    In the summer of 1988, I was 24 years old and worked at The Le Park Hotel in Los Angeles as an operator. Phyllis stayed there for a few days and I saw her a few times. I called her room to give her messages and told her what a big fan hers I was. She asked my name and stopped at the front desk on her way to an engagement. She gave me an autographed photo. I couldn’t believe how tall she was. I’m 5”11 and she was taller than I was. Very down to earth and beautiful woman

      No he didn't. Y'all gotta stop with this shit. The woman had MENTAL ILLNESS. Just slandering someone's name is pathetic. Phyllis had extreme bipolar disorder and would stop taking her medication. That's where all those 'highs and lows' she spoke of came from. Black people love to blame everything but the most basic outcomes when stuff like this happens. She had been suicidal for a long time and her mental demons got the best of her. It's tragic, but you do no favors turning that in to some conspiracy that a record mogul had her killed. That's ridiculous.

    Not to be mean, but ironically, the "industry" took out both her and Whitney Houston by the same means. They both died by "suicide" 😢. They both were taken out by evil spirits 😢. I've had those spirits before so I know, and recognize it. But, here's the thing, I was saved (literally) by the hands of the Lord!. I absolutely loved her! Her music was so beautifully done! I became a fan from day one, saw her many times, evolve into a beautiful Queen. What bothers me more than anything about Phyllis Hyman, is how today, her music is not played, but her death is the focus! Never believed what we were told, because of her strong dynamic personality. Typically, these type of individuals don’t kill themselves.😞Rest in complete Power🖤❤️

    I was fortunate enough to see Philis perform once or twice. She was apart of a line up but not really my main attraction because as you mentioned, her music just was not what was hot. I remember thinkinghow tall and imposing her presence was for a women. But what was remember most was her ability to whistle so melodically. She might have been the best whistler I have ever heard.

Same might be said for Donnie and Amy. But I am a funky groove kind of dude. I am not really into slow and sad singers. If I had to reach back I would say Michael Henderson, Alisha Myers and Switch were on my low key list.

    Phyllis Hyman and Angela Bofill … Beautiful Tall Intelligent Talented Songstress … and nah Phyliss didn’t commit suicide. Neither did Prince . Coincidentally Nipsey and Prince both met their demise after signing with JayZ the warlock .

    • @michaellane486
      @michaellane486 Рік тому +2

      BINGO! Jay was trying to get MORE for the deal that Prince signed with (I forget the name of the "ARTIST-OWNED" collective). He was ONLY allowing for either 1 song or 1 album BUT the greedy warlock tried to convince the courts & estate that Prince was signing MORE over. Well we see that Jay Z lost & they did NOT fall for it. Notice how the weekend of Prince's death they ( Jay & Bey) did a short video which posted either at the beginning or end of her world video premiere of her song "Lemonade". In short video there was a wooden hitch attached to horse with a driver sitting in his seat & the back of the hitch was missing. There was purple plastic covering a coffin ( not clearly visible) NOT a casket. It was assumed to be that of Prince since he had just died on Thursday & the video premiere of "Lemonade" was Saturday night during SNL. I was out of state & had returned from an event to the hotel I was staying in. I was flipping between SNL & the video premier. Notice that the PUBLIC did NOT even find out that Prince was allegedly cremated until the weekend was over. At 1st I though it to be a sign of respect as both Beyonce's family roots are from Louisiana as Prince's family was too. It was well afterwards when I heard the chatter of the STEAL of Prince's music by Jay Z that I saw the FAKE respect as shade & a diss.

    TY Jay. I been waiting on this video. Good eye on the icon for Arista. Too bad that C.Devil bought out Buddah Records as she was ENSNARED by her 1st contract simply because the label was bought out. She basically SELF-DESTRUCTED just like Whitney did. You got VERY KEEN ears. One can CLEARLY hear the reverse of her thanking him...SMDH. I never felt that her death was any "accident". By her own admission to the person at the beginning of video "EXTREME highs & lows" basically sounds like Bipolar Disorder; however, part of me STILL does not believe that SHE took her own life. C.Devil gets some of THE BEST & MOST TALENTED female singers/artists...Phyllis, Angela Bofill & Whitney. He did ALL of them wrong too. I heard last week (from a comment read) that Angela "self-deleted". Not sure if true or rumor. I greatly enjoyed the music of all 3 ladies. Hopefully Phyllis & Whitney are at rest finally.

    Come on bro that is not true! Phyllis as not a Satan Worshiper! I met the woman back in 1978 when I was just 14 years old. Because my zodiac sign is Cancer she told me she was too and called me her baby brother. For some reason she was fond of me. I was a beginning Bassist working at the production company where she was visiting my boss who was the owner. She would talk to me & tell me things like in this business be 10% music and 90% business, watch my money, and don't sign a contract without my own lawyer that I chose and not one the record label suggested.
    She did have a bit of a wild side to her but it was all fun with Phyll. I began to love her and felt close with her this little boy who she thought worth her time to take out and teach me the things she did.
    Phyll did have her love interest in a ball of confusion to say. Over the years getting to know her better I learned she went both ways. And I strongly believer her depression had something to do with not having the right man and woman in her life simultaneously. I miss Phyll so very much she was mad fun to talk to and she did keep in touch with me until I was about 20-21 was the last time we talked. RIP Phyll. I miss you dearly.

      He was wrong about many things! Let me just say Phyllis was a strong, powerhouse entertainer, who couldn’t be controlled, so she had to be eliminated! People that knew her and her music never believed the lying ass media, and their take on her death and her career! They never paid one bit of attention to her, when her career was taking off, but had everything to say when she died! Phyllis was special, and she cared deeply about her people and assuring their success. With that mentality alone, it sealed her demise. I’m still angry that our ppl don’t see this s#@& for what it is! They keep getting away with destroying our ppl, simply because we listen to them and their opinions, without thinking, maybe they aren’t telling the truth!

      Phyllis Hyman performed a concert for my High School in the spring of 94 .. I was part of the student committee that welcomed her and was responsible for showing her to her dressing room ect and making sure she was comfortable .. It was a pretty weird experience I must say.. she was EXTREMELY rude to us 17 and 18 year old kids .. very rude and disrespectful.. she had many demands .. I remember she demanded all sorts of food to be delivered to her dressing room .. I don’t remember exactly how many but around 20 pizzas , crazy amounts of chicken wings cookies and donuts .. and the majority of the food went untouched .. it was obvious she didn’t want to be there and just wanted to make the experience uncomfortable for everyone ..

    I can appreciate this video to an extent. I couldn’t get with the reversal of the song theory, but the other content was good. I love her music and listen to it to this day. The music industry (entertainment in general), uses our talents until they move on to the next “it” thing. Sadly, many turned to drugs and alcohol to cope with the pressure. She was a beautiful spitfire and I’m sure felt stifled and frustrated with the industry. I remember feeling overwhelmingly sad when I learned of her death. Continued love and appreciation for her musical and theatrical talent and the legacy she left behind.
