God Bless you Lizzie and Mrs Reynolds, we miss you. We hope you are sleeping well. God bless you for your talent and the years of enjoyment you gave us on sreen. x x x
Im only 14 and started watching prisoner near the end of last year, i love prisoner to death and i have watched every episode more than twice, its hard looking up to Charactors and knowing of them when there young but in reality the actress's are older and some even dead. I really wish i could of met Sheila Florance as she is one of my favorite actress's. RIP.
Hey there, I'm really glad some younger people have enjoyed this show too. I was 13 when Prisoner first aired and I lived around the corner from the Channel 10 studios, so we'd often see it being filmed around our local haunts. It formed a big part of my childhood. Lots of great memories.
Unfortunately there is another one to add, Judith McGrath, aka Mrs.Powell passed away on Sunday 22/10/17 aged 70. Time just goes so quickly. RIP Judith.
The Memories of all those in these episodes of Prisoner Cell Block H who have died are being kept alive by the episodes being shown on UA-cam. RIP all of them.
Much criticised programme but it was so easy to get hooked on it. Was always on about midnight on a sunday and enjoyed watching every episode back then. All these years on still remember most of those characters.
I'm 13 years old and I started watching Prisoner during the mid-term of the wide Australian school holidays. I'm up to episode 618 and I'm loving it. Unfortunately, as much as I'd like to speak to people about it at school and such, I don't know anyone that actually watches the show due to my age. I'm almost finished the series and I am looking forward to watching them all again. My favourite character of all time would probably be Cass. I'm a boy by the way.
Hey man, so you're 21 now. Did you ever watch it all? I was 13 when Prisoner first aired and I lived around the corner from the Channel 10 studios, so we'd often see it being filmed around our local haunts. Lots of great memories.
So sad that many of them died young. Excellent video. They will all live on in the hearts of the fans of the greatest soap every, PRISONER CELL BLOCK H.
Saddened to see that many of the actors died young, and most from cancer. I listed them as they appear in OPs video. I've said it on a very similar video but can't get over how some of these people died so incredibly young!! Love the pic of Lizzie in the pink dress...The panto episode where they try to tunnel out is definitely my favourite episode...still sometimes get 'This old man..he played one..he played knick-knack on my thumb' stuck in my head thanks to that episode
Very sweet and sad tribute to these people, though in reality the fans are not important. These people are happily living in the memories of their families and friends.
I just saw a movie that Olivia Hamnett made in 1980 called The Earthling. She played Ricky Schroder's mum. The movie was so good. I wish I could see it again.
Wentworth just means I'll love PCBH forever. I had to stay up till 04:40 to watch it in the UK when it was repeated on the 'new' channel 5 though I used to watch it on ITV
Very touching tribute, I was shocked to see Olivia Hamnett who played Kate Peterson so wonderfully has passed away. I think because it is still so fresh to us when we watch it that we forget the show began nearly 30 years ago and that sadly many of the stars are no longer with us.
Okay, the series is 30 years old, but many of the dead actors were young then and would only be in their 50's if still alive. Very sad and a lovely tribute.
And Sheila Florance was once a very pretty woman with three children, her only daughter died from a fall off a roof. The poor woman went to her grave thinking that she committed suicide, but she was pushed off by her fiancee. Her youngest son's ex wife has written a book about her. I bought it. Sheila raised a grandson also. She was a magnificent woman.
a lovely tribute-gutted to learn Wayne Jarratt(steve Faulkner)died so tragically and of Arkie Whitely(Donna Mason) and Spider Simpson's death, sad to see such talent lost before they could fulfil their potential.shocked Gerda Nicholson(Anne Reynolds)also gone-too early.I watched PCBH from age13 until it finished in 1994(uk).There has been no other series like it,it lives on in my memory forever. I agree. I watched the first one, it only lasted 10 minutes and i turned it off. I thought it was going to be like the old series, but it wasn`t. So i have started to watch all the old ones again.

I remember hearing of the deaths of Officer Faulkner, Governor Reynolds and the old Lizzie but I didn't know of the others. That was a nice gesture to their memory. Thank you.
'Mr Dwyer from the Department' was seen with Governor Reynolds in this video. Sadly, James Condon now no longer walks amongst us as he died earlier this year at the age of 90.

I bet permit does not permit, right? I bet you cherish the memories you have and I hope you relish in the fact that altho the show has been of the air for many years it is still very well known and ...(ctd)
No Worries ! I am sorry for not being abit more accurate about the details (where and when they died, etc) but I am a bit pushed right now to go to detail. Let's remember them for the entertainment, pleasure and of course fascination that these people brought to us ...
How about updating? Quite a lot of characters have knocked on Heavens door - Joyce Pringle, Judy Bryant, Ann Phelan for example! It is shocking that this hasn't been updated which may be a shock to fans who dont know!
Donna Mason and Spider Simpson are very sad because they were so young: Arkie Whiteley and Taya Straton. Also director Juliana Focht who died in an accident in Bali in 1983 at the age of 31.
sorry if this is a morbid list...just thought fans would like to know. 'Prisoner'ran from age 11-18 for me so it was a big part of growing up. God bless the deaprted and cheers to all fans
Does anyone know what happened to Sue Devine, who played Tracey Morris? I saw a rumour somewhere that she had died at a young age. I hope that rumour isn't true, but it's difficult to find any information about her.
Wayne Jarratt, the actor sadly died of a brain tumour. Heart rending isn't it. He'll never be forgotten as one of the good screws - Steve Faulkner. Sadly missed.
I hope you Aussies keep this list up to date. Those of us that are fans of the show in the States, don't hear about the death of Australian Soap Stars. I just found out today Mrs. Powell (Judith McGrath) died and had heard nothing about it here in the States. Any others that have passed since? I cannot believe MUM is still alive today... how miraculous. I love Mum.
@BaitzZiggy remains talked about in some of the most unlikely quarters ! So many people who I have come across have said that they never watched the show, had no regard for it and did not consider it good viewing - then, in a quite contradictory fashion - name all the charactors and some of the story lines and of course their favourite quotes ie"Vinegar tits" LOL! - So who's kidding who! Prisoner will never die and it's fanbase is as strong today as ever. Phenomonal !
Coleen Powell, I know she died quite recently and after this vid was made. I was sad to see Anne Reynolds on this list, had no idea. I remember that she also played a corrupt screw in Barnhurst in the early years of Prosoner
I fell in love with the concept of Prisoner back when it was on late at night in the USA, but even then I always felt that the show did not actually LEAN into the premise until the NOLA episodes. Don't get me wrong, Bea, Lizzie Doreen, even Lynn were all good characters, but I just did not ever see Frankie as being the THREAT they wanted her to come across as. Carol Burns was good in the role, but it was really Fiona Spence in those early episodes and seasons that kept me glued to the screen. Once she leaned into the character of 'Vinegar Tits' she stole the show. Even in the scenes where she was hopeless and sad with her home life, and her desperation for a man in her life, Fiona gave Vera the pathos needed to want her to succeed in something--ANYTHING. She was long-suffering and should have been made the Governor of Wentworth after Erica moved on. Still, there is not enough that could or ever will be said about the NOLA episodes. Meg--who had started out as a fav, but became too soap opera by this season--was not in the show enough to drag it down, and Carole Skinner stole the light from everyone else. It would have been good to see her butt heads with Vera, but Fiona had flown the coop log before she arrived. Her iconic death at the hands of Bea Smith was the one thing that, for me, lifted Bea out of the pile and made her the threat she had started out to be. I will say one word about Lizzie and Doreen. Lizzie was so perfectly portrayed, and Sheila Florence can rest assured that all who see her in that role will always see her in that role. Doreen, well she started out terrible, but well played, and she ended up terrible, but still well portrayed. I just could not like her.
@lollietacooliva WOW! How many episodes did you watch a day? It took me almost two years to get through the entire series on DVD and I watched several episodes a week.
Love Lizzie to, She was the best, R.I.P. Lizzie, she always took care of the new commer's, Her Character Speaks Volumes, She was A funny old bird. " I Recken"
Yessssss!!! Luv Lizzie too. She was alright with her grog! She was the glue that kept them together!

I think most of the charters from prisoner that are gone are from the old episodes
Sadly more have joined the list.
Pixie.
Joycie and Judy in November of this year.
Myra.
i'm pcbh's biggest fan and even i didnt know some of these had died. gosh, r.i.p!
Coleen Powell, I know she died quite recently and after this vid was made. I was sad to see Anne Reynolds on this list, had no idea. I remember that she also played a corrupt screw in Barnhurst in the early years of Prosoner
She died in 1992 of a stroke while preparing for a theatre performance.
what a moment in time
Anne Reynolds Died in 1992 at age 54 :(
I fell in love with the concept of Prisoner back when it was on late at night in the USA, but even then I always felt that the show did not actually LEAN into the premise until the NOLA episodes. I just could not like her.
that actually made me cry
2024 and almost nobody left.
