If I were you, I would continue doing the maintenance myself! Your hair is gorgeous...they might mess them up! Too big of a risk.
So true. 18 months in. I had my microlocs installed as twists. The salon that did my twists sort of combined some locs which i understand since this was new to them (interlocking that is) and due to the price of retightening i began doing it myself. And i have to say i can complete my whole hair in judt three days. In the beginning it took me 2 weeks, then ten days then a week then 5 days then three days. So happy

Please be careful letting someone else do your hair. It is gorgeous....please understand that not everyone has the attention to detail that you do!!!!
I’m about to do my micro locs myself. My hair is 22” and I’m sure I’ll be installing them for a least a week or 2. I’m trying to stay under 350 (thinking about the retie) I’m doing them so I won’t have a ton of maintenance. My detangle time is outrageous on loose natural hair. I normally keep my hair in box braids so there’s no reason why I shouldn’t loc. thanks for your videos. You’ve inspired me to go on and do it.

I really get your joy & smile, sometimes I stare at my locs at the mirror for so long thinking 'I did this! This was so worthit!' I cant believe the growth! mine are almost sitting on my shoulder, feel so excitedddd!!! Can't wait for more growth but enjoying where its at right now. Most fulfilling journey! Esp when I remeber my early months, depair, dissatisfaction and all haha.
For those with baby locs, just have patience. it'll be totally worthit.
Your locs are beautiful! I love watching you since we are both affiliated with the military. It is hard to find someone to maintain your hair who cares just as much as you. That is why I went to locs as well. I still was hopeful you found someone though because I know you are busy. More blessings on your journey.

I bought more of those hair ties, this time in different colors from HEB (A popularTexas grocery store chain). I think they're made by Goody. They really come in handy for wash day braiding and banding.
FYI - I started my 12 year old's micro locs after I got my sisterlocks installed. We both love our hair. She has no regrets. We both really love your hair. Your locs are just an accessory to your beauty, Tay. Love ya gurrrl! Looking forward to seeing more of your journey.

As I watch your video, I am removing my diy microlocs. I just did not keep up with the maintenance in the back. I love your dedication. I fully plan to re-install but like you, I have a bit of OCD and did not like the bump between my retie and the previous retie (from waiting too long between reties). Your locs look better than some I've seen maintained by professionals. I have not decided if I will self-install again. I am setting-up some consultations to weigh my options.The challenge is that my hair is more than twice the length in my back now (with no plans to cut). I did two-strand twist and not interlocking to start and really love the look. I love the interlock look as well. How do you stay so disciplined? Girrrrrrl! I would continue to do my own hair like you have been doing, if you do not want to $#**t somebody that is🤣🤣! Most of these sisterlocticians them do not give a d@#n about parting, which really is the bottom line to maintaining healthy locks. All this borrowing hairs from neighbors is what thins locks at the base and subsequent breakage. And that sisterlocks clip tool is pure terror! It rips 2- 3 inches off a loc here and there, often, and I cant get my loctician to unmarry herself from that tool - for when she is doing my hair. I use her because she is the closest I have come to reasonable parting. The people who do their own hair have far more beautiful locs in my own opinion, I follow you and and Keke J, you guys are about parts! The results are incredible!
