The Irish Leaving Cert syllabus had something for everyone. Whether it was about a blind man who dies after being lied about a worm in his cake, a poem about a toxic relationship between a married couple, a story about a hit and run outside a chipper, picture stories about nightmare holidays in Malaga or listening questions about how friends casually tell each other about how they won 10k in a lotto…

Looking back, I actually think this is very well made and one of Gleeson's best performances. It's the film that manages to permanently disturb and disgust thousands of Irish students, and you can't get that reputation by being lazily made.

This movie is peak Irish filmography. My favourite part was when the guy stood up and said "It's Cáca Milis'in time" and Millis'd all over the train. Truly the most exquisite scene of all time. Bravo Vince.

I watched it today and boy I can relate to the man. I have asthma before and it was bad. Had it for 2 years. The ending of this is really disturbing. She does nothing to help him and she just let him die because of her being annoyed by him.

We were watching this in school but we never reached the end of it because the school bell rang. I remember saying out loud that I didn't like the woman and she just rubbed me off the wrong way. But some other kids in class who had seen it said that the old man is actually the bad guy. Few months later, I come back to watch this to the very end and I still have no clue what they meant by that...

Leaving Cert? We watched this in Primary School at about 8 or 9 years old. Traumatised for a month or so afterwards. Raised us hard back then. 😂
