big return. We are planning to produce some vlogging technique video tutorials for our channel though and have already started a cooking blog on our website 😊
Explorer Buddies cool it’s all up to you there just the consideration you need to make is about make enough money to be happy that enables you to do what you like to do and wen and where I’m sure what ever you do it will be successful The marketing will be a lot easier for this sort of event the van and adventure community is very ready for it to happen However the only Judgment in life are you happy and its always good to have a plan with 3 questions : Where are you now? Where do you won’t to be? And how are you getting to get there? Love you work hope to bump in to you someday Sorry if this all seams a bit strange I work for n personal development and. I set up and run a charity called Catzero if you are interested go to www.Catzero.org there’s a UA-cam link on there about our race oh yacht that we use too Best Regards Dave Jo and Louie 👍😀🐾
Scott would like to do it I know, but he is far more confident with people than I am. I guess I always feel like we are still learning and have much to improve, so we are not in a position to ask people to pay us to teach them. That’s how I always felt with the photography workshops we ran. Plus I’m the one that does all the paperwork and organisation so it is less fun for me 😅 Wow your charity looks like an incredible asset for your community, good for you, you are really giving something back there 🤗
Explorer Buddies you will get there confidence is the main thing that stop people the thing to do is ask what’s the worst that can happen and see risks as an adventure and enjoyable challenge anyway that’s more than enough of my waffle Looking forward to seeing your next vid We are on a 2 week road trip around Wales and loving the weather Best Regards Dave, Jo and Louie 👍😀🐾
You are absolutely right. We ran 5 workshops for photography. I enjoyed the first one. On reflection I now wish we had started making films back then. I think online content has far more potential for bringing in revenue. Once it is on UA-cam it will continue to have views, bringing in a small monthly income. I like being able to edit the content so we get it right 😉
Haha what’s mine is yours, that’s the laws of marriage 😅 We are learning everyday and still have much more to learn. It’s awesome to have a subject we are passionate about to practice our film making on 🤗
Hi all. Stunning beautiful film. Wishes you all FORVER safe fun travels. X

Cheers Charlie 🤗🚐
If your up in Scotland regarding Midges's everybody uses a product called "skin so soft" by Avon. It's a dry oil spray. It does work well.
Do you want one ? No ,, as much as I love you Ellie, you wouldn't get the ice cream 😂😂😂
Love the Lake District! Went to Dove Cottage/Wm Wordsworth & Beatrix Potter's home... oh I miss England.

Explorer Buddies fabulous...will try it..thank you..x
that had me laughing till my eyes watered!!!!!!!!
😅
Would you consider writing a cookbook? We watch your videos and believe that you have something there.
thats so cool you guys are pursuing your education, i'm impressed with your forward thinking outlook just got done watching england v sweden on a lazy July here in Montana had to go inside because a momma bear and her cubs are in the backyard digging up an anthill
Wow how amazing, I get excited when a cat comes to visit our garden 😅
it will bring a smile to you guys.... our free roaming cats here are Felis concolor, Lynx canadensis and the ever so social (not!!!! ) Bobcat, Lynx rufus....i love wild cats( btw preserve the Scottish wildcat a reminder of....and to be so granted the space to thrive hopefully.... of the wild Britain you guys so delight in and so eloquently share)...and with or without Florence..... if you ever venture into our backyard give us a shout out...
Hey guys hope ur well what boots do u were matey
It’s a massive passion for me 😊
Grate film again guys 👍 how did you get on with the stuff to stop kleg bights ?? My wife is the same they always get her too
Went a whole week without a single bite! I was very vigilant and reapplied it every 2 hours when I was out ☺️ This is the exact stuff I used: www.theneemteam.co.uk/herbal-outdoor-spray.html
Cheers we are away to Arran on the west coast of Scotland in a weeks time with are camper so we will give it a go 😎👍👊🏽
Good Information
Love your van. Such a nice couple. When are you coming to the states?
Hey, glad you like the video and great that you have a camper yourself. The fire pit was a old BBQ we had. 😀
Thanks guys. Can’t wait to see more content from you both
Hello guys, love the videos.
Love the vids by the way, brilliant filming!
Thanks Bret, who knows what life has in store for us but we are enjoying the journey together 🤗
£4.00 for an ice cream in the Lake District wouldn't surprise me, the problem is most the time with the high prices you never get good quality or value for your money.
🙏❤️👍
Watch Terry Abrahams life of mountain films
...good luck folks ...with all you do
😳 WHAT? This has ANY DISLIKES, never mind 2????? WHO THE HELL DISLIKES THIS????????😂😂😂
I happily be your first customer £50 for 1/2 day get 11 others £600 for you
find a place to meet (do a deal with a campsite mid Country) offer it out there with some dates for people to pick the best of
On a first come basis let the campsite sort the rest you just run 1/2 day have some beers 🍺 and on the way
Set a deadline for numbers if it’s not doable Re plan !
Find a venue set up a partnership with them they run the camping and booking you run the rest
Start small aiming to run 2 or 3 per year in different locations so it easy to get to one of them for everyone. This has the potential for good income helping cover your traveling and looking living cost !
Sorry it’s the businessman in me and I can see this sort of event going to happen
Best Regards Dave, Jo and Louie 👍😀🐾
Hey, thanks for the advice. Before we were film makers, we were professional photographers and we did run a few creative workshops but they were very stressful to run. Difficult to market. They took a lot of energy for not a very big return. We are planning to produce some vlogging technique video tutorials for our channel though and have already started a cooking blog on our website 😊
Explorer Buddies cool it’s all up to you
there just the consideration you need to make is about make enough money to be happy that enables you to do what you like to do and wen and where
I’m sure what ever you do it will be successful
The marketing will be a lot easier for this sort of event the van and adventure community is very ready for it to happen
However the only Judgment in life are you happy and its always good to have a plan with 3 questions :
Where are you now? Where do you won’t to be? And how are you getting to get there?
Love you work hope to bump in to you someday
Sorry if this all seams a bit strange I work for n personal development and. I set up and run a charity called Catzero if you are interested go to www.Catzero.org there’s a UA-cam link on there about our race oh yacht that we use too
Best Regards
Dave Jo and Louie 👍😀🐾
Scott would like to do it I know, but he is far more confident with people than I am. I guess I always feel like we are still learning and have much to improve, so we are not in a position to ask people to pay us to teach them. That’s how I always felt with the photography workshops we ran. Plus I’m the one that does all the paperwork and organisation so it is less fun for me 😅
Wow your charity looks like an incredible asset for your community, good for you, you are really giving something back there 🤗
Explorer Buddies you will get there confidence is the main thing that stop people the thing to do is ask what’s the worst that can happen and see risks as an adventure and enjoyable challenge anyway that’s more than enough of my waffle
Looking forward to seeing your next vid
We are on a 2 week road trip around Wales and loving the weather
Best Regards Dave, Jo and Louie 👍😀🐾
You are absolutely right. We ran 5 workshops for photography. I enjoyed the first one. On reflection I now wish we had started making films back then. I think online content has far more potential for bringing in revenue. Once it is on UA-cam it will continue to have views, bringing in a small monthly income. I like being able to edit the content so we get it right 😉
#relationshipgoals
Yup....it's a universal law...man have food....woman will eat it ;-) Can't tell you two are degree educated film makers at all! ;-)
Haha what’s mine is yours, that’s the laws of marriage 😅 We are learning everyday and still have much more to learn. It’s awesome to have a subject we are passionate about to practice our film making on 🤗
This is so forced and cringeworthy, but if that if is your thing, live and let live I guess.....
