Oh goodness me how people write complete apeshit and think they are deep. It’s just remarkable how most people in the comments chose to ignore the fact that the boy chose to threaten the man with a very realistic toy gun. The reason why this film was so good was not because of the love and bravery the boy showcased, but rather the contrast between the sweet nature of his feelings and the horrifying potential his actions showcased. I’d say the boy’s actions are not to be praised for sure.

It's beautiful! The film is beautiful. The story is beautiful. The teacher is beautiful. The boy's love for her is beautiful. This might be a "short" 15-minute film, but I don't mind spending an hour watching it over and over. Maybe even an hour and a half. A few people seem to think that this movie glorifies gun culture. They are missing the point. When a movie shows people driving around in a car, it's not about glorifying car culture. The car, the gun, the house, they're all props. The essence of the movie is exactly described in the title. It's a crush that a little boy, who can be any of us when we were little boys, and despite being mature beyond his age, is still endearingly innocent, has for his teacher. It's a beautiful, original, touching, creative story, wonderfully realized by talented artists. Just enjoy it.
They do have. But they are crushed by the expectations of the other. Not only boys, it happens both ways. So both parties end up not expressing anything. But if they do express, they are rejected, or made fun of. Very few receive the same feeling back after expressing.

The sweetness of this film pulled me in. Where it went appalled me. Especially in consideration of the two recent incidents here in the states where young children brought their parents unsecured guns into school. One of the incidents resulting in the serious injury of a teacher. If there is one thing this film eloquently illustrates it's the curiosity of children and their inability to process mature emotional situations. It also documents the stupidity of some parents with regard to guns and the storage of them. Considering all the love for this film shown in the comments I'm sure I'll take a lashing for this comment, but I find the loving comments almost as disturbing as the film. I'm not anti gun, but I am seriously against the irresponsible handling and storage of them.
I'm with you on this one--this film rubbed me the wrong way. There's great irony in that the boy's father was complaining about the trouble caused by a guy with a crossbow, and now the boy himself threatens a fellow human being with a gun for, well, illogical reasons. Many commenters seem to think a second grade boy threatening a fellow human being with a gun is fine because it's fake. It's not. Threat is not a proper way of human interaction, and the threat of death--implied by the gun--strips its victim of all freedom. If I point a gun to someone's head and tell him I don't want to hear a word, they don't have the choice to test out whether the gun is real or not; if they guessed wrong, they're dead. I have effectively enslaved them through the possession of greater power. In the film, a boy did it to a man he doesn't even know but still hated. What could the man say? That he loved the teacher deeply and that he'd rather DIE than to say he won't marry her? The viewers knew that's probably what the boy wanted, but the fiance doesn't. The only thing he thought of was that if he triggered the boy, he could be dead, right there, for the silliest of reasons. There's nothing endearing about that "dueling" scene. It showcases the horror that any uneducated, careless children and a instrument of war (real or fake) is capable of. It's terrifying, but the teacher compliments the boy for his actions. He's called "Romeo," the hero, and maybe he'll do it again since it was considered so right the last time he did it... It only takes a few seconds of rage to kill a person forever. Nothing about gun should be taken lightly. At the end when the rubber bullet was revealed, I did not feel relief, rather I felt disappointment at the boy's parents and teacher and sadness for the man, who for all we know could've had a wonderful life with the teacher, because just like the boy, we know nothing about him.
I agree with you. I remember, when I was a child I was in my parents room and found a replica gun that had been his father’s. It wasn’t the kind that actually worked, just a old replica. I picked it up and pointed it at the wall. Didn’t even play-shoot or anything like that, but my father (who was a police officer and kept any real guns locked in a safe) saw me and scolded me for it pretty sharply. He then took the time to explain to me why it was such a big deal. That lesson always stayed with me. We were never allowed to even have toy water guns growing up because my parents wanted us to be aware that guns are not toys and are really dangerous because “You can’t take a bullet back”. (Edited to correct a typo)
@@midnightodellewest1999 What a great lesson by parents - this is how it should be. I am appalled at others commenting that the teacher handled the boy well and the boy was awesome etc. Nope, he was not. He threatened someone.
Same, but you know how echo chambers are. The scene with the gun was extremely uncomfortable to watch, looking exactly how you'd imagine a school shooter to look and act.
This is truly captivatingly disturbing how on one hand i think “does he seriously know the gravity of what he plans to do?” And on the other hand i truly wonder how a kid could be so cold and calloused and how he showed these signs of interest in firearms and violence form the beginning and no-one thought much of it

@@Beanbag777 "Crush" is a definition given by adults. Teens are not thinking about that, they just fall in love and think they have found or met the love of their lives. Of course, later on (one week, one month, three months later) they open their eyes and realize everything has been just a delusion.
"I would've missed my football and taken you for lunch". Dammit kid! You made me regret for not being as intense and brave as you are, when I was your age.
Most actions the teacher did was wrong- 1. You don't take a ring. 2. You don't say its complicated. He's a child and she's an adult. 3. She should have went in there instead of him because she is his teacher. 4. The nerve of this lady at the end. LOVED it!! I laughed out loud when the kid said "that's not my problem"; then thought "OMG this is NOT ok!" when the kid pulled the trigger. I was SO tensed when I saw the idiot just laying there like he was dead, and then PHEW, I exhaled with relief to the fact that it was just a good old fashioned film about a little guy with a crush on his teacher. Very interesting & entertaining indeed!! Times have changed drastically!! Crushes on teachers happened a lot, still happen & will keep happening, only teachers today are not at liberty to joke about it, or play along, because society is complicated, and some parents can come up with accusations that are beyond a good old fashioned teacher's reasoning or comprehension - Sad but True!!
That's because they take this same story and stretch it to 90 minutes by showing background on all the characters instead of using words to fill in the details.
I got to the end and literally said “wow” - I agree it’s the best film I’ve seen in a long time. Meanwhile Hollywood spends hundreds of millions on a film budget for soulless and emotional products. I’m skeptical of any new big production. This short was amazing!
Loved it. For me it was my 4th grade teacher. I sat all the way in the back of the class and when we were all reading, she would have a free moment and gaze past me out the window I sat in front of. It was like she was looking at me. I cherished that moment daily.
Did I just See something more interesting than an entire 2 hours Hollywood plot? I always watch Hollywood films but this shit make me blown away. I can literally felt the tension of each seen with powerful emotions. Goddamn man Its beautiful.
A very good short film showing the tragedy of two ignorant adults laughing snd ridiculing a child’s emotions and feelings, turning the child’s emotions into an adult joke. No matter if a person is 2 years old, 10 years old or 80 years old, love takes on many forms besides sexual love. Having a girlfriend at age 2,10, or 80 happens and for different reasons. All must be respected and understood and dealt with -with sensitivity, compassion, and understanding not ridicule as adults bcs they know better’.
Oh get a grip! It was a lovely little film about a boy's first crush, on his teacher, and he wanted to marry her and was willing to defend her honour against an uncouth fiance. The teacher was NOT laughing at nor ridiculing the child's feelings. Bloody hell! Typical 21st century non-comprehending, negative-looking, nihilist-like weirdo!!

I guess everyone praising this very entertaining short film because of how it ends and the scenes that lead up to the climax choose to ignore that what the boy did here is incredibly sociopathic.
I was pulled in by the sweetness and then appalled with where it went. I'm also kind of baffled with how many loving comments this film has received and the lack of comments like yours.
@@justsoapashfield Doesn't matter. Just to be able to engage in the act is not normal and bespeaks of sociopathy. Most people don't have it "in them" to go through with what this boy did or even to conceive of it. And, as we learned from Alec Baldwin, you never know what can happen with a gun.
@@gmh471 Alec Baldwin was holding a real gun. The kid had a toy, and he knew it. I do know what can not happen. Not true with Alec Baldwin. Yes, when people around you do not know you have a toy, and you appear to be threatening violence, any thing can happen...except that you, personally can not hurt someone. I did say it was quite possibly dangerous, but in that you do not know how others will behave. Of course it matters that he knew he was holding a toy. Still, as it indicated, i am in partial agreement with you.
Reminded me one story. In our school the boy had a crush on his teacher. She was married and had a kid. The boy grew up, graduated school, went to college, got a job. One day she list her husband and daughter in a car accident. He was the person who pulled her out of depression. They are married now and have kids.
This little boy stole my heart, just wish in the future if I have kids I want someone like him. He didn't take long to understand that he can't marry her.
Yes it's obvious a child is not grown enough to marry someone,if they love someone then they should wait until they grow up But I don't like his way of using a gun And I don't think the teacher also loved him, because she did nothing to save him atleast before he revealed everything
When he hands her the ring, she says "You didn't have to do it." And he says "No. I do. Its important that you know how i feel about you." You know that's very mature. All of us can learn something from this. This is what communication is about. And lots of couples - adults no less - simply don't let their partners know how they feel about them.
I Should Say...IT WAS A REAL THRILLER....I Am Fan Of This Boy Who Had Guts To Say Straight Away And We Don't Even Have Guts To Ask Our Crush Anything...This Kid Proposed His Crush...Love It
I love this story, but it is so scary. There was a triangle of love. The boy was mature enough to know what love was but not mature enough to know his actions were wrong. He did things throughout the short film that were wrong and destructive and said that he loved her, and no doubt that was true. The teacher herself seemed warm. Perhaps that is why the boy loved her.

Oh goodness me how people write complete apeshit and think they are deep. Crush is just a feeling of possession, just like you see something beautiful like a motorbike, you get a strong feeling to possess it, same goes with crush, you see someone attractive, your hormones do their job and you want to possess him/her, don't call it love, it's disgusting and disgraceful to do so, in reality you can't love someone without knowing them for like a good amount of time and making sure that person is good for you or not.

I am with you. All sweetness aside, it is disturbing. I am anti gun by the way.

This little boy stole my heart, just wish in the future if I have kids I want someone like him. He didn't take long to understand that he can't marry her.
You want a sociopath as a child?
Yes it's obvious a child is not grown enough to marry someone,if they love someone then they should wait until they grow up
But I don't like his way of using a gun
And I don't think the teacher also loved him, because she did nothing to save him atleast before he revealed everything
@@laughingachilles no sociopath. a protector and clairvoyant rather.

When he hands her the ring, she says "You didn't have to do it." And he says "No. I do. Its important that you know how i feel about you."
You know that's very mature. All of us can learn something from this. This is what communication is about. And lots of couples - adults no less - simply don't let their partners know how they feel about them.
@Eddie Morra Thanks Eddie. Appreciate your comment :-)
You said it.. The way screenplay created the bonding is terrific.. I love the words he spoke
I Should Say...IT WAS A REAL THRILLER....I Am Fan Of This Boy Who Had Guts To Say Straight Away
And We Don't Even Have Guts To Ask Our Crush Anything...This Kid Proposed His Crush...Love It
I love this story, but it is so scary.
In India, If students tell their teacher that he/she want to marry teacher.
Teacher - kal papa aur mummy ko leke ana.😂
