thanks for showing that adaptor. I was scratching my head wondering why this carrier didn’t work with my mountain bike..
Slim, QUIET, works great. I wanted modern and out of the way. This is it!
Glad you like it!
Thanks, I couldn't find the lock cable in the box, didn't know it was built into the unit 🤦
Ditto! I looked for 30 minutes as this is not clear at all from the Thule instructions !
Thanks for the info dude, I just bought one
Thank you for creating this very informative video!
Good job Rusty
Thank you. I never knew the strap that keeps it from swaying existed. Is that something you have to buy separately? I have the 2 bike holder from the same company but a different model.
Excellent video, so practical and well explained.
Great video and explanation!
Glad you liked it!
How do you adjust the groves that bike sets into?
A great purchase
We're glad you like it!
Great video! You just got one minor detail wrong. The five bike version has the same arm length. The distance between mounts is reduced from 7 inches to 5.5 inches.
Enjoying the biking using it
Hello. Great, thanks for commenting!
THANKS GREAT INFO ON THAT RACK
Our pleasure 👍
Thank you so much for this thorough walk-through of the Thule Apex XT. I am purchasing my first ever bike rack for our bikes and this gave me all the information I was curious about. I had no idea that bike racks didn't work with womens bikes - hmph! I guess I have no choice but to purchase the adapter. Thank you again.
Hello. Glad you found the video helpful. Also consider a platform style rack which would not require an adapter for the woman's frame type: ua-cam.com/video/HG0pC2C2hm4/v-deo.html
@@rackattack Oh, good idea. I didn’t consider a platform rack. I was really drawn to the lightweight feature of the hanging racks.
@@LaurelsCurls The KUAT Sherpa 2.0 is a platform rack and very light at only 32 pounds (two bike versions only).
@@rackattack oh, thank you for the heads up. I did decide to go with the Thule 4-bike rack since I need to fit my bike and the kids’.
Great job
Thank you!
I bought mine second hand however it didn't come with the receiver hitch😔 it just came with an adapter. Do I need the receiver hitch? Can I use it straight to the hitch
How do you supplement with "additional security"? You mean add a U lock? Would have been nice to see this demonstrated.
We just felt a little hesitant showcasing or recommending something we don't sell. That tends to be more of a bike shop item and we try and play nice with our Retail Cousins. A U-lock or a heavy chain lock to be applied when you are parked would be my recommendation. And leaving anything overnight is just asking to have your stuff messed with.
Thanks for the great question though!
Two black screws came with mine. What are they for? The poor instructions that came with the rack shows one going into the bottom unit where the rack release that lowers it is.
The bolts go near the base of the of this rack. Their purpose if to prevent the rack from being pushed against the vehicle. You can find the location of the bolts on step 1 of the instruction.
Is the rack lock to the hitch receiver secured enough since the rack is very expensive?
Hello. Yes, the locking turn knob offers a very high level of theft deterrent.
www.rackattack.com/hitch-bike-racks/thule-apex-xt-2-bike/ Thanks!
I bought this rack and put it on my hitch receiver. It went in as far as yours did. I’m worried that it’s not far enough back. Are you sure that the distance from the pin hole opening to the receiver hole opening is deep enough?
Hello. The Auto-Pin on the rack stinger will automatically position the stinger in the receiver to the correct depth. It is important to check the specific hitch to confirm the hitch pin hole is no less than 1.5 inches from the end of the hitch as illustrated in the manual, page 2:

Can it loosen from driving vibrations?
It is possible but not very likely. It is recommended to check it every 500 miles.
why doesn't the carrier seat all the way into the receiver? i had to drill a second hole farther back for it to go ALL THE WAY into the receiver.
i drilled a hole farther back on my receiver.
Just confirming - the pin does NOT lock into place, right?
Hello. Correct, the Auto-Pin is guide to ensure the rack is inserted to the correct depth into the hitch and acts as a supplement to the tightened wedge that holds the rack into the hitch while the turn knob is what locks the rack to the hitch. Thanks!
it would be better if you started with the rack OFF the car and show how to put it on. Wasted time in the beginning of this video.
