Wow wow wow. The review I have been waiting for. Today I went to try it out at my local store, and pulled the trigger. Really the best for its price range ❤
Excellent video and audio quality of your review for 99% of the footage! Congrats! Using an excellent Leica for video pays off. I wish all audio gear reviewers would be that considerate and have stopped shooting themselves in a foot with poor video and audio quality clips they upload. Still, can you, please write just a bit more in your "Shot on" section? Abbreviations help only those who know better, you see.
Bro! I don't know which is better, your review or the visuals of your video! I hate and love watching this as I have my DX-180 and have so much envy! lol! Great job man.
The best flagship DAP is actually still the Sony WM1ZM2 (gold brick) not just because of the sound but also it has some of the longest battery life out there. Most of the DAP have some sort of standby battery drain but for Sony's if I left it at for example 70% and not use it for 2 weeks the battery will still be at 70% when I switched on.
Hi Andy, I have the Dx180 and some flaws. Sometimes the display no longer wakes up and I have to shut down and restart the system. The battery lasts 6 hours (Tidal and FiiO FT5 headphones) Tidal has titles in Dolby, which the Dx 180 can't do either. I still have the dongle Dc07pro. This one almost sounds better and has more setting options. I hope the DX340 is more stable.

Andy, thank you for the review, the player is wonderful, it's nice to dream), I won't buy one for myself, my option is a dongle with DX340 sound)) so please tell me which one to pay attention to, I'm sure you know)
The closest one would be iBasso DC07Pro (80% of what DX340 offers). DX340 is like combining the very best of DC07Pro, DC-Elite and ONIX Alpha Xi into a single package
Thanks for the as always solid review. I currently have an Ibasso DX180 as a source and a Fiio Q15 as a Dac-amp and a Hifiman Arya Stealth and I think it is a very solid setup for the price as I can use the small dx180 separately for mobile use and the complete set with the Q15 in desktop mode. Could you please compare the Q15 and DX340 in terms of pure sound quality? Do you think it would be an improvement to change the Q15 to the DX340?
Q15 is notably warmer sounding with that classic flagship AKM smooth dense timbre. DX340 is flatter neutral throughout the entire frequency range and more transparent too, while being as rich sounding as the more Mids centric Q15. Staging on DX340 is audibly wider compared to the more frontal approach of Q15
@AndyAudioVault Thank you very much for your answer. Your friendly interaction with viewers is one of the important values of your channel. I really appreciate it.
Great video Andy ! I still have some questions, though: - vs DX260 does it have the same sound “signature”, only better ? (I found the bass on DX260 kind of shallow as opposed to Hiby or Shanling, which seems to extend much deeper) - did you encountered any issues with it such as: - battery not indicating the correct level - troubles connecting to WiFi - loose screws or movement inside - any QC problems in general
Bass on DX260 is not shallow, that's what neutral, accurate and uncolored should sound like, no flavoring whatsoever, and the extensions of DX260 can easily rivals desktop DAC Amps really deep. Prior to DX349 arrival, I have used DX260 very regularly and I am not exactly gentle, but I have never encountered any if the issues you mentioned
Great review. Thank you for doing this! For someone who is planning on prinarily using IEMS, would you still recommend the DX340 over the DX260 and the Cayin N6iii?
Not sure about that, from what I can see DX340 is already pushing the absolute limit of possible quality from a DAP. A MAX version would need to be super special to exist, and will likely to offer something different rather than something better

The iBasso DX340 is my next DAP. I have FiiO M17 and Astell&Kern KANN ULTRA. At first I liked the sound of the FiiO M17 better and now I think KANN ULTRA sound is slightly better. With the FiiO FA19 IEMs both DAPs have Powerfull Bass so I'm keen to see if the iBasso DX340 sounds better. At time of writing out of stock in UK. Question "which is heaviest FiiO M17 or iBasso DX340? Fiio M17 is a brick. The build of the DX340 looks better and we can remove the batter which as far as I know not many other DAPs manufacturers have implemented.
Hi Andy, I wanted to ask, besides the obvious differences between this ibasso dx340 and the xduoo xd05t (form factor, warm vs neutral etc) which do you think has better sound? Resolution, extension, soundstage, etc. I rarely see comparisons between dac/amps and daps so I wanted your thoughts on this. Thanks.
It's not always about which one better over the other. Both DX340 and XD05T I loved equally for what they deliver differently, especially how mind-blowingy amazing both are with SIVGA Nightingale and HiFiMan Arya Unveiled/Sennheiser HD600. With DX340 I get reference grade transparency, accuracy and dynamics, rich sounding while at it, with XD05T I get more of "warmer" immersive timbre coloration that's only possible with tubes. So I love both equally depending on my moods
@AndyAudioVault I lost my internet connection for a few days, but thank you very much for replying. I guess, since I can't afford more than one dap/dac, I'm always trying to see which is best to buy it and be done with it for the next 5 or more years or until sound quality improves in a serious and meaningful way (no 3 to 5% better nor crazy diminishing returns), but in the end, as you say, it's not always which is better but just a matter of preference. I kinda already knew that but I guess I never decide on one over another because of FOMO, but I trust your reviews so, I'll stop debating every tiny thing and go for one of the daps you recently talked about 😄. Thanks for helping out. God bless you Andy!
Hello Andy, this is a question about the hiby r4. I just bought it and have been using it for a few months with 4.4. Today I tried connecting it to 3.5 for the first time and there is no sound. Is it a mechanical problem or a settings problem???
@rajZ772 I think that very much depends on what kind of music you listen to and how do you prefer it to sound. Unfortunately, there is no ultimate combo that works with everything, but you can get a very good and clean source such as this series of iBasso (DX180 / DX260 / DX340 / DC Elite) and pair it with cleaner or warmer IEM or tube dongles as you prefer
How the soundstage is compared to the DX180? I tried the little one with my Arya Organic. It's detailed enough but it's less punchy than my desktop Hifiman Serenade and above all it's a lot less wide in soundstage. If the DX 340 is much better in this regard i would by it and send back the DX 180. Thanks a lot!
Soundstage on DX340 is a bit more open and wider than DX180, that's what I am hearing when used with my many headphones. But is it a match to Serenade? I have no idea as I don't have Serenade to compare with
Hi andy Just need your opinion on this, if i already have the kann ultra and planning to buy the dc elite, will it improve the sound quality more or the kann ultra is better than the dc elite?
If you already have Kann Ultra and you plan to get DC-Elite and attach it to the Kann, then what you will be hearing is purely DC-Elite and has nothing to do with Kann Ultra anymore. The entire audio processing will always be done on anything you attach to it as external USB, your DAP will only serve as source transport and have no influence on playback quality. Which means that DC-Elite will be perform equally great if you attach it to any USB 2.0 PD and above Android devices that can do Bitperfect/USB Exclusive mode, you don't need Kann Ultra to do that. The same rule applies to practically all USB powered dongles
If you specifically need to boost Bass, get iFi GO Bar or xDuoo XD05T, both of which offers special mode to boost Bass. Otherwise most DAC/Amps dongles are tuned to be as neutral and non colored and you get your Bass from the IEMs or Headphones
Do you know if there is lag when connected via the bluetooth receiver mode? Would it be possible to connect it to my tv or pc and watch content without much latency?
Using LDAC I have not experienced any lag streamed from my phone. But I honestly haven't tried connecting it to a TV and do content streaming via BT (which will likely use SBC instead and may be subjected to lag)
Just like DX260 and other transparent/neutral/accurate DAPs, both DX340 and DX260 does not add any sort of coloration or alteration to any of the sound frequencies including Mids, which means the vocals are transparent too - unless of course you tweak up the EQ.The vocals will now depends on how your listening equipment attached presents it. I have been using my DX340 on my travels all the way from Malaysia to Doha to Switzerland cross country and was able to place it in my jacket sleeve or my jeans pocket without any issues, but yes I will feel the 502gm weight but that's okay
@AndyAudioVault try to use UAPP player on DX260, you will be amazed how much soundstage depth and layering it adds where Mango has a limited soundstage depth and is more concentrated on width. Don't know why the stock player performs worse than third party apps, Poweramp is in the middle.
Hi, My Fiio Ka17 dongle is making a popping sound whenever a sound is played/stopped Even the smallest sound makes a pop. I was able to open a hidden menu in the Fiio control app which enabled me to change the streaming setting from "On when Needed" to " Always on" but the problem still remains. Could you have any idea what could be causing this pop sound?
Does this fatigue the highs like the ibasso dx180 or 260? I was fatigue of the dx180 and many others complain about the same with the dx260 as if that were the type of sound of ibasso
iBasso DX180, DX260 and DX340 and all other iBasso high end dongles like DC-Elite, DC07Pro etc shares the same DNA when it comes to sound, highly extended, neutral, transparent and accurate - which means that the high frequency of all of them would appear bright especially to those who are sensitive to treble. But that's the nature of high end exceedingly resolving DAC/Amps, you will get the same sort of presentation even from stuffs like BURSON Audio Playmate 2 on V6/V7 Opamps, etc. If you have concerns with high frequency fatigue, then you should considered getting something which is outright warm like FiiO Q15 or iFi ZEN DAC2 series to iFi GO Bar - they would appear dampened with the highs (non fatiguing) but you will also lose some of the high end extensions and sparkle
I have dx320 and all amps. Then dx220max. 220max ist trough optic very slow! Sounds good for iems. Install apps is very dificult on 220max. Dx320 was for long time my dap, but cayin n6ii is for me much better! Smaller, cheap, quickly and sounds for my tastes better. Im moving away from ibasso. Also astell is VERY bad with apps and software! Even the new models. Is just a joke on the software side.
You can have as many Endgame as you wish. To me DX340 is peak performance for all in one solutions. Sony PCM D100 which I dearly love, I keep and use for that special one of a kind Sony sound not found anywhere else. Like I said, have as many Endgame as you want, the limit is what you set, not others

DX340 or Fiio M17????
I don't have M17 to compare with
@@AndyAudioVault What about you Opinion on the Fiio M15S is you have had any hands on with it? Im torn between three devices

Damn $1700 😅
For that price. You can buy a great guitar and make music. Nice video anyway.
6:50 :D
how can be endgame when I prefer DX300 sound to DX340. But yeah its nice sound though, just not detailed enough for me.
$1,700 US. Not a chance.
Too heavy to think of even buying it + that heavy price just dominates the idea of not going for it any time. 😅🤣
And if it's endgame, why'd you keep the Sony recorder?!
