man does this bring back memories ,. my dad had a 76 malibu classic just like this .. and i sure do remember my leg getting crushed by that huge door while i was gettinginto the back seat ,, this car would throw you back in the seat like a damn roller coaster .. sure do miss them days .. thanks for sharing your sweet 76 with all of us
Beautiful car! and driver too! It's a much more fun hobby when you both can enjoy it.My wife has a 71 Monte SS454 and I have a 68 Chevelle SS396,we've had both over 30yrs.
My first car was my uncles silver 1977 Malibu, a 2 door, 350 engine 2 barrel with barely any extras other than a cassette player. And it had hubcaps instead of those much nicer looking wheels. Got it in the summer of 1984. And a VERY bad paint job! GM cars back then did a horrible job if you bought a car with metallic paint. They turned into sandpaper and rust a few years later. I got a new paint job with red pinstripes and it looked a lot better! BUT, even worse problems. Like many GM dashboards, it was all cracked from the Texas heat. The vinyl upholstery in the drivers seat was torn. The air conditioning didn’t work. And I didn’t get any praise for my car! Kids that thought they knew all about muscle cars didn’t even know I was driving one that had potential! But I enjoyed it. I liked the vertical dashboard of the speedometer and the rectangular blinkers that had a loud bling bong sound to them. And a sticky steering wheel I had to put one of those covers on. Now I’m stuck with a 2007 Prius and 2015 Camaro. They’ll never have the magic this car did!
i have a 76 chevelle, 62 thousand original miles garage kept 2% rust on the whole car. i will post a video and show you:) doing the water pump right now, so easy lol. im 26 and loving it.
The 305.cc.engine was a so-so one with 115hp.I put a 1966 327.cc.small Jurnal, crank oversized berings ,11:1 flat top pistons,202,160cc.heads bolt in studs ported and polished etc, etc. so on so on. As for the grills,I liked the 1977 honeycomb as the 1976 grill was straight bars like.I had a 75 laguna t3.front end that would of went on but I didn't do it.The grills of 76 &77 was the only difference that changed.I used the 10 bolt posi. out of the Laguna for my 76 Chevy Malibu .
the hood is from US Body Source. I think the VFN fiberglass also makes them. Do a search for fiberglass hoods and Im sure some manufactures will come up. The big problem is finding ones that deal with the 73-77 cars. Good luck
The Original Parts Group. As far as the grill. This one is off of a 76 El Camino SS. Its the same one on a 76 Malibu Classic, but its painted black instead of the argent silver. The black gives it a much better look in my opinion.
nice car, I had a 76 milibu but with the inline 250 long block 6 cylinder it was rusted, and was running fine 149000miles I was still in high school 1991 at the time so I couldn't do much with it, it was brown with a bench seat but dam would love to have that car now cause there is so much I could do now with it . that was my first car, did you do all the work yourself? It sounds healthy, nice paint too.
@600turbine I got my car in high school too. Its actually my first car. Got it when it was 9 years old and the rust was already significant. Did some of the work myself, but had some assistance with the motor. The bodywork and paint was done elsewhere. Has 3" stainless steel exhaust all the way out the tailpipes.
@ShadowGhost777 hey! good luck with your first car, you know you wiil never forget it as I never for got my first malibu and its been 19 years. its a great fixer upper to. That malibu your getting may have a 350 in it, if you like power as seen on the video, I really didn't have any money in 91 to do so but your getting a killer classic. I love old cars and some new ones and also like motor cycles. But yea man your gonna like it.
The front and rear bumpers are original....Ive had them re-chromed though. As far as the dash, they are notorious for cracking on the top right across the center speaker vent. A nice original dash with no cracks is VERY hard to find...and VERY hard and tedious to put back in. You can check ebay and craigslist for them though. There are many companies that carry a dash pad for our cars though. They are just a plastic cap that fits over the original one. Just places like The Parts Place and
I certainly like this a lot better than the 73 chevelle model, but it actually never donned on me that chevelle went past the year 72, this is all new to me, it just doesnt fit the chevelle look yuh know? I still like it though..
@yamaharacergirl58 Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. They are stock size rims. Backs are 15 X 7. I wish they were 15 X 10. That may be my next change. Fronts are probably 15 X 6 or 7. Don't recall...been a while since i put them on.
no..its not a real SS. I figured if GM wanted to make one, this is kinda how they may have made it. The grill is from al El Camino...which GM DID make SS versions of in 73-77. I think the last SS year for the Malibu was 74. Thanks!
I would love to put a fuel injected engine from an ls7 vette or an erod engine.Yes, I indeed know parts are hard to find for this vehicle, but some monte carlo,el camino, laguna and some other gm parts are swappable.
@600turbine this almost sounds like my story im trying to get my license and my uncle just found a 1976 malibu it needs some work but i have done some research and it sounds like a bad ass car cant wait for it to be my first
@krzone81 ya built same car when first got in bodyshop trade here we are 25 years later one thing i learned black is tough keep i was always polishing it they are sweet cars thing was mile long chrome cost me a mint

You can still find them out there to buy, but prices are climbing.

Efectivamente hermoso eso es un verdadero chevrolet
Had a 77...minus the whitet stripes....love this body style
I had a 1976 Malibu classic 4-door, and now a 2004 Malibu 4-door.
Geoffr524 a sad transfer
Nice Chevelle! Never seen a clean year like this after 72. Sweet ride
thanks!

Can't believe i haven't seen this in a magazine.
Just hearing it makes my heart pump faster it's so sweet
The stupid flex fan is long gone, so it sounds a little better now. Thanks!
the 73's to 77's are slowly making a come back
such a beautiful car, might paint mine the same color
The car looks and sounds great ! The rear small windows would look good with the louvers .
Thanks Leroy. I got a pair of louvers last year. They're going on this year. :)

Great car man
Beautiful I have a 76 Laguna.. my dad bought new.. I wish mine was in the shape yours is..

That is one SWEET looking car!

Thanks!
Looks great. I have a 76 Laguna s3
awesome... I love the Lagunas!
my dad had one in 1987 and i loved that thing it was awsome, and the turning bucket seat was neet
The buckets are a fun feature!
I'm sure you get this a lot but if you're ever looking to sell it
Exactly what I want to do with mine. Sounds healthy too.... I like the SS idea as well.
I have an all black 76 malibu with the stock 305 in it,and corvette rally wheels.
Sweet car
These are the original seats...they've been recovered, but are original.

nice your chevelle sound mean and is looking great
she a beauty think of sell her one day, sold mine about 8 years ago and should have kept her
god, that is a hot car!
what parts are you looking for? They are hard to find as very few are reproduced for the 73-77 cars.
Love ur ride
buddy where did you get your hood? is it cowl induction? ive been trying to find a cowl hood for my 77' And i cant find one anywhere-_-
@MGORevolt these dashs are really tough to find without cracks on top...especially around the speaker hole!
My Chevelle malibu ss was a 1973 with the 307 Turbo Fire in it
Beautiful!
What's the differens between the 76 malibu classic and this chivelle?
The front and rear bumpers are original....Ive had them re-chromed though. As far as the dash, they are notorious for cracking on the top right across the center speaker vent. Thanks for the compliment. Its not for sale as of now.
NICE!!!!!!
what was the original color? all muscle cars look awsome in black.
I certainly like this a lot better than the 73 chevelle model, but it actually never donned on me that chevelle went past the year 72, this is all new to me, it just doesnt fit the chevelle look yuh know?
I still like it though..
I want it, it can be a sister car for my 75.
what was the original color?

I just bought a 1974 Chevelle with a 350. How do I make it faster? And I want to put big rally wheels on it.
where did u get the seats for this ?
looks and sounds great . I have an original 1977 Malibu 2dr 91.000 on it . with a 305. will never part with it.
Thanks! Tough to find parts for our cars, but keep at it! The colonnades are coming around slowly but surely.
Yes it is.
Dave Lavalla , Keep up the good work man
Thanks. :)
Someone help me. I could have sworn they went from 2 round head lights in ‘76 to 4 square in ‘77.

oh yeah baby oh yeah....
Great car. Let me know when she's for sale.
As soon as I can find a Plymouth Superbird! So probably never! :)
jkolodz521
Take good care of her. She is a classic. I'd post a pic of mine but not sure on how to do that.
Best bet is on Craigslist or Ebay. Good luck
Hey all...the comments are appreciated!
@600turbine this almost sounds like my story im trying to get my license and my uncle just found a 1976 malibu it needs some work but i have done some research and it sounds like a bad ass car cant wait for it to be my first
yeah i know. its a grill off an ss el camino. i thought it looked good on the car. my mission isnt a factory original car of course.
@krzone81 ya built same car when first got in bodyshop trade here we are 25 years later one thing i learned black is tough keep i was always polishing it they are sweet cars thing was mile long chrome cost me a mint
@krzone81 The doors are certainly heavy!
can you tell me the tire size please
Beauty!!
Gr8ceful Gr8ceful thank you. I need to update video. It's lowered has 18s now, and got rid of the lousy flex fan
@youandrew66
love to see some pics of it!
you should all post some pics of your cars.
@600turbine thanks for that now i really cant wait
this car is a 76 Malibu Classic
Paint the louvers white and then it would be completed !
i am very jelous. mine is almost there but all black
@MiSTAh1NAKA probably not worth as much as I have into it. The 73-77 cars just arent as popular as you may know!
Ss in 76?
Its just a grill of an SS El Camino from 76. I thought its kind of what GM might have done if they could've.
i wish i had a cam i would make a video of mines cell phone is shitt Q tho
no...its not the original color. The only thing original on this car is the trunk lid and roof!
WHY THE HELL DID I EVER SELL MINE IS BEYOND ME
