What’s encouraging to me is how much humor is included in this trailer. I think people forget that Wicked the musical is largely a comedy especially in the first act. I was really nervous they’d have issues trying to take itself too seriously and balancing that tone but this seemed really on point.
Same! That was what messed up other movie musicals like Into The Woods. They took it way too seriously and took all the humour out of it
Part of the big challenge of making the stage show, was decided what to keep in, what to eliminate. The creative team butted heads a great deal. I think you can feel it, while watching the play, though I really love the musical. The medium of film, and the fact that they have 2 films and such a creative director leads me to believe this has the potential to take this story where it really wants to go. I really can’t wait for this.
I’m in Melbourne Australia and I actually saw the stage show last night (BRILLIANT!!!- it was my Mother’s Day present 🥰) so after watching the trailer I can’t wait !!!!!

my prediciton is that part 1 of the movie will cover the first half of the musical, up to defying gravity. and i also read somehwere that they implemented a lot more from the book its based on that didn't end up in the musical. so my guess is that part 2 will have new material. I'm also curious to see how much of the wizard of oz will be covered. I'm a big fan of the book and initially didn't care too much for the musical as its very different. but im very excited to see it as a fan of both cynthia and ariana

The marketing people seem to be doing that a lot, like Dune wasn’t labeled as a two parter and I think everyone is trying to replicate that success
lived in nyc my whole life and never seen wicked 😫 the trailer made me wanna go see it on broadway before the movie.
I cannot freaking wait!!! The movie looks gorgeous!! Wicked is my favorite Broadway musical, which I was lucky enough to see with the original cast!!! So you can imagine how excited I was for this, especially when Ari got cast as Glinda! I'm not a big fan of her pop style. I am a big fan of Ari because of her Broadway background and you can hear it, plus, Cynthia and Ari's harmony left me speechless!!! About the part 1 and part 2 situation, act 1 ends with Defying Gravity, so I'm gonna guess part 1 will end with that.
I feel like the two part was a smart move. Movie and live theater pacing are very different, with musicals being more fast pace while movies can take more time with each shot. This way they can tell the story the best way they can without cutting out any songs, plot, or character development. This movie can really focus on the growth of galinda and elphaba’s relationship and get that whiplash in the second one, allowing us to be invested enough.
I think it’s easy to realize how they are making it into parts because of the book & they cut so much from the book so bringing book stuff just makes the movie the opportunity to expand
I’m definitely a die-hard fan of “Wicked.” I’ve seen it several times, once in New York on Broadway. My master’s degree is in music education, and thinking about this practically, and as a professional musician, I imagine they’ll end part 1 where intermission usually takes place in the theatre, which is right after “Defying Gravity.” They didn’t show any scenes from Act 2 in this trailer. I’m super-bummed that they intend to split it up, but that would be the way to do it. Most of my worries are that they’ll add endless unneeded dialogue and extra plot points to the already perfect story just to stretch it out. “Wicked” is shorter than “Les Miserables,” which was made into a single movie, so I’m hoping they stick to the original source material (pulling from the book, for instance) instead of butchering it like “The Hobbit” or something.

Did you notice that this is the first Oz movie that doesn't have "Oz" in the title?
Part 1 is gonna end with Defying Gravity, just like Act 1 of the stage version.

The reason why it’s so long of a trailer is probably because this is both parts combined
I'm convinced they're going to break the film in half after Defying Gravity...that's the logical place to split the story. Warners did the Part 1 thing with IT & Dune.
What are some other musicals that you like? I love wicked but I’m not too familiar with tons of other shows, would love to hear what a fellow bro likes

I must disagree that there were shots that came from the 2nd act. Everything in this trailer was from the 1st act (unlike the first trailer).
Glinda in the bubble doesn’t happen till the second act…

In Season 4, it's mentioned that The Upside Down is frozen on the day Will disappeared. So, why in the Season 2 Snowball Finale, when the camera shows the Upside Down school, are there blue lights for the Snowball Dance? It's confusing because time shouldn't have progressed there.

Trailer was way too long but regardless I'm pumped. I adore the broadway musical and this looks faithful. Plus it's from the same director as one of my favorite musical movies In The Heights. It's a shame that movie was pushed under the radar.

Way back in the day, I saw Idina play Elphaba. Nothing can top that ‘Defying Gravity.’ And we saw the whole story in one sitting.
I honestly don't understand the Hype about Wicked as it is just Meh in my opinion. So, I am just here to give the Legend an extra support 😎🔥🔥🔥

Nothing cheap about it. Like it or not, it's talented artists trying their best to bring their passion on the screen. What pleasure does it give you to crap on what others love. You give your pronouncement with no back up .... like anyone should care.
