Anyone still listening to this hard hitting song in 2023/2024??
Always🤞🏻
Do you remember!!!
ofc :D
I listen to this all of the time. The feeling is just very relatable.

If you've had monsters in your childhood you could also relate to this song very well
They All need a rocksalt encrusted ball bat...I'm sure you can use your imagination.
@@tashacherry1480 You got that fucking right!!! \m/
It's cool my mom has the monster spray but as I got older I realized it was just water

Yes. I seriously think that's why Corey just takes this song to a different level.
Given Corey's recent coming out about his sexual abuse when he was a child at the hands of someone older he trusted, this really gets an extra punch to it in terms of understanding his passion and rage.
This song has gotten better with time but for all the "wrong" reasons.
Slipknot XIX
I just cried reading that and hearing this song after so many years.. it’s such a powerful yet painful song
I echo his feelings. When your own parents believe the abuser and your left alone with your pain, I feel every cord of this song.
I got that he wrote the song because of the abuse after the first few lines. Not very many good artists write things from a 3rd part perspective
@@sabiti5428 He never wrote this song
2024 anyone?
Cory Taylor is a legend
Fuck yeah!!!
When I saw Stone Sour uo close at the house of blues or eyes met and i thought I was gonna faint! The I caught Josh's guitar pic in my cleavage. Greatest memory ever!
Cory Taylor is Mamadisimo
I remember catchin corey and the knot in a small bar up in Iowa City. I mean small 200 capacity if that. Slipknot and mudvayne were just breaking. Mudvayne was handin out demo casette tapes with death blooms. I was early on. Didnt have a drivers license yet. My dad had to take me and a buddy. Ill never forget that night
Mudvaynes singer thought my dad was a bouncer talked to him for a minute. Lost dad before christmas last year. Memories
Why Apocalyptica are so epic? Every song they create is a pure masterpiece!
Slipknot XIX
Totally agree
Well, when you have classically trained savant musicians that have been heading orchestral arrangements of adults since they were children, like Perttu, you tend to get absolutely insanely solid compositions. These guys understand musical theory better than people twice their age.
I'm WAY late to the party, but I'm so so SO glad I found this band.. 💓
They're from Finland. Apparently, people there are just as badass.
This song hits me at my core. I had my childhood stolen from me when I was 10 by a church leader when he sexually assaulted me. The church knew he had a history of sexual abuse with his own child and hid it. Corey sings from his soul and I want to hug him and ask him who hurt him so bad.
That's fucked up, every pedophile should be locked away forever
It would be better if Ancient Humans never invented religion but instead focus their time on science, rationality, economy and social welfare
Humans would have colonized the Solar System by 9,000 BCE!
@@tonka1434 the person who stole my innocence is on his death bed now and will soon answer for what he’s done. I take solace in the fact that he’s got a reserved seat in hell.
@@christiandauz3742 They did focus on these things, a lot more than we do. They were smarter than we are today too. You should do your homework.

Bullshit
The Ancient Humans WASTED TIME AND MONEY ON RELIGION!
God. This song is so old now, but it still gives me chills-- it's such an incredible change to see victims of abuse portrayed as powerful and intimidating rather than pitiful broken birds. We're something that our abusers should be afraid of, living proof of their crimes, and that's... something VERY powerful to think about.
@vodkasvoice OMG, *Thank You* for this comment. It came when I needed to hear that most. Literally as I was trying to book trauma counseling, my abusers tried to break through the call. Because of my parents, I am permanently disabled due to spinal damage, head trauma, multiple fractures, and CPTSD. They were “respected deacons in their church.” Even had me exorcised, saying my pleas to others for help were pathological lies, and *they* were the true victims. Well, I’m not shutting up. “We are the evidence of their crimes” as Indian activist John Trudell once said. We own our rage, our pain, and our power. Much love to you, fellow survivor! ✊
@@melissawhite4620 Oh, I'm so glad to hear that my comment could help you! Yeah, exactly! We aren't wreckage, we're EVIDENCE, and in hurting us, they gave us the most powerful weapon against them. I hope you can find peace, comfort, and justice, friend.
They should fear us, because as hard as they tried to destroy us, we passed through that crucible, and they unintentionally made us into something unbreakable.
When I saw Apocalyptica last year in Atlanta, I got to see this live for the first time since my abuser died. I had my entire childhood stolen from me after being abused from god only knows how young til the age of 14. While my abuser wasn't clergy, he was highly respected within his church. I didn't realize I was going to ball my eyes out while I was singing this at the top of my lungs. It was such a healing moment for me and the start of me healing from the inside out. I didn't know at the time that I needed that amount of healing and completely thought I was through all of it. How wrong I was.
To Apocalyptica: You've always gotten me through the tough times. Thank you for making this song and allowing me to listen to it on repeat whenever I need to. You guys are amazing and you'll never truly know how much your music means to me. I cant wait til you guys come back to the states so I can do another 11 shows. ❤❤❤
"And the innocence you spoiled found a way to live."
The whole song is amazing but that line is what hits me. Because that is what I take from this song: hope. For me, that is the greatest revenge to the people who hurt me, to show that it didn't break me. That I rose above it and I'm thriving despite what they did. My innocence may have been taken and my soul stained because of it but I am stronger than my trauma and I will keep moving forward and better my life because that is the ultimate win. You are better than what happened to you and you can find a way above it. ❤
Nowhere else remotely appropriate to share this, so bear with me...
I'm 34. At 14, I was in 8th grade at a Catholic boarding school in the middle of Indiana, and I had no friends save for one staff member, Mr Shannon. As I got older i got a weird impression of my memories of that time, and now I realize how badly I was groomed by him. He ended up getting fired for touching a kid, which my innocent young self associated with a fight, not a fondle. I was thinking about my time there, and remembered why he got fired and it all made sense, including the things he would say to me and how much time he spent around me. It's really disheartening, because I really thought he was a friend. I was 33 years old by the time I put everything together, and it really just hurts.
Thanks for listening.
Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for opening out. I know it wasn't easy to share
Thank you for sharing, so many of us have been thru this in our lives, it's not easy to be open and vocal about it. people need to know and learn so we can heal and NOT sweep it under a rug!!!
Right there with you 30 yrs old with 2 daughter's and facing the demons of my past....its hard to comprehend it's even harder to not let hate take control....stay strong protect the little ones!
As a survivor I understand how hard it was to come out with this. Thank you
Painfully underrated song
Thank you for showing the children that have had trauma in life that they can have power over it. I love your strength Corey, you have my appreciation as an artist and strong child making his adult life even more stronger

Apocalyptica - I'm not Jesus, KoЯn - Daddy, Three Days Grace - Never too late
Three horsemen of getting through child abuse trauma
Underrated song
Dirty little secret
Dirty little lies
Say your prayers and comb your hair
Save your soul tonight
Drift among the faithful
Bury your desires
Aberrations fill your head
You need a place to hide
And I am
Do you remember me?
The kid I used to be?
Do you remember me?
When your world comes crashing down
I want to be there
If God is looking down on me!
I'm not Jesus
Jesus wasn't there!
You confess it all away
But it's only shit to me
If God is looking down on me!
I'm not Jesus
I will not forgive!

I've thought you talked to God
You hippocratic, messianic, child abusing, turned satanic

Do you remember?
When your own world comes undone
Let me be the one to say

You can't run away!
And the innocence you spoil
Found a way to live
If God is looking down on me!
I'm not Jesus
I will not forgive!
I will not forgive
I won't be whatever you want to
I will not forgive
I won't be whatever you want to

This song helps with me not doing meth any more. It reminds me of a time before the addiction. Also during and after. But ultimately a sentimental song to empower my mental state.
I am so happy you found, peace and a new found respect for yourself.
Dude, words cannot describe how much I am proud of you. Meth addiction sucks. My mom was a meth and heroin user and let me tell you; it was hell living with her. I am so glad you found the power and courage to get sober. Rock on, man! 🤘🤘🤘🏻

This is a sad song but I get it. That SOB, if they hurt him, is awful. A child is messed up for the rest of their lives. I am so sorry Corey. No child should ever never go through that. They take away your innocence.

As an adult having to keep dealing with the trauma of my own blood paternal grandfather molesting them and knowing their own father kept making sure no justice will be served for me so they can keep receiving a check from them; this song hits so hard. Sure, forgiveness is suppose to be for those who have been wronged but, it doesn't subside the rage inside me. The rage only wants them to suffer as much, if not more, as I did. The suffering wants more than justice now; it wants vengeance.
