Over the past few years, this has turned into my dream car. And I've started working towards a software engineering career for the sole purpose of owning one of these one day
Great cars. I owned a Guards Red mk1 CS, 10 years ago. Superb car. I’m now back in a 996 mk2 GT3. Equally as good and I love it. They’re all great. To anyone thinking of owning one, get one bought!
If they were still $50 or $60k, I would. Now at ~$100k, it's still a fantastic GT3, but the Turbo can be had for ~50k and is probably the smarter buy. It would only cost $50k to get a regular C2 and swap in GT3 suspension and a newer Boxster/Cayman 4.0 engine.
I have the Biarritz White GT3 Mk1 Clubsport ( only RHD one in Europe) , it is truly amazing, the right size, the right power for normal roads, it has antilock brakes a full roll cage and a fire extinguisher… proper analogue Porsche. Huge fun. Beautiful proportions, elegant rear wing, delightful stance on the road. If you have one I highly recommend you set the suspension to those setting recommended by Roland Kussmaul… really brings the chassis to life and perfect for both road and track use.
The compact size of early 911's makes driving on UK roads so much more pleasurable , like people in the UK , cars have all got really fat...and the roads haven't. 3 years ago you could pick up a very good one for £60k , now they're £90k!
Two years ago I bought a 996.2 GT3 Clubsport. That car puts a smile on my face, every second I drive it. It feels like everything is coming together. As you say there are much faster cars around but do they feel better? Also it is a dream on twisty, narrow mountain roads. I can only encourage petrol heads to buy one - but only when you drive it, don‘t put it on display as a garage queen.
and don't buy it as an "investment" all it does is ruin the market and make you precious about driving the car as it should be.....flat out on track days
Great video man! Thanks for the short view of your heel-toe! I hope that you will continue to include more views of your footwork for next driving videos! ;)
Fantastic cars. I had a speed yellow 996.1 GT3 Club Sport for 12 years and was by far the best car I've owned. Epic car especially after I had the Manthey K400 upgrade. Only car I didn't loose money on though they've gone up in value since I sold mine 6 years ago. Really miss that car.
I’m purchasing one tuned with the Manthey Racing K400 kit in replacement of my loved 993… and there is no words to describe the way this car feels & delivers!! It’s fantastic 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@mafiamada let’s know how you are getting on with yours. Currently seating in a 993 lightweight I love to bits and I keep looking at the 996GT3. But I’ve invested a little fortune on my 993, I worry about being let down after coming from a 997 previously
Mk1 996 gt3 is the purest gt3 out there (specially the EU cars since they were not drive by wire, USA cars were all equipped with electronic throttle control unlike EU)…. I know a couple of guys that own most Porsche gt models, and the one they always gravitate towards when they want a raw car for the track is the mk1 996 gt3. If I had the money I would 100% buy one of these beautys. P.S. You should buy yours back (;
Why pay $100K for a 996 gt3 vs. say a 2024 Supra for $60-70k? Seriously what am I missing. I have a 996 turbo cab that I love. But I’m debating what next and this question perplexes me
I love the naivety of the title ... as if any 911 let alone a GT3, let alone a 996 is attainable for more than about 5% of the population 🤣 I enjoyed the video. Lovely, lovely car. What dreams are made of!!
@@markscarjournal I know , it's also used by our friends in the US which is why we have started using it more recently but back in the day you would always refer to it as " the engine" ...the whole car was a "motor"...especially in Kent and Essex...😆

When I was younger I hated the headlight cluster, now I'm obsessed!
Never understood the hate on the lights. Maybe it is everything else on the car that compensate, but it was and still is such a nice looking car.
Even the early cars with the fried eggs!

Yes, cars have definitely gotten too big! Part of the reason why we loved the 996 so much!
I had three 996 GT3 Clubsports, modelyear 2001. Many factory upgrades. The rarest GT3 ever made. Only 508 made worldwide. Just about 125 CS…
Awesome video! You summed up the 996 perfectly, great having you down for the day!
Pleased you guys liked it! Was great to meet the team and can't wait to do more with you!
@@markscarjournal The 0-60 time is 4.6 seconds it’s actually faster then you mentioned after the edit. The 0-62 time is 4.8 seconds.
Can’t wait to get my Porsche 🚗

Congratulations on your 996.2 GT3 Clubsport! Always fantastic to hear people enjoying their cars, long may it continue!

Great video! Absolutely love my speed yellow Mk 1 CS with about 30,000 miles. It’s a keeper. 😍
Thank you very much. Speed Yellow is a heck of a colour.
This & a 996.2 GT2 are still 2 cars I aspire to get my hands on. One day..
Keep working on it!
996.1 GT3 is still so brilliant.
The way you smacked the dash lol
My favourite GT3, if just because of that gruff coarse sounding thoroughbred motorsport mezger engine❤️
It’s a wonderful engine!
Love it !! Thank you
Thank you!
Would love one but they are still way over priced in Canada

Have you driven the GT3 yet? If not, go and get behind the wheel of one. Much more focused than a new Supra!

With me it would be.. what car you got? 'GT3 911..'
nice but the Turbo is much better value, and better looking.
I think you mean BUY a 996.1 GT3 IF you can, wish I had 100k+ to spare.
You can actually pick them up for around £85k - £90k as stated in the video, so you’re actually a little closer to affording one than you thought.
Take your time. I did it after 20 years…and I love it
Amazing, glad to hear you're enjoying it!
Is 90k really good deal for a 996.1? You can find 997 for not much more
What? buy a 911 GT3 while you still can? Here in the US is $100K
If only I could afford one
It could happen, you never know!
Sexy lines, what dreams are made of ❤
As good as this is, Porsche has diluted the gt3 with so many GT vehicles.
Motor ? Did they do an EV version of the 996 GT3? 😂
The term motor car/vehicle or using it as a substitute for the word engine predates the electrification of cars by quite some time …
