You explained it so well, it's my first time trying brioche knitting and it didn't look right. Your video really helped me understand when to purl and when to knit 🫶🏼
WOW! I just found your site. I love your video on "Basics of Two-Color Brioche". I am currently teaching a Brioche class and have shared your site with my students.
Seriously the BEST tutorial for me- because she holds her hands like I do! It's SOOOOO confusing to watch tutorials of people that hold theirs differently! Not that there's a right or wrong way- just a way that I get versus don't get!!
3 days of watching brioche videos and this is an excellent Continental brioche video! Thank you! 🥰🌟 oh, and I purl the same way and it’s soooo easy! Watching English throwing brioche makes me feel dyslexic or I like I am left handed trying to do whatever right handed.
I continentally knit and some of brioche videos were confusing. I can not honestly say if it is because I knit 'wrong' normally or if it is a continental vs English variation that is confusing me. I knit with twisted stitches to put extra spronginess into the fabric when knitting with cheaper yarn, perhaps I am using twisted stitches in a ways that will not work with brioche, but I have not yet mastered brioche.
I was so excited about how awesome this video is that I posted a comment before finishing watching but I just go to the increase, as well as left and right-leaning decreases and now I wish I could send you flowers for saving my knitting LIFE! :)
I purl exactly the same way... never could get the hang of dipping my forefinger down without losing the yarn, and this works just fine! :) Thanks for a fantastic tutorial... I get it now!
Thanks so much for the great video. It is so very clear, both visually and the instructions. It's been very helpful in progressing in brioche knitting!
I was just looking at your Melted Shrug in Ravelry, went to UA-cam to find a tutorial on two color brioche to see if I had the patience do it. I clicked on your video not knowing it was related to the Melted Shrug. I think this was meant to be! 🤗
loletten This is how I purl! The first year n half I knitted all my purls were twisted because I didn’t know it but was doing a Russian purl. THIS is soooo easy! When I see people on Facebook say they don’t like Continental because they don’t like to purl, I always share the UA-cam video of a purl like this I learned just like this! How I wish that comment could be edited out! Love this!
I have been looking and looking for a quality tutorial continental Brioche knitting! Thank you so much!!!!! Now the sosu shrug just might be in my near future!!!!!
I LOOOOOOVE YOUUUUUUUU! Thank you so much for this !!!!!!!!! I can't wait to move now, so I can unpack my needles and yarn and make some friggin hats!!! :)
Thank you for this very well thought out tutorial. Your voice is pleasant and clear. All the items you’ve selected work together very well to make it easy to see against your background. I also briefly checked out your Ravelry pages and was pleasantly surprised by beautiful designs. I’m now subscribing to your channel.
Fantastic video. Thank you. I think you are helping me get past an increase / decrease round 2 (dark color row) of a pattern I had to put in "time out". You explain it perfectly.
Loving the pattern and leaning about the Inc and Dec to make patterns in brioche.. BUT… I’d like to see the DS of the 4 st dec .. I’ve done it twice and I’m not sure it looks right as the YO, K, YO (with all the PO sts done) form a light colour V on the DS.. not a dark colour … is it meant to be that way? I’ve looked threw the pattern and vids and you don’t show the DS after that decrease and before doing the 4 increases.. I’d love to see yours at that stage ? 🙂
Thank you for your video. I am new at knitting brioche. I have trouble with the stitch marker moving out of position. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you
radle12000 These are Knit Picks (or Knit Pro, depending on where you're from) Symphony wooden needles. I really like them, although I've recently switched to LYKKE driftwood interchangeables.
Are those really size 8 (US) knitting needles? They look so slender - what needles are those with the wonderful long point, and where did you get them? I have a hard time finding needles that are pointed enough for lace and fine work. Thank you!
I want to buy wool for this so hope you can answer my question soon? If normally I would use 10 balls for a blanket do I need double the amount of wool for this pattern? Or do the many slip stitches make me need 2 x 5 balls? (2 colors) please answer soon? want to start making baby blanket.
Irene Dirks Well that depends on what pattern you normally use. Brioche eats up a lot more yarn that stockinette, because it's such a lofty fabric. How much more is difficult to tell, because it's also very stretchy. I'd guesstimate about 1.5-2 times more. There's a brioche baby blanket pattern on Ravelry that takes 1220 yards of worsted weight yarn (about half of this or A and B each) for a 28"x28" blanket. Hope this helps.
It's very complicated this project, it isn't explaining from the beginning to end. It is beautiful and I wanted to make it but I couldn't understand it. It isn't clear.
It's SO HARD to find good tutorials explaining 2-colour Brioche for continental knitters. Thank you so much!
Chani Klapka Yes! Just thought the same thing!

Your increase and decrease explanation is the best I've found yet. Thank you!

I had hoped she would do the tut the way I knit - throwing with right hand. Oh well, just glad to have found her video.
That’s how I purl. I haven’t seen anyone else do it that way. Great instruction, thank you.

Thanks for the easy to follow and clear tutorial! What needles are you using? They look like they have a nice long taper and sharp point.

Hmm, is there another tutorial to get us to this point? You are starting in the middle, aren't you?
"basics"...how about starting with a cast-on. I can't follow your pattern if I have no clue how to get there.
what nationality are you?
I'm Austrian. It might show in my knitting... ;)
Figen Figen German knit the same way!
Красивый сложный узор. 💖
Зачем слова? Просто покажите. А если не можете показать без слов - тогда это просто болтовня, а не мастер-класс!!!

I enjoy your knowledge but you are way too far away from the microphone. Very, very hard to hear you.
It's very complicated this project, it isn't explaining from the beginning to end. It is beautiful and I wanted to make it but I couldn't understand it. It isn't clear.
I wanted to start with cord cast-on and bind off with cord too, this explanation doesn't exist.
