Some mangoes like Maha are great for a long season. My All Summer is flowering for the first time and based on the blooms I should have mangoes All Summer.
My alphonso bloomed about 1/4 of the tree a month ago and is now just begining to bloom on the rest of the tree. Looking forward to a nice two cropper this summer!
LOL. No! Mike and I used to work together and he is the person who got me into mango sales. We talk a few times a week. We are each others cheerleaders and encourage each other.
Last year's winter was much colder and dryer. Last year was nice, but for me, it was a lot of fruit all at once. Hopefully, we'll have a longer mango season this year.
I'm honestly starting to think Mango trees are Aliens with a strange mind of their own. Vero/Ft Pierce here, and my trees are all over the map this year.
Hi Alex: In my case, specifically, it is the "Ice Cream Mango Tree". It gave a full bloom but they all dried up and fell off without a single fruit set! The same thing happened last season. However last season there was a 2nd bloom on which it held 1 single fruit! I recently watched a video from "Orlando Gardener" where he stated that "Ice Cream" produces 2 blooms with the first bloom mostly male flowers, but it will sometimes do a 2nd bloom which will have more female flowers and possible fruit set. What can you tell me about this phenomenon? Otherwise I will be sorely disappointed with this Ice Cream tree. Thanks for any suggestions.
Ice Cream is among the varieties which have a tendency to produce a disproportionate amount of male flowers depending on conditions before the flowers have appeared. The biggest determining environmental factor in their sexual expression is the temperatures experienced in the run up to the bloom and response varies by cultivar. It can be very frustrating to have a tree like this and it’s why we don’t typically recommend Ice Cream to non-collectors. But yes, very often trees like this will flower a second time and the new batch of flowers has more females to set some fruit.
In Florida, December to April for possible blooms. Then different mangoes take 90 to 150 days to grow so the season can give you a Wild ride!

Extended season here too.
You got some competition from the Bearing Fruit Tropicals channel. They've been killing it with all the new mango content from Dr. Campbell

Vince, you do a good job of interviewing Alex.
Agreed, also Alex is a great interviewee, he answers all questions thoroughly and clearly.
@iglesias1125 Sometimes, Alex holds back. I'm a mango nerd 🤓. I love hearing all about mangoes. 😅
Thank you!
Great video… Thanks for sharing Vince
Always a pleasure!
You're very welcome!
As an Irwin lover and parent I feel attacked.
Sorry. Just don’t ask Alex about a Tommy A.
Thank you Vincent. This video 📹 answered my questions about my Haden tree. Looks like an extended season. Wife loves Haden.
Glad it answered your questions. Nervous anticipation this time of year.

I hope so too!

Blooms are a little odd this year. But I think in my favor. I’m hoping for a longer season.
I feel like my trees like to flower from the bottom up im in the Orlando area

Imam Passand is easier than Ice Cream, more productive with nearly identical flavor. It's not a vigorous cultivar.

@@TropicalAcresFarmsThanks Alex. I knew I would get a logical explanation from you, the Mango King of South Florida!
One of my trees appears to have been wiped out by white powdery mildew. All the flowers are rotting off with no fruit set. Sucks.
Oh no sorry to hear that. Try water hose to wash off the Powdery Mildew then spray with sulfur or copper to try to prevent it from returning
