I got my bike yesterday!! I'm in love!! The stock exhaust sounds pretty amazing, i didnt expect it to sound that good.I cant imagine what this one sounds like.
Nice! Yeah the first time I started it up after the upgrade, I thought "oh you've got to be kidding me... where have you been all my life?" It sounded so good I couldn't stop grinning.
I have been doing a lot of research about this slipon and the SC Project CR T slipon. For the price, I don't think your exhaust can't be beat. Nice sound recording too.
I'm pretty sure I account for atleast 100 views for this video. With my computer speakers turned up :) Have you done any new mods to your Monster recently?
Thanks for the video, could you comment on how things are going with this setup please? Any issues after these few months with using this exhaust without ECU flashing? I just ordered it from Motowheels, can't wait, but would love to hear something on a longer term experience. Thanks in advance!
Hi Nathan, The bike sound's great with those werkes 👍🏾 Got a question for you. The competition werkes site says it only fits monster 1200 and the cyclegear says it does not fit monster 821. So, did you has to do any alterations to make it fit in monster 821?
Thanks. I absolutely love it. Competition Werkes did a great job with this exhaust, especially considering its a fraction of the price of Termignonis or Akrapovics.
MAD MIKE Thanks! I'm working on mounting an external mic under the seat to really capture what it sounds like. I'm sorting out some clipping issues now but I'll hopefully have it uploaded soon.
I just traded my 696 for a 2017 821. Exhaust is usually one of the first things I want to change, but I am not sure I want to do that on the 821 for two reasons; one, i think it looks great, and two, it sounds pretty damn good.
Hi Nathan! Is this exhaust street legal; I own a 821 and werkes is something i have in mind. Did you do any search before byuing; Thanks for videos. Stamatis from Greece.
Question, did you experience any issues with mounting the bracket? I have a 21 821 and the bracket, no matter what I do isn’t lining up. I have to exert force (pushing backend of exhaust towards the front of the bike) just to get the bracket to line up with the stock bolt. This in return is causing an exhaust leak at the two joints of the exhaust header. They are small, yet annoying. Talked with comp werkes, just waiting on a sujestion.
So its been awhile and not sure if tour still responding but did it keep making all the cool crackles and pops the stock exhaust does? I dont want to sacrifice those just to be louder. Thanks
I’ve had this exhaust on my 821 for a couple years now and it definitely pops and crackles like the stock exhaust, just louder. Great deceleration pops if that’s what you’re in to.
I have two questions: 1) Does it void the warranty if put in exhausts other than Termignoni? 2) What is the difference in sound compared to these two? Thanks!
Retzilla Bojek Thanks! You can find it on MotoWheels.com. I got my exhaust in about a week. According to Google they might be having an issue with Malware, so be careful. motowheels.com/i-20943425-competition-werkes-slip-on-exhaust-monster-1200-821.html
Wow! That sounds great, I can only imagine how much better it sounds in person. Did you have to get the ECU reflashed after you installed this? I'm probably going to get this exhaust if it doesn't need that.
Ugly Duckling From Space I didn't reflash it. I've noticed it's definitely a bit leaner than with the stock pipe and it'll pop under deceleration, but there hasn't been any performance issues or knocking so I'm not worried about it. I actually think a little popping makes it sound much meaner, so I like it even if it is technically peak performance. I talked to the local Ducati tech about it and he said it shouldn't be an issue at all. If I get a higher flow air filter, he recommends reflashing. But it's fine how it is.
Nathan Jones Ok cool, really glad it doesn't need a reflash. I'm probably going to go ahead and buy one of these in titanium next month. And thanks for answering my question so quickly!
Ugly Duckling From Space No problem. But be aware that the titanium version is just a paint color, it'll still be made from stainless steel. The most popular versions I've seen are the stainless, the carbon fiber, or the black velvet if you want to go for a blacked out look. It's all up to your personal preference though and it's a great exhaust, you'll love it.
+Helmuth R Alpizar It's a little over $100/month, but that includes total loss protection and accessory and property protections. So if someone decides to hit me and take off, insurances buys me a brand new bike (not just current market value on my bike), pays for the mods I had on my bike, and pays for the laptop in my backpack and the camera on my helmet.
***** Generally speaking, yes all exhausts for the 1200 should work fine on the 821. The only issue would be if they come with an custom ECU map, that would need to be specific to the proper engine. I talked through it with my local Ducati dealer and I didn't flash my ECU. It runs slightly lean, but not enough to cause performance issues. Once I remove my charcoal canister and get a new high flow air filter, I will probably flash it.
+01parrott I haven't had it remapped but I had the local dealer take a look at it while I was getting my bike serviced and they said it should run fine. Performance would improve with a high flow filter and an a remapped ecu but it's not an issue currently.
I got a question. I'm trying to install the exhaust but the one black bolt by the rear brake that needs to be removed is impossible to get loose. How did you go about loosing it?
+outofretirement That one was a pain in the ass. I used a folding hex key set from Craftsman, but if I were to do it again, I would probably use a hex head socket with about a 2-3in extension and a socket wrench with a breaker bar over it. I don't have links to any of those parts off hand, but if you need help finding them, I would be happy to see what I can find.
Hi, I am planning to get this exhaust and could you tell me if I just need to put it on and no need to do any tune for the bike? Besides, do you think need to buy the DB killer and if without it, the sound gonna make ears feel unconfortable? thanks so much
+Kaikit Choi My local shop said it should be fine and it hasn't given me trouble. You'll definitely get better performance if you tune it. My plan is to remove the charcoal canister and add a high flow air filter at some point in the future and tune it then, so I only have to do it once. Personally, I don't use the db killer, but I have friends that have said they would get it if they had this exhaust every day. It's definitely loud, but I don't find it uncomfortable. What's nice is that you don't have to remove anything to install the db killer. Just unscrew a couple bolts and slip it in.
+Nathan Jones thx your reply so much. Mine is gonna arrive this weekend. I will see how is going after I put it on. I have contacted my local Ducati dealer in CA and I am so curious that they told me I can't purchase the program so far coz its illegal in here. So I think if there is no much obvious difference feeling from stock then I would leave it alone. I am looking forward how it sound;)))
***** Yeah I did it and it's pretty straight forward. There was one bolt that was a bit tricky to reach, so a long set of allen wrenches would've been nice. I would say it's around a half hour if you're mechanically inclined and don't run into issues. Around an hour if you're taking your time or if you get stuck on something.
It did, but it's just one mounting bracket and the exhaust itself so it's fairly straightforward. Mostly it's convincing parts to fit just right. Would it help if I uploaded an install video for it?
Alright. Before the end of the weekend, I'll do my best to upload that and another video I had planned going over the install for my tail light and tail tidy.
I haven't been on it for more than an hour or so, but I've never found it uncomfortable. It's much wider and more padded than the seats on previous Monsters generations.
Hi nathan im planning to out this exhaust on my 821 18 do we have to remap it or put rapid bike evo or servo eliminator ..or its still fine even if i run jt without remapping...
Alex Simmonds where did you hear it doesn't fit? Comp Werkes doesn't officially say that it fits the 821, but from what I've heard that's just because they haven't test fit it on a bike yet. I've been running mine for years without issue.
I spoke to competition werks. I'm in the UK - so its a risk if it doesnt fit - although I highly doubt there is any change between the 2015 monster to my 2016 monster that means it wont fit.

I got my bike yesterday!! I'm in love!! The stock exhaust sounds pretty amazing, i didnt expect it to sound that good.I cant imagine what this one sounds like.
***** Awesome! Yeah the stock exhaust was surprisingly good. I didn't expect it to sound that good from the dealer.
got mine on today and can only confirm how well it sounds ;)
This is definitely the best all around sounding exhaust for the Monster. Deep and throaty.
+Jay.Hamilton Yep, I love it.
I'm pretty sure I account for atleast 100 views for this video. With my computer speakers turned up :)

Even with crappy audio quality it sounds amazing :P
Thanks. I absolutely love it.

Epic sound, i can image that noise when cruising low rpm
MAD MIKE Thanks!

You turned the key and Super Mario screamed for help.
mike piersanti Ha yeah that's the computer checking that the exhaust valve works. It grows on you, but it definitely sounds funny.
mike piersanti aaaaaand now that's what I hear every time I start it up...
Nathan Jones Brilliant! I'm glad I could make your ride that much more fun. LOL

holy crap man.. that sounds intense. Where did you get the exhaust system man?
Retzilla Bojek Thanks!
You can find it on MotoWheels.com. I got my exhaust in about a week. According to Google they might be having an issue with Malware, so be careful.

How tall are you and what’s your weight if you don’t mind me asking? Curious how you feel size wise on the bike.
Beautiful ride 🍺 stay safe
I am 6'3", 300 lbs and I am comfortable on my Monster 821. I just finished a 3480 KM trip with no issues, rode about 380 KM per day.
Sounds sick man; How much rough fully you pay on insurance on this bike?
+Helmuth R Alpizar It's a little over $100/month, but that includes total loss protection and accessory and property protections.
So if someone decides to hit me and take off, insurances buys me a brand new bike (not just current market value on my bike), pays for the mods I had on my bike, and pays for the laptop in my backpack and the camera on my helmet.
+Nathan Jones I thought so, my insurance quote me about the same. Same full coverage.
Thanks man. Be safe
Santa got here earlier this year, I'm heading to Ducati dealer later today to pick up my Monster.. Yes!!
+Mr, Alpizar#74 I just bought this bike, I'll have in in two months and the insurance company got me 42$/month full insurance
Nice, Why do you have to wait for two months?
$42 a month?? Thats a great deal, but make sure is a FULL Coverage.
2 questions, do all the 1200 exhaust fit the 821? and did you flash the ECU or do you find that it doesn't need it?

Hello, any updates on this exhaust? Has the stock tune had any negative issues?
so sick
NJBIKELIFE Thanks! Mean and throaty is definitely the way to go.
One of the cheaper exhausts yet the best sounding imo. Just put one on my 821. Straight ear porn!
I bought it recently on ebay, and will have it with in 2 weeks. So how does it sound compare to this video?
Goratchthemule Sounds just like this vid. I ended up leaving the baffle out. You should wear earplugs though or your ears will be numb after riding.
I always have earplugs any way, because of the wind noise through my helmet.
how did you get this to fit? apparently the website doesn't have anything for scramblers or 821s. Is it because they haven't bothered to updated it?
Yeah their site hasn't been updated. I got it from MotoWheels. There's a link at the end of the video description.
wow good sound
+Nhat Nguyen Duy Thanks! I like it.
+Nathan Jones i love monster 821 and i like it
Have you done any dyno runs to check AFR's? I love this exhaust but worry it will run too lean without a re-map.
+01parrott I haven't had it remapped but I had the local dealer take a look at it while I was getting my bike serviced and they said it should run fine. Performance would improve with a high flow filter and an a remapped ecu but it's not an issue currently.
More exhaust clip vids! How much did you pay for that?
I got a question. I'm trying to install the exhaust but the one black bolt by the rear brake that needs to be removed is impossible to get loose. How did you go about loosing it?

Still fine without a remap, but i've read a lot of ppl saying that it does smooth out the throttle with a remap.
NIce bro.
Is it a secure website for buying?
