They're not really under any pressure. Dave owns the studio and all the equipment. They don't have to record 12 songs in a week or two because studio time costs out the ass, also other bands aren't waiting on them to be done.
I don’t even have to say this because everyone knows it, but I just have to say it anyway: Corey Taylor is a true once in a lifetime talent and one of greatest rock singers of this generation. His voice is so dynamic; he goes from soft to soulful to brutal effortlessly. One of my favorites.
Corey's the real deal. No doubt about that. Thats what's always made me mad about people saying "metal bands are talented, its just a bunch of noise and screaming". Yeah, in a lot of cases it does sound like that, but they don't realize its all on purpose. Not to mention, metal is just ONE genre musicians play. Most metal guys I know (including myself) can also play blues, rock, classical, etc. And listen to Corey - the dude can sing when the music calls for it. Very powerful, soulful voice.
Stone Sour and anything he has done on his CMFT or Hated tours. Seriously if you haven't watched his Hated set, look it up it is worth spending an hour to watch it all

Thank you thank you thank you. That was the best 20 minutes of my day. Amazing to see all that talent come all together, I really can't wait til the album release. Keep up the good work guys.
Anti Retard Equation corey taylor has 6 Octaves. He’s always had that range while singing. He has a more natural low voice though so if you compare someone who can sing high like Axl Rose to Corey, Axl’s will seem a lot more high even though they are hitting the same note.
Corey Taylor had a 5 octave voice AT BEST. Christ everyone on here is worshipping. After D-F5 hes pretty much useless except for whistles and odd noise artifacts (which are NOT singing). To give you all an idea, Mariah Carey has about a 6 octave voice if you count her super low register range in the D-G1 range.
I could listen to this 100 times and not be sick of it, holy shit. Taylors voice is godlike, so much range & emotion, Grohl nothing needs to be said hes one of the best, but that guitar playing by Nielsen gives me chills & I didn't even grow up listening to them, this is one of the best songs I've ever heard, put together beautifully by some of musics best "I'm burnin my cathedrals, cause I don't pray anymore" Damn that's a good line

@@miguelnascimento2847 Ya you're right, Nirvana Nevermind was bland. The Smashing Pumpkins Gish and Siamese Dream bland bland bland, Sonic Youth, Green Day, Soul Asylum.. bland bland bland. Wait. Well then hey, you're still free to your opinion regardless of how off base it is to the vast majority of people who like good music. This is my view on him and it's a subjective opinion on the perception I have of sound so I couldn't care less about the opinion of the masses that listen to "good music" since my point remains no matter the argument, because there isn't one.
@@miguelnascimento2847 I have listened and owned all those albums actually. The Pumpkins are my favorite band, and Gish is raw, while Siamese Dream was anything but bland. Anything that cannot be place in one genre, and I'll take a quote from an online resource which states it well: The Pumpkins sound is ANYTHING but bland: 'disavowing the punk rock roots of many of their alt rock contemporaries, they have a diverse, densely layered, and guitar-heavy sound' (I love the guitar distortion, its what hooked me) 'containing elements of gothic rock, heavy metal, dream pop, psychadelic rock, shoegazing, and electronica in later recordings.' Since you're already on UA-cam try watching some of the series What Makes This Song Great Episode 23 Smashing Pumpkins, and while he could have chosen better songs, it at least gives a much more fair appreciation of elements in a musical composition of a song, that isn't always obvious to people. Not just Pumpkins songs. He does Nirvana songs as well. Boston - More Than a Feeling is a great example of the effort that went into great music. And I don't know why everyone thinks any essence of pop is any indicator of a lack of anything. Pop is short for popular. Meaning it's accessible and appreciated by a wide audience. Since when does wide appreciation mean inferior? If anything it connects people. People made up of every sort of person from audiophiles to musically intelligent, to musically gifted or totally lacking thereof. No one gets to decide what is good music or bad music, but music snobs try don't they? I am only disagreeing with your statement because I feel it to be baseless, other than the use of the pop reference as some type of self explanatory indicator. Musical taste and peoples opinions on musical acceptance or lack thereof isn't a currency that gets you in any clubs, shows or events. Now if you 're talking about manufactured crap that is common nowadays, and reached node critical the day someone tried to give Chad Kreuger a nickle back.. that's more along the lines of acceptable conditions for agreeable opinion. But it's all still just an opinion. Not any single one is the be all end all for everyone or anyone.

music is amazing!
Musicians are overrated!
Was NOT expecting that from Rick Nielsen at all. That was incredible.
Do a search for Cheap Trick's cover of "Please Mrs. Henry" if you want to be REALLY blown out of the water.
There's just so much awesomeness in that studio.....Taylor behind the mic, Neilson on guitar, Reeder on bass, Grohl behind the drum kit, and Vig producing it at the board! How did the recording studio remain standing after they left!!??
It was done at Sound City Studios the last weekend it was even open and I believe it in fact stands no more
Gives me a " I want you" by The Beatles feel in the intro.
Yeah dude! That kind of Doom Metal (or apocalyptical vibe) also remind me of war pigs
It's a fucking masterpiece
Every time I listen to Corey sing I feel more and more connected with him. His lyrics express my pain and sorrow but also my anger and frustration exactly. It would be an honor to meet the man and share with him that his music has saved my life...
this is the power of music makes u feels like a diapason others people feelings .....like Beiing in front of a mirror....
Owh f off man
I thought these were Grohl's. But yeah I love slipknot and stone sour.
@@iskandarzakaria8799 I know right 😂
😐
Damn Corey Taylors voice gives me chills. Ahhhhh!!!
and I love when you hear his raspy voice coming thru in the line "Burning my cathedrals" and later on. It amazing how he comes from the most soft voice to the most aggressive one. I'm not much of a Slipknot fan but Corey's vocal range and skills are crazy.
Eriml RGG listen to gently by slipknot...he also goes from really soft to really aggressive in a heart beat, and if you watch the live from thier disasterpieces dvd you can see him switch gears...truly amazing
I accidentally came across this track from a Foo Fighter video-WTF??? WHY have I not heard this beautiful voice before when listening to Slipknot? Goosebumps!
It’s all in the neck lmao
"what are you doing to my guitar?!"
"finally playing it"
😂🎸
However high you sit, always maintain respect for those around you, who help you. Cory is a straight up savage yet he understands where he is and who is his ppl.
lol "the Slipknot guy's pretty polite" xD
Fucking Dave. XD
i love their attitudes. i've never really watched recording sessions, but this one looks like so much fun. you just go in and throw down.
They're not really under any pressure. Dave owns the studio and all the equipment. They don't have to record 12 songs in a week or two because studio time costs out the ass, also other bands aren't waiting on them to be done.
@@Maelauwchkxsz It's just musicians doing their art and there you see the outcome. Life could be so easy.
I don’t even have to say this because everyone knows it, but I just have to say it anyway:
Corey Taylor is a true once in a lifetime talent and one of greatest rock singers of this generation. His voice is so dynamic; he goes from soft to soulful to brutal effortlessly. One of my favorites.
Corey is such a professional guy... he can do clean vocals, scream. He takes care of his voice. I hope he can keep rocking for decades!
Love their faces when Rick starts to solo.
Everyone is jizzing all over Corey's voice, Guys!!!
There is an amazing guitarplayer shredding a guitar to pieces, come on!
not to mention im also jizzing all over Corey's voice
Jeff Van Der Linden now I want Corey's voice to jizz all over me
What an amazing creative environment these people have.
That ending was gold!!
How can his voice sound so beautiful even when it's so agressive? 🥰🥰🥰🥰🎧🎶
Seriously if you haven't watched his Hated set, look it up it is worth spending an hour to watch it all
when i got my freedom, and ran away, i slept in my jeep. i found that once my ears and mind finally picked out all of the nuance and depth. i then really got hungry for metal of a large variety. i was also on a job in indianola iowa, and stopped in des moines to look at guitars and i run into pre first drop for slipknot, theres Corey in the shop looking at stuff. like i swear, 2 months later the guy was the top name in metal. im more of a Stone Sour guy, but i love a lot of Slipknot. also like how he plays with others.
Metal, especially speed and tech metal, is music made FOR musicians. That's why most people dont understand and like it.
Slipknot sucks live especially vocals. Mumbling out of breath. Studio band
when i heard the guitar intro and the drum intro i knew it was Dave Grohl. its so fuckin distinct
Funny cause its a Beatles tune
Neal Covert It's not. It has a Beatles-vibe, but the song is entirely Grohls work
Theres a bit I swear I could take right from a beatles song I didnt mean the song is a beatles song just a little tune inside I caught
reminded me of "The Pretender" by the Foo Fighters, and that one off Stone Sourn "House of gold and bones" pt1
sour*
“Dude, you have an awesome voice”
-Aww Thank you, I had a great song to work with
Corey Live: Sings the Spongebob Theme & kills it. 😂
I can't seem to get enough of this song. Might be my favorite of the last few years. Brings out emotion in me from deep. Thanks you guys.
Thank you thank you thank you. That was the best 20 minutes of my day. Amazing to see all that talent come all together, I really can't wait til the album release. Keep up the good work guys.
The album has already been released in 2013.
I haven't seen it. when I Google it, it's says 2015 release.
Thats not acurate but its from 2013 the sound city OST
You sure I though it was from the new super band Teenage Time Killers
Nope, that is still to come.
That fucking guitar solo is incredible. It's been stuck in my head for days
Corey's still got it! That studio is beautiful, & Dave Grohl has that calm energy that works so well with Corey's voice. & that guitar work is ROCKIN!
Still got it? This is from 10 yrs ago
"Who CAN play an ebow?"
Call Brad Delson. Linkin park.
4:06 HOLY SHIT, this voice...
How dare he mention Autotune in the presence of Mr five-and-a-half-octave Corey Taylor! He did that song in a couple takes!
Autotune
original songs by jonathan lewis whats autotune coreys voice?
@@oblivion5823 fluffy65 said how dare he mention autotune so i mentioned it. Im immature that way.
12:43 - "why do people hate me before they meet me?" ('why?') "to save time!"
almost made me spit out my drink from laughing at that one xD
Beast of a voice, he can sell you whatever he’s singing with goosebumps.
I could listen to this 100 times and not be sick of it, holy shit. Taylors voice is godlike, so much range & emotion, Grohl nothing needs to be said hes one of the best, but that guitar playing by Nielsen gives me chills & I didn't even grow up listening to them, this is one of the best songs I've ever heard, put together beautifully by some of musics best
"I'm burnin my cathedrals, cause I don't pray anymore"
Damn that's a good line
6:52 😂😂 "That Slipknot guy is pretty polite"
I’m incredibly late to the party but, Corey is an insane talent - that voice has so many levels and styles in it.
19:11 cleary a smooth reference of spit it out by slipknot
That's a smooth one
Butch Vig's name should be in the title of this video. He's a super big time producer.
Not a bad musician either. He kicked ass in Garbage!
never really liked him as a producer, everything that man touches sounds bland and like everything he has touched before. A good producer would make sure the sonic identity of the band remains intact
@@miguelnascimento2847 Ya you're right, Nirvana Nevermind was bland. The Smashing Pumpkins Gish and Siamese Dream bland bland bland, Sonic Youth, Green Day, Soul Asylum.. bland bland bland. Wait. Do we have the same definition of bland? It means - the bands best selling albums that went platinum infinity, right? No? Oh ok. Well then hey, you're still free to your opinion regardless of how off base it is to the vast majority of people who like good music. (Find it funny you use the term "sonic identity" unless it was a tongue in cheek comment alluding to Sonic Youth. In which case, I take back my comment, and raise your comment to a well played - thumbs up. ;D
@@ricktremblay2411 listen to the music released by all those bands and compare with and without him producing it and you might get my point.
He has a sound of his own that (to me) sounds bland, he turns whatever he works with from raw to something pop'ish sounding.
WHAT A FUCKING VOICE!!!
I love coming back to watch this. Such a great video, and a great song.
Badass all around. I can’t get enough of Rick’s solo. These fellas should start a band together.
14:38 Dave needs to apply cold water to that burn.
hahahahhaha same thought man same thought
riquediz 100 - I can't play a single chord on the Guitar. Seriously I have tried a hundred times and failed. I just don't get it. My wife on the other hand can fucking shred it.She was watching this with me and was open jawed watching Rick doing his thing. Then promptly lost her shit at that burn. I haven't seen her laugh that hard in years.
Please don't apply cold water to burns. That is harmful. Use luke warm water. Carry on.
When rick plays the guitar, all of em just look at him with that "He still owns the game" looks. Love it
I would love to see the WHOLE making of the whole album !!
Pure et exquisite moments, thank you for sharing it !
It's great to see the work that goes into the songs that sometimes overplayed don't get the attention they should and this just reopened my eyes on this track
Holy fucking shit, when Ricky went ham...I think I came a little!!
Best 20 mins of my life??
Aral Eker agreed!!
Doesn’t matter when or where I hear this song, it’s been years and it feels like I’m listening to this for the first time. The fckin power this song has is amazing in so many ways. So much talent, so much force!! Man what a song, thank you Dave Grohl 🫶🏽
You can see and hear the raw emotion poured into that song, gives me goosebumps just watching it!!
"This is how your parents used to make albums kids"............Hilarious :D And soooooo true. I miss the good old times....And greetings to all 80's and 90's :) Im from 1983. Greetins from Poland. Stay Sic!
this is fantastic to see how the professionals work in the studio!
I'm really happy to have seen this. A song I've loved for years by performers I've loved for years. I love seeing the process and decision making.
I"ve watched this probably 100 times never gets old just amazing.
this is the best making of a song that i^ve ever seen
I don't think I've ever been more emotionally moved by a single vocalist in such a short amount of time. Corey Taylor is one HELL of a man, and he knows what he's doing, and he's doing it right.
Long Live Rock and Roll.
The song is amazing. Seeing how alot of it came together is unforgettable!
Love how amped everyone is in the studio!
