If you haven’t seen much of Cynthia before you’re in for an absolute treat: there’s always a lot of thought behind her performances and her singing and acting is delivered with a lot of subtlety. I’m beyond excited to see her in this film.
She was my dream casting choice and I was over the moon when she got it. She is truly one of the most powerful voices of our time, we need the spotlight on her.
I am so glad that this movie is going to be a Two-Part film and is directed by the talented Jon M. Chu who had never disappointed us with his phenomenal films like Crazy Rich Asians and the musical In the Heights... I have a coworker/castmate that I previously worked with as a performer at Walt Disney World who is currently in the Broadway production of Wicked playing as the popular Fiyero for 3 years now. It's not really showing a lot if you already know the story and seeing the production just like the previous music production turn into film like Mean Girls and The Color Purple 😂 haha!
The trailer is very good, but here’s the thing with very popular pieces of media (in my opinion.) Wicked is an incredibly popular play that’s been around for decades. People have either seen it or heard of it, so it’s not like the plot is a secret. Like (and this is a horrible comparison) the trailers for the Disney remakes, unless they are recreating the image of a character. Most everyone has already seen the animated movies and they’ve been around for freaking years. The plot is not a secret if everyone has seen it or knows it, so it’s fine to just “give everything away” in the trailer. It’s not a secret or a surprise. But that’s just what I think.
Actors never sang songs from this trailer so nah nothing much was shown from this. This musical is not Barbie movie level so they have to show this much footage from this trailer. Enjoyed your reaction here :)

Wicked I think is the Wizard of Oz if it was written by the Brothers Grimm at least the novelizations are lol
