Clip in would work better no? ahah
Van Aert being shut down by another rider for the second time this Tour is criminal
He still beat him for second also Demar who blocked Wout got relegated, same for Cav
Yeah but thats sprinting
@@laurenz323Shouldn’t sprinting be about who can squeeze the most power out of their tired legs, not who can squeeze wout into the barriers
@@laurenz323 I love these kinds of stupid idiotic comments. Its not sprinting its cheating and that's why the rider that did it got relegated :)
@@jalakereTotally true but I think Wout needs to reconsider his lines and go more towards the center.
Pogacar is the race favorite. Do not underestimate him.
He is IMO. This year Pogacar is on the best team, he has a 66 second lead, and he's better than Vimgegaard in the time trial.
Chris's encyclopedic knowledge here is *chef's kiss*. Cracking podcast everyone
Girmay does an excellent job of surfing the field, he doesn’t get hung up on having the perfect lead out, he uses his team to keep him close and safe then uses the best wheel he can follow to get him to HIS sprint point. Can you imagine in a few years when he is with a team with a perfect lead out ?
Agree 100%. His improvement in positioning has been notable over the past 3 years. I think he's become more patient and he's learned which wheels will take him the farthest for the least energy. And most of all, he a safe sprinter.
Nice T-shirt
You're looking well groomed today, mate. I love the shirt.
Fantastic beard, dude!
@@ElrocStone😅
really need this shirt in my life
Waiting for someone to turn up with a shirt covered in francis' face now 😂 bonus points for wearing it on an episode when he's back on
Yes, you are. Everyone who was ready to count Pog out yesterday is a muppet.
Reckon Girmay has been studying Top Class sprinters from track & field. Totally focused on being on full throttle, but relaxed as possible. No wasted movement, probably controls the breathing, to some point. Slick Central !
Hope this Covid resurgence
f # ks off & does one !
Like Police Chief Brody said in JAWS 2 "I ain't going through that sh # t again !"
Chris & "Sam Fender" dovetailing, great stuff :)
Cav was forced to swerve, if you watch slow motion replay. Guy in red stops pedalling after a full gas. Relegation unfair imo given that sudden situation.
You guys (and gal) are rocking it with your TdF coverage.
? WTH.... What new "sprint"... no different than any other sprint for the last 100 years of bike racing... The hyperbole BS is outstanding! If this is "coverage"... please spare me any more "rocking it" so called "coverage"
How can you underestimate the No1 rider in the world 😂
If Pogačar rides smart he'll win easily.
Exactly!! Johan Bryneel said if Tadej had better tactics, he would have already had 4 TDF wins..
Well ,Vingegaard is a nettet Tour rider whatever he says. But pog is the best one Day rider
@@erlinglaustsenebbesen3544All those who rode the Giro this year strongly disagree with your assessment made from the couch, mate…
@@erlinglaustsenebbesen3544 absolutely i mean tdf is the only multi day race that pogi won
@@LadyBird-n2t Not last year. There JV was too strong.
I think Sagan was the start of this style of sprinter.
Btw great job guys. Shoutout to Emily 🎉
These intros are getting me pumped!
This TdF coverage is excellent. And great to see the coverage of the Women's Giro at the end. Great job!
"There's a lot of . . . transfer of germs that happens when things are wet . . . um, I'm assuming it's that, I don't actually know." Eat your heart out, Louis Pasteur!
Yes hello, could we all just get a link to that shirt!
Yep.. got my attention as well..
I don't even care if there is a race or not, I could listen to you guys everyday!
Don’t think we are underestimating Pog or Jonas.
But we absolutely overestimated UAE and their Directors
The directors absolutely. Pogi is missing Allan Peiper
Agree with the directors, one could imagine them encouraging Pog and shouting "campionissio" out of the car. They need Cummings in the car
Let’s wait and see how things pan out for the upcoming mountain stages… as a Dane I still think pogi will win this year 😅 i do not think Jonas got the fitness for the long mountain stages compared to pogi even though its his strength
@@healthcarethoughtleadershipbiggest problem for Pogi is that Jonas arrived. Remove Jonas from the last three TDFs and what would you have? The Pogi show and zero discussions on nutrition or team strategy.
@@luiscolon921 eh maybe! Even without Jonas the strategy Visma has employed has been sound. They would’ve found another way to test him/his ego.
Bini's favourite 'sprint' is a little uphill! He said it.
Great show! Chris is probably the most likable guy in cycling UA-cam.
❤
I think we have a new Fluff Up of the Day on the Cavendish call 😉
huh? he moved a shite ton across another riders line. he should have penalised on his 35th stage win too
@@steinanderson9849 I was talking about Jimmi's call - 3:13 😂
@toadlguy hahaha that makes sense now!
G for the Hawaiian shirt
Wowwww,I love your analysis
I have watched Girmay over the past couple of years, he has slowly got better each year to where he is now.
He is such an impressive young man, not only on his bike, but off it as well where it matters just as much.
Chapeau to him.
A chill jersey tangent. Escape Collective’s race podcast does a classification for the rider closest to 1 hr back that’s over 1 hr
Chris got it spot on. Jonas is proving himself to be the better grand tour rider whereas pog is imo the best all out bike racer in the world right now. You can never count him out because of that, he’s so good at finding ways to win
Thanks for the chapters!
30 seconds in and I'm utterly distracted and befuddled by Chris's shirt. Too funny,
I don't think he even realized that Cav was relegated in today's stage.
On the idea that sometimes when you win one sprint, it leads to multiple others, not only did Phillipsen win most sprints last year, but in 2021, Cav won four stages WHEN HE WAS 36.
Love that intro
it was the best
I LOVE THIS SERIES
Roglig in France becomes the most unlucky guy on earth, it's something to admire...
Jonas (and Roglic) are very smart bike riders. I think they use their teams and their energy reserves better. Pog is still probably the best bike rider I've ever seen. He would be better if he was a little more careful with his energy.
Love seeing king BINI smashing it again 💪
I agree with u sis ,BINI WILL DO IT AGAIN👍👍👍🇪🇷🌿🇪🇷🌿💙🌿
Pogacar is NOT the underdog here. It depends on tactics. Vingegaard only squeaked a win yesterday because tactical mistakes by Pog, possibly missing food and bonking.
Remco is basically doing what Dumoulin did.
After a couple of injuries, Frustrations he was the most underestimated player in the tour , but he & the team worked so hard then insured the dream . Congratulation Girmay as well as IWC
Totally agree with what you guys are saying about Pogacar and Vingegaard. And every casual or hardcore fan of the Tour should be watching this video starting at 18:57 and REALLY listening to what you guys are saying in response to that person's comment or question. I've been saying this since the first time Jonas won the Tour. Tadej is the more talented rider overall. Tadej is literally one of the best overall Road racers ever. Is top 5 or at the worst top 10 in the world at every single thing needed to win in bike racing. But... Jonas is THE BEST of his time, possibly ever, at the Tour de France, how the stages are setup, and the high altitude long steep climbs of the Tour. NOBODY is as good as he is in the long Mtn stages. And that is where the Tour is won or lost. So even though Tadej is coming in to this Tour just CRUSHING every other race and in the best form of his life, Jonas is THE BEST climber of his time and maybe ever. And what's even more impressive, is that Jonas is clearly not at 100%. The crash almost killed him and took him away from training and racing for over 3 months!!! Then to see what he was able to accomplish yesterday is just insane. He has the heart of a champion and for sure is the favorite to win now. Great video guys!
Where can I order that Cav shirt from? oh ya keep up the great work, you are all AWESOME
Love Chris...more please....
Seems there needs to be some qualifiers added to the safety cut-off distance. Minimum group size at time of incident, perhaps (like 15% of the total peloton)? I'd say they could judge based on if the incident was reasonably unavoidable, but there's too much grey area around "reasonably". Certainly doesn't seem right to be in a group of two, have a self-inflicted crash, and not lose any time to the guy in front, especially when we're talking about a top GC contender pushing to consolidate his ranking.
Yes, very interesting idea. I do remember at least two times Roglic came down seriously due to road issues, that not have been propper secured by Le Tour / road security. It is not to blame Roglic or other riders for the faults of the organization or the UCI but de facto it is like that. The same in the sprints: if deviation is finally relegated, the hampered rider still suffers of the deviation and mostly looses his/her fair chance to win. Like it happend to WvA today again. The relegation only does not cover the time (and energy) loss of the deviated. This is unfair. There should be something more/other to prohibit deviations or even better to compensate the deviated rider.
Last year Tadej won Tourmalet and everybody started saying there comes the counter-punch - Tadej will win this TDF. Then we saw what happened. We never know what they are feeling. One thing from strava is that the first week, Pogi was AVERAGING 1600 - 2200 calories per race, now he is averaging 4000. The tiredness is kicking in.
Tadej will win I’m percent certainty about it… he will ride away from Jonas on the next two mountain stages and take 4-5 mins
Didn't one of Cade's cast predicted that Bini would win, at least, THREE stages?
You messed up the question. It was why is everyone saying JV can ride into form. But last year Pog was going to get fatigued from lack of training.
I think Pogacar could win this year TDF but he ride more like he try to entertain the crowd rather than actually win it. His spectacular attacks are just waste of energy in fight with someone like Vingegaard. At some point he might just have crisis, that will make him loose plenty of time and the whole race. From the spctator perspective I like Pogacar, because he at least make this race fun to watch. No matter if he win or loose people will like him and he will be great cyclist anyway.
Pogi could have won stage 11 if he attacked on the final climb instead I think. Because there was no way Jonas was gonna attack first.
Definitely appreciate the gentle correction of Jonas being the best stage racer, not just a TDF merchant. He wins way too much (and too resoundlingly) throughout the year to say he's just the best "TDF rider."
We salute Eritrean Biniam Girmay, the new sprint boss 🔥🇪🇷
Love the bad attitude intro! 🤣
Remco is gonna be a bag of dust in the 3rd week
Bini will be nice in green, and Green in Nice!
Can we keep Chris around every day please?
I would argue that Sagan was a similar type of sprinter to Girmay.
Great review of the Tour, etc. everyone is underestimating Pogi! His team is by far the strongest team at the tour! I believe Pog and UAE are going to go on the defense and then take time when they can! Plus Jonas will come apart in week three, from the lack of foundational training. 🍺😄
Nice editing, Emily
Abra is going for the KOM points tomorrow for sure. 🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴
Cavendish relegated!!
Don’t know what finish you guys were watching… Cav almost KILLED Coquard with that CRAZY, DANGEROUS swerve… that was insane… well deserved relegation!
Well done commissaires!👏🏾
Agreed! Cav has been getting away with dangerous riding forever...
@@LadyBird-n2t 100%
Mclay was sitting straight up and stopped pedaling at 70 km/h… The swerve from Cav was a reaction to that. Mclay should have been relegated. Could have ended in a shitshow.
@@vozzen is there a rule about deviating your speed? i only know the one about deviating your line.....
@@steinanderson9849 I think they were told explicity not to do that and there is penalties for actions that endanger other riders
On the topic of Roglic being give the same time as Evenepoel on the previous stage during the crash, the real question is why the race organizers had the 3k rule in effect for what was essentially a primarily uphill finish? The only justification that I could see is that there was the downhill run, where Roglic crash, that directly preceded the short uphill drag into the finish. Perhaps the organizers were anticipating a large group hitting that section at the same time and wanted to 'protect' the GC riders if that was indeed a large group finish?
it was announced during the race, so the best guess is it was because of the weather and the road being slick
Nice analysis! Philipsen without MVDP seems a bit confused, he was on the left by himself (I mean no one was there) and he wasted lot of energy by the time he got same line to the other sprinter.
thanks for timestamping the segments...
Bini was out of the picture at the flamme rouge, it was a great lead out from Teunissen to get him in position and then the perfect finish from Girmay
Watch it again, the way he moved to the front would make Sagan himself proud. That was a masterclass in navigating the front group.
Remco also lost 20+ minutes in the Vuelta in one stage last year in the 2nd or 3rd week. He was leaps and bounds in teh lead up to that point....hmmmm. Maybe, maybe not.
However - his main focus that season was the world championship TT and he totally won that one. Frankly put he had too much weight going into Vuelta and not enough training in the altitudes, his form was not just good enough for 3 weeks.
Not morkof 🤣- Mørkøv
tim declercq Would win the Hawaiian shirt every time, like he’s just there trucking along the pelaton!
Err guys...the red numbers are for the most combative rider, not the lantern rouge 😅
The road furniture was not marked or marshaled. It's the race organisers fault!. Roglic should be given the same time as the finishing Peloton.
Just gonna be pleasent to see Vingegaard in yellow arriving in Nice
Too bad it won’t happen 😂
give us the 'le juice' jersey!
Remco needs to sort out his downhill skills, it holds him back
Vingegaard gets the special jumbo gear so he will be fine
clip in MFKs
thb i still wonder how the teams can be all in on the marginal gains thing but then don't do everything possible to protect their riders from any illness (especially at a Grandtour with no weakness possible for 3 weeks straight through). Would have expected staff with masks and teams carrying airfilters everywhere Just like their mattresses for the riders but obviously they still have space for optimization in this part of grandtour-cycling 😅
I sure don’t enve Total Energies!
Last 5k, im going down next to the fastest rider i can find nearby 😂
Yesterday: Is Pogacar literally throwing?
Today: pogacar is literally god.
Και όπως έλεγε και ένα αγγλικό πανκ συγκρότημα τη δεκαετία του '80
"Well this land is our own, the freedom to roam
Is the single demand that we make
To live as we choose, to win or to lose
Our birthright to freedom shall stay
We want the right to ride
Let the rider decide"
Jimmy, give it up. Jonas is the most boring rider I’ve ever seen. No spark. No excitement. Total vanilla. Tadej is the most thrilling rider to come along since a juiced up Lance Armstrong.
Watching Jonas ride is like watching paint dry... don't like the guy at all.. cannot believe a word that comes out of his mount... he said at the beginning.. oh I am just so happy to be able to start... and now? And Wout...so much pain today.. constantly at the medic car.. and then he almost win the sprint... bunch of liars.. and don't come with tactics.. this is just being g very dishonest and bad characters imo..
WYM? Jonas closing that gap yesterday was absolutely THRILLING. And then holding on at the sprint finish??? Not sure what more you want.
Is the guy with the one white one black shoe the guy with the upside down 13 number?
Raw Glitch has a thing for the Flaw!
Jimmy, get yourself a bottle of Madiran, you won't regret it!!
At the absolute top level everything is won on the margins independent of sport. Not being able to train for a while is that margin.
It becomes cool to be Eritrean in cycling world.
The crash rule should be same time if you finish in the same group
Who crashes the most out of the GC contenders? Primoz or Geraint?
The person who wrote in about Pogacar and double-standards is actually right. In the sense that it clearly shows people will always find excuses for Pogacar no matter what. Last year the excuse was that he didn't have the best preparations and Jonas had the better team in the mountains. This year when Jonas had an even worse preparation, and a worse mountains team..... new excuses will have to be made up.
Let's see what the new excuses will be.
I completely agree with you but tbh I don’t think Jonas will win this year even tho he have shown really good signs!!!
people just like drama. the more a story is dramatic the more they will support for it to happen. Jonas wining is in this case some example for this.
tp won't win any sprints on those 165mm cranks (or his whole current set up imo). i don't think jv will win the tour either, not this year.
I blame Jimmy and Francis for TotalEnergies getting their bikes nicked. The thieves clearly watched the video of them drooling all over the ENVE bikes in their TdF Bikes Review…🚓
I don't want to see smooth sprinters. I want to see that they are putting everything into it a la the nodding donkey Milan or going back some years Abdujaparov.
The 2 relegations were well deserved today.
There’s good reason for people to hate the Merckx comparisons…
Pogacar is most comparable to Hinault, Merckx is incomparable.
Cavdog t-shirt, yeah?
Tomorrow is gonna be a roglic break, They’re gonna do a 2022 stage 7 trick and keep roglic in at the top 4. One can hope, but definitely a 70% break away chance and if the peloton’s not gonna be lazy.
Pogi is being underestimated 100%. First, the final time trial is close to where he lives. He will have done many recon rides on the course on his TT-bike. In last years TT, one of the justifications that Jonas was able to gain so much time in the TT was that Pogi was not able to really do recon rides on the course due to his injury. Second, it was said that one of the strategies by Visma last year was to make the race extremely hard for Pogi right from the start, because they knew that it was impossible for him to get enough training in to raise his training stress scores to his usual level and hence they would eventually wear him out. This year it seems that UAE are going with the same strategy. Don't be surprised if Jonas suddenly cracks.
Also calling Jonas the better stage racer is just not backed up by their results. Tardej also has two Tour wins. In addition, he won the Giro. He has more wins in 1 week stage races. Further, he won many more individual stages in those races. Don't forget he is two years younger as well. Potentially his best years are still to come.
Testing for Covid in the peloton is kinda garbage. Let them ride if they want to.
Aaaaand Cavendish has been hit with a penalty
I’ve been thinking about this, for me unless Jonas attacks hard in the mountains. Pogi will win this tour. Theres no other way. Jonas has no team to attack pog.
Or we will see role reversal and they will use Almeida to attack Jonas over and over like they did to pog.
Either way it’s going to be exciting.
I don't agree Jonas is the best TDF rider.. his tactics might be the best.. nut NO WAY is he better than Pogi. Johan Bruyneel said that Pogi would have already won the TDF 4 times if he had better tactics...
Maybe Pog wins 2022 TDF with better tactics (if you want to ignore the fact that he heat up and lost time on a climb, don't know how much tactics would help with the heat) but 2023 he flat out got beat by Jonas, blew up on a mountain stage and lost a lot of time. Also, "so and so said a b c" isn't a strong argument. Please go learn your logical fallacies, in particular the appeal to authority fallacy
