Gran Turismo: Out of bounds secrets at the Top Gear Test Track
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- In my last video, we explored the mystery infield layout of Special Stage Route X together. Following on from that, I decided to take the debug camera out of bounds on other tracks to see what I could find. One circuit that really surprised me was the Top Gear Test Track. I really didn't expect it to yield much, but it really exceeded my expectations. So, let's take a look around together.

You should take a look at London next. It's kinda spooky how much of it there is to explore.
Such a shame they didn’t carry the London Track over since :/
I thought the same, perhaps even Madrid
Thanks for the suggestion! I've just released a video on Spa, and then I'd like to do Monza, but then I'm open to suggestions. :) So I'll check that out!
03:46 - Also possible that it’s a 90s Impreza WRX. -But more likely right with your first guess.- The more I look at it the more I think it’s a WRX with an aftermarket Syms wing.
05:16 - That’s a Citroen Xantia.
09:41 - That’s a VW Bora.
12:30 - That’s an ATC (Air Traffic Control) tower.
90s Impreza was my first thought when I saw it
@@JamboP26 Same.
I would say it looks more GC8 than a Prelude, judging by the shape of the brake light
That's an Impreza WRX with a big wing, you can see that from the side view next to it
@@JamboP26 Me too, kinda those spoilers fits only on WRX
That white car would be a ford capri
Yes, an early one I think, because of the 2 long"air intakes", maybe 1969?
This might sound wierd, but I think it's a Morris Marina.
And I think the other black car is a 1991 Ford Fiesta which I think it was a very popular in UK at that time. It could also be a Renault Clio of 1998
@@destructionfun2Def a Mk.1 Capri. Probably early 70s. That window line is unmistakable.
@Damar Fadlan that car doesn't exists mate, and either way it ain't similar at all
Since these buildings around the circuit were used by the crew for recording and production of the tv show, I did a little research to see which episodes they filmed with a Testarossa. To my surprise, I didn't find any, there is an old episode, before the Clarkson era, where they make a versus between Testarossa and Countach and another more recent one with the same cars, but already in The Grand Tour.
the cars there are not always for recording, sometimes for visitors to park there too.
I did the same thing as, like you, I thought it might be the Top Gear car park, which has featured in a few episodes. But yeah, no Testarossa appearances. :(
@02:48 White Ford Capri MK1 & Dark Blue Volkswagen Golf MK3 @03:26 Red Fiat Punto @03:53 Silver Subaru Impreza WRX 1st Generation @04:09 Red Hyundai Coupe RD @05:17 Red Citroen Xantia @06:04 White Suzuki Jimny 2nd Generation @06:49 Red Peugeot 405 @09:41 Black Volkswagen Bora
One's I'm less sure off @05:53 Black Mercedes-Benz C126 @05:58 Black Mercedes-Benz W201 @07:00 Black Daihatsu YRV
That silver car @ 3:46 is def a GC8 WRX, and I think they’re the same car on both photos at different angles. The wing on the side profile definitely screams STi GC8
In old versions you could glitch outside the playable area. So I believe that these building have been explored a lot.
Hmm, I believe GT5 has a feature whereby it resets your car if you do glitch out of bounds. I remember glitching out of SSRX to take a look at the infield track better, but sadly I just got reset.
@2:53 I feel like that is a Capri. They were europe/UK cars that we had in the US a little bit, but mostly seen or heard about in the UK. Would have been a classic by the time this was taken, like the Testarossa
6:03 that Suzuki Samurai looks like to be the same one Richard Hammond used for the Cheap Police Car Challenge, which aired around the same time.
Playing Gran Turismo 5 at Top Gears peak in 2010 felt amazing! Definitely made great memories
its not his never had a spare tire
and if it did it would be thr gmc sonoma type wheel
Call me a cynic but it day it looks a little smaller than a Vitara, personally I think it could be an old Suzuki SJ
Doesn't resemble a Vitara but more a Samurai if you ask me just look at the bonnet it's more squared off and has the vents on the side of it
If you plate check that Iveco van at 10:00, S56 RLA, that’s actually a real reg that was on that Iveco van, although it wasn’t taxed or MOT’d after 2009.
Amazing info!
Absolutely love the music choice in this one! Oldskool drum n' bass is such a vibe
Test Drive Unlimited vibes
@@IanRB26 Ooooooo kind of! I was thinking more Ridge Racer or the first Gran Turismo.
aye
@@NatsukiMogiIsBestGirl ridge racer
@@safeasf_uck7020 I never knew they made a PC version of Unbound. That must've been interesting
6:04 that could be the Suzuki that Hammond used in the Police Interceptor challenge
Hammond used in fact a Vitara for that challenge, but this one more closelly resembles a 2nd gen Jimny, I don't think it is.
Just imagine if they captured it before its transformation, that would be something
I'm impressed you're this impressed at real life textures used in games, having played around with freecam in games like rfactor with mods it's super common. Most of the time crowd is real people, they use photos for textures, and google earth imagery as base to build on. Very common for so called BTB/RTB tracks (made using bobs track builder/race track builder) that has built in google earth import. You also very often find low poly scenery car that are textured using pictures of someone's car as well. Still, very interesting exploration of the scenery, I love doing that personally.
Very curious about other real life tracks in GT5, I feel like these techniques notably the google earth base layer will be used a lot. Sadly it's not in GT5, but I bet GT6's Bathurst would be a super interesting free cam journey just judging by the massive satellite plane you can see in game.
The odd building at 10:56 may be some commentary booth, perhaps for producers to watch over when filming?
Now for the car guesses:
2:35 Ford Capri Mk1 for the white car
3:45 Impreza Mk1, you can see the red part of the taillight warps around the grey part on the edge so it's not a prelude
5:17 Citroen Xantia for the red sedan, and very nice guess on the van its a C15 indeed
9:46 Volkswagen Bora?
Have you ever considered checking out the QA build for GT5? Noticed a lot of interesting small changes that have yet to be documented on UA-cam nor TCRF including an Alternative Top Gear track with scenary objects for the beta Top Gear Special Event.
I didn't know that was released! Do you have a download link please? :)
@@MattJ155 It's on internet archive i think
@10:55 this small building is/was a McLaren hospitality suite - hence the SLR
Amazing vid. I always held both Gran Turismo 5 and Top Gear on a pedestal for being the best automotive enjoyment I could find. Your deep dive into the out-of-bounds on this nostalgic map was awesome
Thank you!
Also that little white truck at 6:05 is a Suzuki Samurai...even smaller than the Vitara.
The silver car at 3:50 is definitely either a Prelude or 90s Subaru Impreza. Either way it's got a big wing on the trunklid.
Another awesome video, love the concept of these videos! I had a little game with myself and guessed the cars in the video
3:13 would be a mk1 Ford Capri and a mk3 golf possibly
3:32 as you said in the video could be a Ford ka or smart car but I also think it resembles a mk1 daewoo matiz
3:43 looks to be a Subaru Impreza
5:14 is a Citroen Xantia or maybe even a Renault 19 and a Citroen C15 van
5:50 looks to be either an old Mercedes 560 sec or a bmw E23
6:07 looks to be a Suzuki SJ or vitara (as mentioned in the video)
6:25 is definitely a Peugeot 106
6:53 looks like an old Suzuki swift, possibly a k10 micra or as said on the video a Citroen Xantia
7:00 Peugeot 107, Ford Transit, Mini, Chevy blazer or Ford explorer?, VW Golf and a Porsche Cayenne
7:27 Bmw 1 Series (as mentioned in the video)
7:59 Renault megane and a 106 (as mentioned in the video)
8:11 Ford Fiesta (as mentioned in the video)
8:30 possibly an EC9 civic
8:49 definitely a very fast boat man
9:43 VW Bora
Silver car is a GC8 Impreza.
You should do other tracks in one mega video with tracks like Trial Mountain, Rome, Eiger Nordwand, and more, these are interesting to watch!
Yessss
Thanks for the suggestion and I'm glad you like the videos!
Ok so I tried to do this without listening or reading any guesses to prevent any bias, the comment itself is written afterwards.
2:45 Dark grey car, seems like an Opel Kadett (I think it was the first gen Vauxhall Astra in UK.
The white muscle car resembles a Chevelle or an Oldsmobile 422 but the small air intake is throwing me off as I can only remember the Mustang and the Camaro having them.
The red one, you got it.
3:45 I think it is closer to a Subaru Impreza 22B, altho' it's uncommon to see them in anything other than blue.
5:15 No, that is not a Megane, that is the iconic profile of a Citroën Xantia.
In front of it is the undestroyable Citroën C15
6:05 It is in fact a Suzuki, but not a Vitara, it more accurately resembles the 2nd gen Jimny.
6:20 Spot on!!
6:45 Probably the same Xantia as in the other picture, same car, same color.
7:00 Left to right, just guesses, I can't be sure of most of them:
1.: An old Toyota Yaris or a Megane 3 with blacked out tail lights
2.: Volkswagen LT or Renault Traffic T1000
3.: You're right, it has to be a Mini
4.: This one is a mess
5.: My only guess is a Volkswagen Polo 3
6.: It most definitelly is a 1st gen Porsche Cayenne, second option a Hyundai Tucson
7:25 Yep, a BMW, that was easy.
7:55 That one yes, this is the Renault Megane, but as you noticed, the hatchback version.
The Peugeot 106 is also right.
I do also agree on the Ford Fiesta.
8:20 I think it might be a Polaris Sportsman or something along those lines, it also looks like it has a trailer attached.
8:25 Your guess is as good as mine, I'd say a 1999 Ford Mondeo.
9:40 Neither of them, that's a Volkswagen Bora.
I love doing this, I'll be glad to give my guesses in the next one!!!!
I would love this track to return in a future update of GT7 or something like the next game
They probably don’t have the license anymore for Top Gear after GT5
Although it has nostalgic value to many petrol heads, in reality its a rubbish track no?
I was excited to get it in games but when I did I never really enjoyed driving it all that much, best in the capable use of motoring journalists
the white one is a Ford Capri (check out the distinctive C pillar)
Exactly right 👍
Babe wake up new gt lore just dropped
The numberplate on the Iveco van at 9:59 is the correct reg!! Just looked it up on MOT check.
I think the red car parked next to the Citroen C15 is actually a Citroen Xantia. Very nice video!
Top Gear was a peak show back in early 2010's ngl. It's still around today but with different presenters, back then the show was honestly one of the best I've ever watched
I love this series, keep going ❤️
Thank you!
Very interesting, it would be cool to visit the other tracks as well
Very interesting, thanks for showing us a whole new world in the GT games.. I would say the cars in the bitmaps are "incidentals" because they didn't have time to remove them from the "purposed"
bitmap used to 3D model the building facia
Awesome findings ! ( it could be a game to take pictures of cars, transforming them a little and guess from which car the picture was from )
What a tune you got in the back props for using it
2:50 the white car looks like a mk3 Capri, the black one looks a bit like an old Audi, either a 1st gen A4 or it's predecessor, the 80.
3:58 is 100% a Subaru Impreza, most likely a Turbo 2000, but also possibly an imported WRX/WRX STI.
5:19 the red car outside SGG looks like a Peugeot 406
7:10 from left to right, mk5 Golf, not sure, possibly a Vauxhall Combo, a proper Mini, too unclear, mk4 Golf, Porsche Cayenne.
9:42 VW Bora. You were close enough with mk4 Golf though, the Bora was the saloon version. The Bora's headlights are squared off.
12:30 is the air traffic control tower. I'm pretty sure they've filmed from up there before, I want to say when they had to Zonda R but I'm not certain.
The red car is a Citroen Xantia.
2:46 my guess that is a MK4 Fiesta facelift, 9:46 looks more like a 2000 model VW Jetta
More likely a Mk.3 Fiesta. And that’s a Bora.
@@ParallelSyntax bora is a jetta, different name. same car bud
Can't believe you didn't mention the fact that the plane is a prop from the casino royale film.
5:58 Porsche 928 and a Suzuki Vitara. That Suzuki could be the one from that police episode where Hammond was driving it.
Correct. And the 928 could've been Clarkson's Ambulance challenge car....
I wish I was unknowingly immortalized in Gran Turismo 5 since around 2009 😔
5:19 Citroen Xantia and Citroen C15 van
9:47
To me, that car looks more like a Volkswagen Jetta.
It’s a Bora.
@@ParallelSyntax Exactly.
The white car pictured with the Testarossa looks familiar because it's a Ford Capri.
03:12- Ferrari Testarossa, Ford Capri and Vauxhall Corsa B.
05:33- Citroen Xantia and Citroen C15.
06:04- Mercedes and Suzuki Samurai.
06:42- Renault Midlum (inside of garage) and Renault 19 (outside of Garage).
07:00- Volkswagen Golf V, Mercedes Van, Mini Cooper, Vauxhall Corsa C, VW Golf IV and Porsche Cayenne.
08:20- Quad Bike with a Hot Wheels logo in it.
08:28- Possibly a VW Passat Variant.
09:45- Volkswagen Bora.
11:24- Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren on poster.
the guy on the small boat now has a army of himself
I gotta say I'd absolutely love to see more out of bounds footage from other racing games! Especially some Need For Speed games and maybe some classic ones
That building on the track looks like the infamous portacabin
12:43 there seems to be the face of a man working probably at a computer, you can see his glasses
The Dark Gray car at 2:48 does remind me of a Facelifted MK3 Ford Fiesta. But it could really be any small hatchback from around the mid 90s to early 00s
that cfs would be Cranleigh freight services. i went to a college in Cranleigh and got the opportunity to sit in the passenger seat of one of those lorries and go around the outside of the top gear track and i also walked around the outside of the top gear track too. 😊 another time i got to drive some go karts on the over run too. good times they were and they were testing the mclaren MP4-12C on that day too. maybe they are tested there. the boeing jet was in casino royale apparently. apparently i was told that the runway was too short for the jet to take off but the engines are fake on it. not sure though 🙂
Love your GT content bro. Keep it coming
2:45 quite simple, the White Car it's a Ford Capri ;)
I never knew that Top Gear Test course was an actual course in Gran Turismo.
Make F1 race there
In GT5 you just have to beat the first race of the Top Gear event in the Special events to unlock the track in Arcade mode
What Gran Turismo is it? 5? 6? or will it be the PS4 Sport? It's great to find these secrets in the GT. 2:49 The car next to the Testarossa is a Ford Capri Ghia (Mk1) apparently from the 70s. 5:50 is a Mercedes Benz 450/500 SLC from the late 70's early 80's. Since I was little I acquired the ability to recognize any car just by seeing part of the bodywork. The rest of the cars you have correctly identified. Obviously, seeing that some are a bit blurry, it is difficult to guess. I congratulate you that you made a fantastic video. 💪👏👏
13:56 its James May
I would love to see if there's anything on some of the city tracks, maybe some stuff on the special stage route tracks?
The special stage tracks seem to be connected
The Nürburgring should be interesting with this camera aswell
Maybe the last building is some kind of control tower?
凄い👀

This would be good to try on the Forza version of the track
That man has been sitting there working for the past 12 years straight.
9:46 look at those squared headlights, it's clearly a VW Bora
That poster at 4:09 reminds me ALOT of Daytona International Speedway
BRING BACK SO MANY MEMORIES
That black hatchback by the Ferarri looks like a Vauxhaull/Opel Corsa or Astra hatch.
Damn, they don't need to render the cars as part of the environment, just make the buildings has collision physics and areas driveable, adds some cars from the game instead or no cars at all and you'll have a photographic sandbox area.
This thing is too dedicated for stuffs that are not expected to be come upon.
That white car close to the Testarossa looks like a Capri. And the blue can be a Clio Mk1.
My first guess was a 5th gen prelude but when you zoomed in its an MY99 WRX as the B pillar is alot slimmer than the prelude
Here’s your list for the non said/question ones;
3:44 it’s a silver 22b just to be
5:53 the one in the green cover may just be a golf gti and behind maybe a charger
7:02 | left to right | black golf r maybe a ford van, mini, Peugeot, wrx wagon, maybe a Mercedes
Grey car beside the white Capri, I'd say an A4 cabriolet going by the silver/chrome A pillar.
Silver car is a GC8 impreza and the maroon car at the garage is a citroen xantia. Black car was a vw Bora. Pretty fascinating to see out the bounds of the top gear test track. Shame it wasn't brought into the later games. I'm sure NBA sports cars is the garage that helped work on the cars whilst at the test track. Look up the top gear lancia stratos replica video
3:46 Subaru Impreza WRX Type R
9:45 it is a vw jetta 2003, I think...
Can u make one video exploring Le Mans please?
Excellent video
The white car looks like the car the original stig drove off an aircraft carrier ship
The white car looks like a Ford of some kind
Come on bro, I get it for the Capri and such but that Impreza was an easy guess.. 😂 Nice video though, thanks.
the red car is a xantia, the silver car is a gc8 wrx, because of the wing size. the white car is a capri with a landau top, and the white jeep thing is a jimny, not a vitara the golf lookin thing looks more like a lupo, and the passat one also seems like a lupo. the black vw one is neither a golf or a polo, but a jetta
11:12 I think it is the place where jeremy richard and James came up with the idea to do something I cant remember what with a jensen interceptor
The white Suzuki isn't a Vitara, but a Samurai.
It’s not that or a Jimney because the rag top looks different on them. It has a spare wheel that’s a Vitara wheel too.
Almost certain it’s a 2-door Vitara.
@@ParallelSyntax Look at where the soft top ends in comparison to the front door window, it has to be either a 2nd gen Jimny or a Samurai.
IMS would be interesting next. That's my home track
I was there when the photo was taken the gray car is James' fiat panda
8:20 that looks like an old 90s-early 2000s Arctic Cat ATV
great videos
White car looks like an MG if it isn't a Capri as people have suggested.
4:57 looks a MK2 Fiat Punto 3 door.
5:17: Xantia.
6:06: Suzuki Samurai.
6:45: Suzuki Swift.
8:27: Could be a Lupo.
9:47: VW Bora/Jetta.
Surprised that much detail was used on sections of the map that players would never see.
2:45 The grey car looks very similar to a Mercedes ML270
2:51 think the white car is a capri, and the black car a mk3 fiesta?
3:44 gc8 impreza wrx
4:10 could be wrong but looks a lot like an fto
9:45 bora
2:51 The white car is a MK1 Ford Capri and the grey car looks like a MK3 Golf to me
white car is iconic morris marina
still my favorite GT in the series ❤️
its 01483 at the top gear track ,, here in Hull our code is 01482 hundreds of miles apart but almost the same area code
Poster car looks like a Murcielago
Grey car next to the white Capri is a mk5 Fiesta
the car at 4:10 is a Subaru Impreza 2.5RS coupe
2:52 I would be willing to assume that is a white Ford Capri while the black vehicle is some 90s Mercedes .
0:37 Cranleigh is *in* Surrey
The dark grey car is either a corsa or a micra
2:39 Ford Capri Mk2
2:50 Maybe a mk3 fiesta
That white coupe is a Ford Capri.
The white car is a Ford Capri Mk1 or Mk1.5
