One of the biggest stand outs in God of War Ragnarok is the game's portrayal of Odin, the All-Father.
In this video, we are going to be deconstructing Odin’s character through the lens of personality psychology.

Credit to Richard Schiff for his portrayal of Odin.
If it wasn’t for the previous game constantly pointing out that Odin is a tyrant, you would easily fall for his ruse.
    Mimir said it best:
‘If he tells you snow is white, he’s lying’

Absolutely! Even though I knew he had to be a bad person, I even caught myself second guessing myself. Richard knocked it pout of the park

Odin is pretty damn scary as a character and person.
We've been told that Odin is manipulative, cunning and abusive and that he should not be trusted at all. Mimir and Freya especially makes that clear since they're personally been affected by him. Atreus rebels, goes to Asgard and see's odin thinking that he'll able to outsmart him.
When Atreus and us as an audience get to actually see him in person though, he's not what everyone told us he is. Odin shows himself as a laidback, easy going, reassuring, almost father like figure despite him telling Atreus that he doesn't have to see him as such.
We know he's bad but we can't help but be charmed by his facade. Odin know Atreus is alone and vulnerable at that moment of time and takes advantage of that. Hell he even let's him go back to his father, another part of his facade. Odin takes his time on his prey.

Honestly yeah it would have been fun to have Odin show up before we got all those stories and then the stories happen and have two separate endings depending on who you choose to side with.I will admit what we got was still cool but if pulled off correctly there would be alot of fun.

Man that's why I loved Odin he really was the perfect Machiavellian both mentally and politically. Like his use of humans to fight in ragnarok or the way he finds the best avenues to control others. Like how you mentioned, he constantly berates Thor, but acts like a kind grandfather to Thrud. Great writing from the team at Santa Monica. Made it that much more satisfying to shove Draupnir up his ass as soon as I saw a health bar.

This is so what I found insane about his character as during the game I caught myself thinking about how chill he was. I knew he was awful but i couldn't absolutely convince myself anymore, I just had to just keep repeating '' no, he's bad, he's evil '' in my head since I was too charmed by him to hate him as I did before!

I think the directors were set on making these Norse gods puny compared to their Greek counterparts. They only trying to make the drama more strong in the Norse arc and Kratos's redemtion arc. Its like they were set in mind when they were making the first 3, they were making like a demi-god becoming a god fighting a true god looks like and in Norse time they were like Gods have there own politics too. Some back room mafia deal type.
The real difference here is the Norse Gods can die literally, its in their fate and they also accepted that. But Greek gods are true invincible and immortal. Kratos changed the fact by having special weapons to kill the gods. Its also IRL too. Apart from that no comparison here stands solid cause the positions and perspective changed within the games. In Greek time the earth was Gaia but in Norse it was Odin who created the earth realm by killing his ancestor Ymir with his spear and build this world with Ymirs body parts.
IRL the Norse are not any joke. They are the literal embodiment of ruthlessness, brutality , calamity and war. Ofcourse the Greek people and their religion lasted verylong compared the Viking culture. With this mindset if they forward themselves to Egypt arc they need to make the Gods in them OP.

I keep telling people Through out his entire runtime of the game I had observed Odin, his manipulation, gaslighting, inability to admit wrong or take responsibility for his actions, his lack is sympathy and care for anything that doesn't please or yealed to him and I'm certain Odin is a psychopath or that the design/frame of his character is built on the principle of psychopathy, narcissists and psychopath are are Easley frustrated and have low tolerance for anything they can't control Ragnarok or no Ragnarok he would have always killed the giants for the Thier existance outside of his control is intolerable to him.

Odin is a nasty combination of these fictional villains:
    - Emperor Palpatine (Star Wars).
    - Sauron (Lord of the Rings).
    - Norman Osborn (Spectacular Spider-Man 2008).
    - Tony Soprano (The Sopranos).
    - Walter White (Breaking Bad).
    - Logan Roy (Succession).
    - Dutch van der Linde (Red Dead Redemption).
    - Handsome Jack (Borderlands 2).
    - Wilson Fisk (Marvel's Daredevil, Hawkeye, and Echo).
    - Carmine Falcone (The Batman 2022).
    - King Arthur Pendragon (Tales of Arcadia's Wizards).
    - Gabriel Agreste (Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir).
    - King Aldrich Leviathan (Disney's Amphibia).
    - Emperor Belos (Disney's The Owl House).
