  • In this video I make an Intarsia Seahorse. This was a tough one. Didn't quite get the look I had envisioned but it was close enough to become part of my wall aquarium. Lots more to make still.

Yeah for sure. Probably not best using the Hard Maple though and maybe not as thick...was a real pain to sand 😂

Thanks Johnathon. I think on the next carving I'm gonna try using a softer wood and see how I get on.

That took some patience. Maybe you could introduce some sand banks or layers at the bottom with different coloured veneers over each other? Just an idea. I like that you've got something that will evolve.

Yeah I’m really stuck on the bottom at the moment. Some tanks have gravel and I thought about using lots of little balls of different coloured Milliput but that could take a long time. I’ve got some samples of Osmo colours so I can create a green look but again, I’m a bit stuck on how to do the greenery 😂

It’s certainly one way to hide a few stray screw holes 😂 It’s looking better each month...just looking to add a bit of greenery now.

Yeah that’s something I need to do next really. I’m just a bit stuck on how to do it. Hopefully a bit of greenery will make it look more like an aquarium 😊

Nice one Lee great project and love the instructional video as well. Out of interest why didn’t you use CA glue instead of hot glue?

    • @Smugwood

CA would have been a lot better. Problem is, its something else im allergic too, and quite bad actually. Last time i used it it took a week for my nose to be able to breathe. I did by myself a proper mask...but lost it :) I think in the future i will by myself another mask and take my time gluing them with the CA. The hot glue worked ok, but its hard to spread thin and it sets too quickly sometimes.
