      DoubleDCharmin Depends what kind of meat and what you're gonna do with the product that has come in contact with the 'meat juice' for instance chicken needs to be disinfected but red meats aren't a real problem. If you cook the stuff later it isn't a problem either

      ***** Yeah, but he said to use dish soap also. And they have disinfectants in them. He shouldn't of set it up as a time saver. Instead he could of set it up as a way to completely, and thoroughly disinfect things.

      I wouldn't say it's moist and juiscy.
      Just hot and soft lol.. But definitely gives the ILLUSION of it being fresh like the term "Fresh out of the oven"
      But it's like saying when you put a burger in the microwave and it's burger trick! lol
      In actuality, the oil is just frozen and it makes the burger hard, heating up will soften it and melt the oil making it "Moist and Juicy"

  • @devilhunterred
    @devilhunterred 9 років тому +111

    Microwaving old donuts is like common sense.......
    I also don't suggest microwaving onions before you chop it, it will lose its fragrance and juice that gives it flavor while cooking, making cooking with the said onion redundant. It's just tears, be a man/woman and suck it up.

    • @HouseholdHacker
      @HouseholdHacker  9 років тому +11

      @Enkidu1701 9 років тому

      "It's just tears, be a man/woman and suck it up."
      Haha, you got a point there. On the other hand, if you have a very sharp (and probably thin) blade you will not cry while cutting onions. That does the trick for me.
      And if you´re still crying your blade isn´t sharp enough. This is true.
      Plus nothing wrong or unmanly with having a sharp blade.
      ;-)

    • @Simoong94
      @Simoong94 9 років тому

      Enkidu1701 as soon as you cut a onion you release the sulfur gas which causes your eyes to tear up, doesn't matter if you're using a thin knife. It still cuts the knife and then gases will be released.

    • @Enkidu1701
      @Enkidu1701 9 років тому +4

      Simon Glans
      Having a sharp knife matters a lot. I know from my own experience. You are right with the gas. But I´m pretty sure that the onion releases a lot more gas if you have a dull knife that doesn´t only cut but also squeeze the onion. BTW A thin knife is easier to get very sharp and is better to slice generally speaking.
      But you don´t need to believe me. Maybe my explanation is wrong. But nevertheless I´ve had this result multiple times. I just use my sharpest knife (Opinel carbon steel) and have no problems anymore with beeing unable to look through my eyes. Maybe it would still happen if I had to cut 10 or 20 onions, but with a dull knife the problem is a lot worse. I think everybody should test a really sharp knife. It helps a lot.

    So, here I am in New York, sitting in my office, watching this with headphones on, enjoying my time, when I go, "Hey, self, we recognize that beard, don't we?"
    So I try and place where I've seen that beard before, and I am thinking. Thinking so hard. So hard, I kinda forgot to breathe a little... I catch my breath, and with a fluid motion, I realise, that beard, it was *****! Then, as if I had harnessed all of the energy out of the room with that singular though, my electricity dropped out, leaving me sitting in the dark, questioning aloud, wondering if I had died.

    Have you ever been so poor that you can't afford to waste even a single stamp?

    • @seigeengine
      @seigeengine 9 років тому +5

      Let me put it this way. It takes 30 seconds to retrieve that stamp.
      At $0.50 a stamp (American, stamps cost $1.00 where I live), that's the equivalent of saving a dollar a minute, or the equivalent of $60 an hour.
      Considering the median American makes just under $17/hour, that means saving that stamp effectively paid you almost four times what the typical person makes in an hour.
      Do you make more than $60/hour? If you do, then you have an excuse. If you don't...

    • @GabeNewellDFTBA
      @GabeNewellDFTBA 9 років тому +4

      seigeengine If you mail 60 letters per hour, then this would be a problem. But no one does that. Stamps are less that $0.30 where I live.

    • @Hobypyrocom
      @Hobypyrocom 9 років тому +3

      the thing is that the electricity that you will waste with the microwave costs more than buying a new stamp :)

    • @seigeengine
      @seigeengine 9 років тому +4

      Gabe Newell Then it's $36/hour.
      And Hobypyrocom the amount of electricity used by a microwave in this is less than a tenth of a cent.

    • @GabeNewellDFTBA
      @GabeNewellDFTBA 9 років тому

      seigeengine You're not accounting on the fact that the average person isn't constantly sending letters.

    Love your website. but there is a better way for corn on cob. No need to husk. Peel off the outer couple sheaths on the outside of unopened ear of corn. Run under cool water and put entire thing in microwave. Cook 2-3 minutes depending on size of ear. Remove and put on cutting board. With a larger knife cut off the bottom of the ear. Now peel back the husk from bottom to top. all or most all the hair will easily come right off with the husk. Ready to eat. This way you can husk as you need and waste nothing.

    You don't need the dish soap or the lemon juice. The HEAT in the microwave will kill off the germs. And steam from just water will loosen up the crud on walls of the microwave just fine.

    It may be sacrilege to some folks, but my favorite way to make bacon is in the microwave. It comes out crispy and a lot less greasy. I haven't tried the inverted bowl trick (I usually just put the bacon in-between two layers of paper towel), but I'm gonna try it today.
