The terrible cgi gives it so much character and makes it 10x funnier! And no one else could have voiced a better Preminger than the legend himself 💅💕
Honestly these movies are nostalgic that I don’t even register it as “terrible CGI” at this point. When I rewatch these movies I’m back in my childhood mind when CGI was... well you know💀
It's not terrible CGI. Terrible is too harsh of a term, especially for the time it came out. It's alright for TV quality back then.

I hate how everyone boils down Annelise's struggle to 'she just wants to read all day and is being dramatic' like no, every minute of her day is planned out for her, and she has literally no control over any aspect of her life. It's a much more glamorous oppression than Erica's oppression, and I'm sure we'd all choose to be in Annelise's situation over Erica's, but that doesn't mean she's not suffering.
When I was in high school, I was salutatorian, captain of the swim team, drum major of the marching band, teen leader of the 4H club, a Gold Award Girl Scout, and I was su*c*dal. I had no control over my life and I saw no way out and I literally got to the point where I wrote a note before I told my mom I needed help. Having privilege doesn't mean you aren't struggling. You can drown in a gilded marble tub just as well as in a puddle.
to piggyback off of this cause it is my biggest complaint with people talking about the movie, it also shows erika's character that she can look past the superficial details of their situations and recognize that they both feel trapped in their lives, and want the freedom to follow their passions

I've always loved how Erika sees Annalise's problem as an equal, not seeing it as something shallow, but instead seeing it in a different view. She didn't make it a competition, like she had a worst predicament or something (but in practicality, Erika had it worst of course). Love females supporting females.
Is anyone going to talk about the music? Like they really said eat and leave NO crumbs , also Annalise and Erika’s harmony was phenomenal

something i find really funny is the iconic Preminger scream is actually reused a lot. if you play them side by side you can tell its the exact same. the scream tickles me so much. Martin Short is incredible.
Preminger just slays so hard with his voice, and he is so dramatic which makes the film so iconic😂😂😂. He is giving GenZ energy and I love it!!!
I'm convinced at that point in the song Erika was buttering up the Annalise and making her feel like they were the same so she'd have a friend in a high place, she's like "oh yeah totally girl your struggles are valid" she was playing the long game
I really want to point out something that most people reacting don’t seem to understand. First off the pauper says they are the sane 1st and second the similarities they are talking about have nothing to do with their economic status. Neither one has any say in what happens to them. They each have some big responsibilities. The princess has to run and kingdom and get married to a stranger to help her people and the pauper is an indentured servant because of her parents debt. They are both forced into doing things they don’t want and have no control over their lives. That’s what they are binding over not their economic status. I loved the Barbie movie bloopers. They were so good. They made it so obvious she was an actress in all these movies but child me still didn’t understand until I found an article about it as an adult. I also love that we see Barbie getting Ken’s number. They were so obviously flirting and it’s so cute.

I was rewatching this movie last year, and, damn, I was surprised that it’s way better than I though when I was a kid. Like…I remembered the story, a lot of scenes from it, characters, but, maaan, not this amazing cuts after the credits, cool jokes and how good each action was logically justified!
Also, CGI is better than alright, I’m a South Park fan, I can tolerate literally any visual in cartoons 😎💅

I watched the new live action movie today!!! I really liked it! It’s just so fun and lighthearted but also calls out A LOT of todays societal issues. It also makes you laugh at all the jokes about playing how we used to play with Barbie dolls when we were younger! Also love your reaction! I was obsessed with all the animated Barbie movies when I was younger ( and still do🥰)

Hi, in my opinion it's one of Barbie's most intelligent films, the joke about "fool's gold" and how Preminger wants to get it for greed always makes me laugh. I really LOVE the special effects in the early films, they weren't perfect but they had that sweet and nice fairy tale atmosphere. From "Barbie, fashion in Paris" (2011) onwards the films have improved in special effects but my eyes hurt because of the exaggerated colours, the shameless recycling of many characters and a very boring story. Nothing like the first ones, because of them many girls wanted to be ballerinas or have a purple unicorn xD

This is top 3 barbie cartoons for me. Mans caught himself simping and covered badly, then we need to appreciate the fact that Erica was not instantly the perfect decoy. Idk why I love these movies as a freaking ADULT who didn't even watch them until adulthood but I do!

Absolutely one of the best Barbie movies loved growing up and watching these. Never will forget when I was 16 and my sis 14 we met our younger sibling ( step sibling) sister 4 and brother 2. We introduced Barbie right away to the the 4 year old after watching it she wanted us to act out the movie while we watched it again. She was Annalise my sis Erica and brother the bad guy. She then came to me and said you’ll be the queen since your old…. Had to remind myself this was a child before I said anything bad 😂.

OMG, this was one of my favorite movies when I was little, and I still love it! My sister would always watch it with my sister and she’d pretend to be Annalise and I would be Erika. Also, you look so beautiful in your royal outfit and I love your videos! 💖
Two other ones I recommend watching are The Magic of Pegasus (best couple in the entire Barbie movie franchise) and 12 Dancing Princesses (the relationship between the sisters is wholesome)

see, i love barbie movies. especially the older ones bcs i grew up with them. but exactly because of that i looove throwing shades at some of the stuff in it. it was great and makes sense when i was a kid, as a fully grown, jaded adult they're funny in a different way.

Ahhh, I'm sure this is the favourite movie of the Barbie fandom, and it's definitely mine!!!! I love it!!! I re-watch it from time to time. It's pretty nostalgic. I remember when I was 10 or 11 I played Erika in a school activity and it was epic. I also named one of my cats Cerafina after Annelise's cat. I remember I was obsessed with Julian. He's so handsome!!!! The songs were beautiful. It was funny. It had a beautiful message. Preminger was iconic af. Why Mattel stopped doing good movies? 😭
Actually, we Barbie fans have some theories. For example: 1-Annelise's mom is actually Princess Genevieve from The 12 Dancing Princesses movie. 2-Erika's mom is Odette's sister from The Swan Lake. 3-Preminger was the same butler that appeared at the beginning of The 12 Dancing Princesses, and ended up working for Queen Genevive when she moved to a new kingdom. 4-Annelise and Erika are actually Tori and Keira's ancestors, and the kingdom that appeared in The Princess and the Popstar (that turned 500 years old in that movie) is the same kingdom of The Princess and the Pauper.
I love the fanmade theories though I disagree with 1 and 3, because Princess Genevieve noticed at first sight that Rowena was evil while Queen Genevieve didn't plus Princess and the Pauper was released first before 12 Dancing princesses. And yes, PaTP is also my fave Barbie movie. ❤❤
