RIP Burt Young. Bobby Bacala Sr was definitely the most ruthless older gangster on the show. All the others his age just complained about their health and didn't do much but Bobby was willing to do a hit with really harsh lung cancer. Imagine what he was like when he was younger
Don't need to imagine; he yelled at his sister to date a future boxing champion and worked as a butcher.....real gangster 😄😄😄😄...make bodies disappear!
When I first heard it I thought it was a sick line, but after seeing how much bacalla enjoyed it, i don't think it was brutal. Tony looked at bacalla sr's situation and told Jr bluntly, knowing that it would be better for him to die in the hit than die from the cancer in his house. Goes both ways when tony explains to Jr why he wants bacalla Sr do the hit. Knowing bacalla Sr has killed a lot of people before and he tells Jr that, but his delivery seems to fast and aggressive for him to think like that, like he's annoyed for having to sit down about something so useless in his eyes
I like how self-contained some of these storylines are. Bacala Sr was introduced and killed off in the same episode, but the story was told in its entirety. And he was very memorable.
And he did it while dying of cancer, coughing his lungs out. I can only imagine how terrifying he must’ve been in his youth. This guy is the one guest character who deserves his own movie.
Can’t believe he passed away two days ago he was one of the greatest old school actors and Paulie will always be remembered in Kensington, Port Richmond, Fishtown, Mayfair and all of Philly.
The way Burt Young was coughing sounded so authentic.. Especially when he was trying to smoke a cig after the hit. I've had pneumonia a few times and tried to continue smoking through it.. Stupid I know, but I tried anyway. That moan as he inhaled and exhaled was spot on as well. Damn it hurts just watching these scenes even tho I havent caught pneumonia in years.
More heart i might have to agree with that. The cold and calculated I wanna do a video on after the holidays. It's a close one. Both definitely not stupid like alot of people think.
@@ceerious Junior's ego influenced a lot of his bad decisions where Tony outplayed him on that true but Tony suffered at the hand of his own ego too, leading to his fate, and I can only speculate that both their ego only grew due to the fact that Tony never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
Old man Bacala wanted it. He said what my great grandfather said when he was 91 and I asked why he was still working (yeah he worked til he was 93 lol). But he said...In his broken English.."you sit on you ass and you gonna die".
What gets me is how cold the murder is. Bacala was the guys godfather really good friends with Sal's father watched the kid grow up and he still blew his brains out.
Sal attacked Vito's brother completely unprovoked, clubbed him in the head and caused him permanent brain damage. Even in this clip you catch him making a joke while he promises it'll never happen again. Wasn't cold enough for how fucked in the head he was.
None of that matters in that thing of theirs, they put it and their duties before everything and everyone else, even their own kids, parents, and wives!
I didn’t remember that Junior asked Tony to reconsider because Bobby asked him to, that was a really sweet thing to do. Even if he denied it because he was embarrassed Tony said no 😂
I just found out the one that Bobby Bacala Sr takes out Sally Intile is the same actor ( Brian Tarantina) who also played in Uncle Buck during the bowling scene. one of the lucky few that hugged a legend like John Candy who was from my hometown.
The look he gives his godson after saying how lucky it was he called is chilling. The Terminator in his prime must’ve been close to Anton Chigur in effectiveness and demeanor
@@BasePuma4007I think his character was supposed to be older, I was actually surprised Burt was only 83 when he passed. I figured he’d been in his 90s by now.
Bobby Baccala Sr, A real Terminator, 30 years clippin guys all they gave him was a crummy ex-lax watch that never kept good time anyway. A poster boy for non smoking, even got his own ad space.
Imagine what Bobby Bacala would had been capable of in his prime. Man could had taken out an entire building full of gangsters on his own with just a pistol and a pack of smokes. Hotline Miami style.
Tony was new as a boss in this situation and I think this is one of his F ups that actually went according to plan…until the extra body and slamming into a street sign
Cant imagine goons and murderers can just flip a switch becoming loving fathers, sons, cousins, husbands "after work", it's so disfunctional it's unreal
Tony was such a prick, Junior showed more humanity in the last few seconds of that clip than Tony ever did. He didn't have a selfish reason for not wanting Bobby's Dad to do the hit, Junior actually thought it was a terrible idea and felt bad for him.
As an old man with cancer who couldn't climb stairs, he still did better with hits than the animal Blundetto with the supposedly high IQ. Glad Young got into the show.
For a show filled almost exclusively with pieces of shit, Mustang Sally might've been the biggest. At least Richie and Ralph could make money and were even SOMEWHAT likable haha.

A murder is a murder bro
he shouldnt have beaten up vito's brother
Actually, having someone with just days (or in this case, hours) to live is extremely efficient from a crime perspective.
Especially when Sally hid himself first thing after clubbing Vito’s brother… needed something that made him feel nice & safe to flush him out…
Rocky loved him like a brother in law
Gonna fly now, flying high now . Hehehe
One of the best one off episodes of the Sopranos. Epic.
Burt Young really had the makings of a varsity actor.

Bacala Sr clearly wanted to do the hit, because he wanted to do one last useful thing to prove he is still alive.
