Tl;dr thank you everyone who tweeted as this directly impacted UA-cams decision to unban Nate. Yes, they actually heavily factor in social media backlash.
I showed the wrong version of talking pirates the version that got striked was the same thing but a heavyyy blur on the manga panels, I'll try and upload a peek of that when i get home (Here's that: ua-cam.com/video/Z80Xa1jPnps/v-deo.html ). Also it seems NuxTaku is currently advocating for BGE with his UA-cam rep. Fingers crossed there, otherwise Nates only recourse may be legal action.
Apologies for the doomer takes but it's always frustrating being reminded how UA-cam capitulates to companies who can spam bogus strikes without any blowback. There's an entire middle man industry built around this automated system. To elaborate on my example, I've had a strike on the same minute of a video for the same song (which was flagged as a completely different song) and have had to appeal it 3 times already as the dispute sits for 30 days at a time, forever locking the revenue in limbo. As I say in the claim, I have appealed this 3 times, can we just not anymore? Alas I am going crazy because I am being spammed by a bot and then trying to appeal to yet another bot for justice. So annoying how UA-cam can't even be bothered to make it so that if it's appealed once they can't claim again, how easy would that be? Not to mention that UA-cam hides behind their algorithm and deflects any responsibility by acting like they're hands off. In my world, doctors are paid by insurers to come in and approve as many insurance pre-authorizations for medical procedures as possible in a day. Split second decisions looking at xrays and charts, "approve that, dont approve that..." You're telling me a company whose part of a 1.8 trillion dollar market cap really can't hire anyone to just come in, take a look before terminating a channel, and make these obvious split second decisions? No, because the way of Silicon Valley is to automate everything, cut jobs, and save themselves the payroll.
Also lastly, sorry for the pre-roll ads. I left those on as its my personal conspiracy theory that monetized videos get pushed harder in the algorithm than videos UA-cam stands to make no money on.

This copyright strike stuff really is insane man. I tried making a video with a song from an anime from like 10 years ago which is not available to listen to on the internet at all, is not on streaming services, is not available to download except from rando file sharing. The ONLY way that the song can be heard legally is by buying the CD from Japan, and Sony saw my little elden ring montage and said "nah I'd win"

This is actually insane. When you showed what BestGuyEver's content looked like, I was dumbstruck. Like, there are reaction channels that barely even hide the movies/episodes they are watching and those are fully monetized and completely fine, yet this guy who is just talking about a show, gets all of his channels wiped, lol.

It’s my opinion that AI is, and will always be inferior to the human touch, but that’s not the reason Company’s love to use AI. They love using it because it’s cheap and fast, not because any decision it makes is actually worth a shit.

This is only from my understanding but anyway Japanese copyright law is damn near completely opposite from the US. Japan doesn't have free use laws so if a company or person sees someone using their product and they don't like it. They will have it taken down.
Yes. UA-cam has a tool for creators to block their videos in certain countries to avoid this since UA-cam is an American company. The problem is that this tool is only available to creators part of a giant management company 🙄. America's copyright laws are already ethically gray at best and is forced on other countries via agreements, Japan is downright draconian

frankly it is a welcome thing that youtube takes intellectual property seriously. That keeps it afloat and fosters respect for law and makes it a legitimate place for people to gather and share without fear of having their intellectual property violated. JApanese companies hire animators who are woefully underpaid and it is often an actual full-time job in which they eat ramen work tirelessly and ear their keep over a long internship and forever toe the line of professionalism with little remuneration. Then companies make sometimes very modest profits on a creation that takes thousand of person hours and a multitude of professionals all working to create a piece of media. This kind of media is often fetishised in the US and is popular without understanding it or any respect for the process of creation or it's tongue-in-cheek intent which is almost always satirical. For this reason many adherents and consumers of japanese media are just that consumers, and not appreciative enough of the work. Intellectual property is often frivolously copied and violated by use in whole without enough original critique, effort , or exposition to classify it as an original work that makes an impression on the viewer who is watching that video that it in fact not the anime or form of media that the youtuber uploaded but their "witty" or insert other adjective commentary on it. I feel it is justifiable to disallow illegal activity without giving explainations on any platform , imagine a person who has 5 violations of a drunk driving offense or speeding caught by a automated system not paying the fine because they feel they deserve a chance. I feel you are not objective enough. Pressure tactics may work to bring back you personal favourite youtuber but they wil hurt the platform , respect for the law, and harm the creators of original works in foreign counties and make them hesistant to create and engage in ventures which though may find interest abroad generate little revenue for obvious reasons other that merchandise which is often a vulgar approximation of the whole. I feel your friend is a copyright violator , he fell foul of the law, youtube is merely a corporation. He directly injured the legal rights of creators in JApan, the copyright holders and animators and sundry and that he should take recourse to legal process if he feels there is merit in his case for i feel there will be no merit he seeks through acquaintances and parasocial appreciators to apply undue pressure to circumvent due process whihc applies to all other creators. This is patently unjust and cannot be supported.
