Radio and SIM is always the first thing I tell people to get. If they decide they don't like it, the can always sell the radio, and no big loss. A SIM is always ready to fly, no batteries to charge, no worrying about crashing, weather does not matter. There are many to choose from depending on your flying style and how good of a computer you have, but Velocidrone is #1. It has the best physics and feel, the best online community and Discord, and there is a ton of quads and scenes to fly. I am just coming up on my 4th year in FPV, and just hit 1000 hours in Velocidrone. Its the only SIM I use anymore.
Yup, and getting a quality radio means you can absolutely resell it whereas if you get a crappy one you're stuck with it and the only thing that will accept it is the trash can. Velocidrone is amazing for sure, I use it to practice all the time even to this day!
how do you find new courses for velocidrone to play?
I've been using it a few weeks but the search function and finding singleplayer courses is confusing.
This is a good idea for a video. I'm going to add it to my queue and make it. Might take a couple weeks cause I've got some I'm working on but I"ll get it made for you!@@C0RT1Z
@@volaertus awesome. I subbed! I didnt realize but i guess over the last couple weeks I’ve watched several of your videos. You deserve more cred!
eyy thanks I'm just starting out so hopefully as my videos get better I can grow my channel! @@C0RT1Z
Your eyes and the things you’re saying. Love your sense of humor.
It's the classic "I'm dead inside" Aubrey plaza look hahahahaha
Very entertaining video. Keep it up man. Subbed!
glad you enjoyed it. I really appreciate the feedback and sub. Thank you!
in 2018 good analog goggles $180, radio & receiver $150, drone $250 total entry ~$580 vs 2023 cheapest goggles analogs all sold out (maybe a garbage box emachine in stock tho best for nano drone), same old analog goggles but with amoled $500, skyzone hd $500 or dji fpv $600, drone $400 or $600, tx16s with receiver $350 (can skimp on this) total now = entry price $1500, $1700, $2000
yep, it really, really sucks BUT the prices in other things have skyrocketed too. Just look at cars, homes, and other things. It is so sad what is happening to our purchasing power. Hopefully as more parts of FPV become open source we can bring down costs through innovation. I know once my store grows I will be heavily pushing for driving costs down in multiple ways. Lots of fun things ahead!
New fpv youtuber 🎉
are you saying i'm new or you're new? Or are we both new? haha
Actually good video. I'm just starting my way in fpv so yea, thanks!
thanks, hope it was helpful!
Absolutly love it
thanks, hope it was helpful!
radio+sim, spend a week or two.
then the goggles and a MicroWhoop. I would suggest a walksnail 1s HD V2 system. and either the recon goggles or the dominator, the new X googles are going to be a glitchy mess for months.
millions of 750mah 1s battery they are cheap and partially safe... to 5 mins on a good whoop, you just have to make you race course the size of your little body. regulation gates are 19"x19".
TL:DR, analog micro whoop (65 or 75mm), the walksnail scout (analog) goggles, radiomaster pocket. all on a good day would cost around 400-450 ish. add in a charger and some 750mah 1s and you could be whooping all winter in your house and backyard.
walksnail's VTX are bullet proof. I made a video where I took a wasp nest down with my drone and even after the drone caught fire I just put a new stack in it and the walksnail VTX was solid
The deadpan humor absolutely smashes. Very informative and funny! 😂 👍
Hahaha glad you enjoyed it
Very well done! Great video. I am about a year and 10k into the hobby. So many of the lessons you are sharing I learned at my own expense, and it can get crazy. New Sub...
you only have to spend 2 thousand more until you figure it out :)
Very helpful - thank you! I'm only thinking about FPV and starting out with a sim.
when you can do some basic freestyle in the sim, you are ready to start over again with the basics in real life. Don't get too confident when you fly the first time. Velocidrone physics are not very accurate :)
not wrong, nor is tryp ,keep up the helpful vids, good to see.the old drone training videos are verry helpful too!.my tv remotes busted double clkiks anywayGL!

Fpv in abandoned buildings demands elrs for signal strength.
Does your radio support elrs?
Not sure what circumstances tbs is superior, but that’s another choice to make early on.
Fly over grass and get a demibot frame to switch all your bnf stuff onto it.. and crashing won't hurt it 19 out of 20 times
yup, that's my go-to freestyle frame. I took a wasp nest down with it and made a video out of it. It even caught fire and I just rebuilt it and i still fly it to this day hahaha
Oh man, wow ! I have been flying FPV for more than 8 years now, .... so i KNOW everything you say is spot on ! Yeah, "old style" so learned the hard way. If i would have to advise a total beginner at the moment i would refer him to this video. Yep, that's right no Bardwell, Rotor Riot, etc. but THIS ! Maybe it is because we just share the same odd "dry" humor but i loved every second of this clip. Great !!
it's our duty to make it easier for the next person in line!
Hey that means a lot thank you! I hope I can live up to this standard! haha
You said it perfectly to the T
Eyy thanks for the feedback hope it helped or made you get at least 1 laugh in or both hahah
Dude, you are funny as hell man! Keep up your work! Seriously great content! That "Failsafe that like button" had me LOL'in. That's clever. Cheers dude!
hahahah thanks! Glad it was entertaining and hopefully you managed to get some wrinkles on that smooth fpv brain
@@volaertus 😂keep up the awesome work man!
I built my first drone from scratch(I like a challenge) and it went great I still have it....then I got a new redio(just for drones) so my airplane radio doesn't have a module on kt when I fly my 3d planes.... elrs is the hardest part to Learn. I've heard crossfire is way easier but alot more money and never in stock
I spy, with my little eye, a masochist! HAH just kidding, that's awesome. I've got an ELRS video in the queue, it has become super super easy recently. Hope I can convey how easy it is now to stop people who shy away from it
Runsnail 😂 would go good with there new goggles X can’t wait I’m so ready to leave anlog
analog is still fun, but like playing nintendo 64 on an old fat TV kinda fun. Only fun when you feeling nostalgic hahaha. Otherwise, I'll take my PS5 and a 85 inch 4k TV baby
omg - 😊 such fun; great recap of my most recent journey into FPV - i'm hoping not to become a statistic 😊 finally found a local Friend-Pal-Visual hobbyist 🎉 who started his journey a year ahead of me it appears - now to get this Boxer to Arm, darn it.. 😊
don't become a statistic!!! It's always darkest just before the light. One day things will just click and then you will just have to maintain your knowledge because the massive initial bunch of crap will be forever (at least until you die I guess) relevant like soldering, electronics, motors, etc
I have dji but im probably going to go to walksnail after the disapointment of O3. 1s is definitely the indoor choice youve got that and jesus the batteries suck but they are so fun
we will welcome you with open arms my fellow snailperson
why you are disappointed in O3?
Def radio and Sim and at least 30/40 hours of Sim time before you sky a quad very cool content
hey thanks for the feedback. 30/40 hours is actually really spot on. It takes just a few hours to learn how to take off. It took me like 3 hours to be able to take off and get back to the ground deliberately because I definitely got back to the ground by crashing a lot haha
@@volaertus absolutely brother I think about 30 hrs was my threshold as well you can really start seeing progress at first you wanna give up especially racing gates lol but it's crazy it's like one day it all falls into place then the real addiction starts lol im like you ive got hd analog and DJI have a rocking evening brother
yup, once i had them left turns locked in it was game on unless i had to turn right hahahaha Have a good night and thanks for watching@@LockJawFPV
And the technology part is the hardest part and learning the sticks I've been flying quads over 12 years FPV only a few months and nothing like it it's my life
best drug we have ever found/created
3:32 - Me building a tiny whoop from scratch as my first drone
masochist identified! hahaha
Damn I failsafe the like button.😂
hell yeah thank you for that!
If I could do it again, I'd buy the Radiomaster boxer first. 1W of built-in transmission power is unbeatable at that price.
Then everything else...
I wouldn't go smaller than 3 inches for my first build, I definitely wouldn't buy a whoop, and most importantly - I'd still build my first quad.
It's nerf or nothin. How are you going to fix a quad you didn't build? Just build it.
very true, radiomaster is a solid choice for radios even for non-beginners
You should do a career option for this cause I would love to get drone work at some point
I actually have a shop and we do tech support too! volaertus.com
@@volaertus awesome idea! To broaden your horizon and customer base I notice rc planes are getting a lot of new people who want to do similar fpv set ups you could advertise to them as well
i,after learning a lot the tx16s would be awesome for planes!
@@tonyyimbo
We'll definitely consider them, thanks for the idea! @@tonyyimbo
i've been flying whoops and micros since march of this year and I haven't had this much fun sober in a long time! I dont really have the room to fly a 5" plus they terrify me.
They really do need tons of space. tons! I've been loving the 3.5 inch class, maybe you can give that a try
Fiat bucks? Ha! Good one! You're gonna need A LOT of those.
Walksnail vs. DJI is like Samsung vs. Apple. Large investment either way, and you're locked in with either choice. Choose wisely.
I agree buying a good radio first is smart. I started with a Spectrum radio, but that was before Radiomaster existed. I switched to FrSky when I discovered it, but today I'm all in on Radiomaster running EdgeTx. ELRS protocol is a great choice, but I prefer to buy the radio with multi-protocol built- in and run ELRS through an external module. The Ranger module, I believe, has more transmit power available than the built-in transmit module. Also, i fly a lot of fixed-wing and have a lot of old FrSky receivers.
need more fiat bucks every day! hahaha
Radiomaster and EdgeTX is like peanut butter and jelly!! I'm definitely a green bubble on people's phones if you know what I mean :)
this is so funny
thanks!! hope it was helpful a little at least
@@volaertus yes of course
Is that your chicken?
Yes, we had 8 but lost 6 to disease and predators this year. We lost the equivalent of thousands of eggs over their life span and some good friends so fast. Sucks
I keep birds, have 15 rn.@@volaertus
NICE, we're planning on getting more next year but we gotta build a bigger coop. Hoping to replenish to flock@@danielharris3827

So you mean don't create your own drone?
Not unless you really want to suffer before you ever get to enjoy the hobby. Not like you won't suffer if you buy a bind and fly, but it's much less suffering!
Yo is this entire video an ai created video? The computer jokes give it away
Thiccc salaries for drone pilots? 😂💁Only if you aren’t competing with talented fast twitch 15 year olds who have been flying rc for years.
