Mumbai's 'Dabbawallahs' or food delivery people have been delivering food to offices since about 1900 or even earlier. They are renowned for their accuracy. Based on what I've heard about them, the wrong delivery depicted in this movie is actually a one-in-a-million happening.
I was pleasantly surprised when I watched the late Irrfan Khan and Nawazudding Siddiqui in the same movie... sad that they couldn't do more movies together. The actress Nimrat Kaur was very natural and did well.
It was not Wrong delivery in this, the office peon mismatched the two tiffins

Yep. They deliver almost 200,000 tiffin boxes everyday in Mumbai city. Some from people’s own homes, some from hotels, etc, but an established, everyday routine. Not like your Zomatos and Swiggys, where you order every time.
Like a newspaper route. The delivery guys know which paper to deliver to each house. A very elaborate and complex system, yet perfectly executed. Almost.
That one mistake forms the premise of this story. It really is masterful. For film students, especially. From ideation and storytelling to direction and acting, everything is perfect.

I've seen them randomly sooo many times on streets. They really work hard with full dedication.

Hugh Jackman as Captain Jack Sparrow!
It is unimaginable but all of the above were the original considerations & the roles went to other actors (due to various reasons) who made them memorable!
Both irfan and nawazuddin are equally brilliant actors. It’s very unfortunate that there won’t be any irfan khan movies. In Bollywood there are very few actors like him. True jem of Bollywood

Haha I loved how Syntell noticed the old school pressure cookers. These are actually what's normal in India. Very few families (even in urban areas) use automated cookers.
I’m actually waiting on Syntell’s philosophy lessons. My man is the Aristotle of UA-cam. Love his insights, truths and revelations. His thoughts & insights are so deep, profound & deeply arresting. Some of the things he notices are just amazing. Big thanks to the Koay family for having Steph & Syntell do these reactions. They compliment each other so well & both are so genuine & get along with each other.
We are still using that pressure cooker. I don't think there is any replacement of that Cooker in India.
That's because the new cookers can't cook some of the complex Indian cuisines with perfection
Because our dishes require such cookers
Same with a lot of Indian families in the West. I was born and raised in the U.S. to South Indian parents, and my family still uses old school pressure cookers. I did buy an Instant Pot a few years ago, but I don’t use it much other than to make rice/quinoa.

Mumbai's Dabbawallah/ food delivery is a local organization which achieved high service performance with low cost and simple operations. Harvard did a study on them!

There is whole documentary on lunch box service in Mumbai.. it's very unique. I am not sure it's on UA-cam or not
Dabbawala (Tiffinbox carriers) are the organization that achieved six sigma certificate (less than 3.4 flaw in 1 million boxes delivered) which is Quality certification and achieved by very less number of organizations around the world. This case study is very famous across all engineering and MBA colleges in India. This organization was started so people working in offices can have warm home cooked food but now the count has reduced because Microwave ovens and further reduced due to covid people started working from home
Acting, direction and story line of this movie is unparalleled. Irfan Khan and Nimrat Kaur have made themselves immortals with this master piece.
This movie holds a cozy corner in my heart. So realistic and perfect in depicting all the imperfections of life !
And the man, Irrfan, can make you cry even with his "sigh of relief" or just doing nothing. He was special, he'll always be.

Today i kinda fell in love with steph. It's been so long, i have been looking for a friend who is as mad about cinema and storytelling as myself but unfortunately never found one. Over the last 6-7 years i have watched so many movies and so many shows. Literally almost everythings that's worth watching. But now i have gotten bored of watching such good cinema alone. I have many friends but not a single freind with whom i can sit and chat about the brilliance of cinema and storytelling in general. Today for the first time i saw Steph so engaged and excited about this movie that my heart instantly said, This! This is what you want man! The way she suddenly realised how those writers turned such a normal thing into an exciting story, main to pighal gaya bikul. I have so many movies and shows in my list that i am saving to watch with this kind of person, because now i can't enjoy watching movies alone. It's boring. I hope i find a girl with this specific quality.
I understand your feeling. Watching a good movie is one thing but having someone to discuss it's nuances, smallest details and talk about it in length is pure bliss. My brother plays that part in my life (to some extent). All I need to do is to force him to watch the movie (or read the book) I liked.
Guess he's lucky to have a sister with amazing taste.

Mumbai Dabbawalas are one of a kind. One of the best management system in the world. They have been studied by the top business schools like Harvard and Wharton. They were recently invited for King Charles coronation ceremony and were also invited for the royal wedding. They are known for their accuracy. They deliver home cooked food for lunch and deliver back the lunchbox at home for a monthly fee. The middle class people of Mumbai travel a lot to reach their office (few hours everyday) so most people leave very early in the morning to reach office on time, but it is difficult to cook lunch so early in the morning so the Dabbawala services are used by many households.

They were invited to Oxford to give a talk about their numbering system. They use Six Sigma without even knowing it. They have 99.9 percent accuracy. And they deliver thousands of lunches across Mumbai. Home to Desk! Read about them. This movie pays a tribute to them and shows what happens when one dabba gets sent wrongly.
