  • World Vision is honoured to have been able to host this side event together with ICVA at the 11th Asia Pacific Forum for Sustainable Development (APFSD). Join an honest and timely discussion on the localisation agenda.
As Sarah Bearup says "We are here today to give voice to the complex realities of the localisation agenda. To see localisation in terms of challenging power and empowering voices at the margins. This goes for challenging privileged local or international actors, trade policies or local norms. In the humanitarian sector, the mantra is often "as local as possible, as international as necessary." This is relevant across the whole nexus.
World Vision is deepening our intentionality and our commitments to locally-led action across the nexus. We believe wholeheartedly in being globally connected and locally led in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing humanitarian landscape.
World Vision recently published research titled ‘Inherently Local’. While there was consistent validation by local CBOs, describing World Vision as a ‘trustworthy and equitable partner’, there are also important opportunities to improve. Where possible, we must confront our cultural bias to implement, and invest proactively in capacity development (just to name a few). We are committed to supporting a diverse, inclusive, locally led ecosystem across the nexus in a time of rapid change and increasing need."
