    Thank you Randy and Hailey for another fun adventure. Kayaking is a great way to enjoy the water and to explore places not accessible by land. I look forward to your videos and I certainly appreciate all the time and effort you spend making them. God Bless you both !! ... Robin :-)

    Never would have expected a place like this right by NYC! It sure looked like a fun day…and great kayaking exercise. Thanks for putting this together. Take care always.

    Nice video. I just went there this weekend. That was my first time kayaking in Ocean water. I have to say, it was terrifying for me. I do not know how to self rescue yet, so the next time I come here is after I'm confident I can get back in my kayak if I capsize because of the waves.

    I'm always amazed at natural discoveries in places you would not expect. Went kayaking with my daughter 3 weeks ago in the Willamette River just steps from our home. So much fun. Looks like ocean kayaking is a tad more work! Great video as always and much love

    The boat owners there don't seem to be having much luck with any of their boats! lol. You would have no idea a place like that existed so close to the city. Another great outing. Everything looked nice and crisp despite using just the GoPro - you made it look good!

    Nice little excursion. Pretty incredible that you can find some semblance of solitude within the confines of NYC.
    I am very envious that you get to chillax when on the water. It is just the opposite for me. I never get a break when we canoe or kayak.

    Way to rock out the go pro, and get out the paddle and give er! Nice series of islands to paddle by, man total different look to where we paddle here in N. ont. Nice urban escape to get out and enjoy an ocean breeze. The islands were more untouched then what I was expecting. Hope summer is Amazing! Keep on soaking in those summer days, 2021 style, must have been a fun edit to relive an adventure from last summer, man time flies.

    Even near the biggest of cities, count on Randy to find scenic places with not a soul around! Amazing what a little research and some sweat will get you for a peaceful day. Hope you are doing well brother and that you didn't get too drenched with the storm that buzzed by you recently.

    Well this is a bit different but it's still part of the national park system. You didn't have to go too far from home which is always great. I'm really surprised we didn't hear any planes flying over you being so close to the airport. Thanks for sharing brother!

    • @AmericasParks

      Good observation, Eric! I was thinking (hoping) we would get buzzed by some massive international planes, but nothing. They must have been coming in from the north.

    Randy, Great adventure for you and Hailey (Happy Birthday Hailey). Like others, I am surprised this is a National Recreation Area rather than a NY State Park, but maybe because of all the federal land. It looks clean in you video (except the abandoned boats, which the USCG may want to know the locations you found them). There are probably more boats since HENRI. how nice it is to enjoy without the crowds. Thank you for wearing lifejackets on the ocean! I love the sailboat. THANK YOU FOR TAKING US KAYAKING, . . . Mike

      @AmericasParks  2 роки тому

      Hey Mike! Good words, my friend! It's in the "Gateway" NP Recreation Unit, composed of three locations - Brooklyn, Staten Island and Sandy Hook (NJ).

    Great bonding time and super fun kayaking. Unsure which version of Go Pro you are using Randy but I am still pn the 7 Black and real happy with it, heard so many people who upgraded to the 8 and specifically the 9 Black, who are having awful problems with it. Now that was some find on the beach, a boat.....like your daughter said, must have been a float away. Fun trip, precious memories, cheers Alan

    We've been meaning to do this. You know what they say? You never do things where you live. Also, nothing wrong with letting the person in front paddle while you rest. They'll never know if you never tell them. 😂

    Hailey/Hayley (?), I share the sentiments you expressed at around 6:30. I've visited Isle Royale, Mackinac Island, Washington Is. in Wisconsin's Door County, Canada's Prince Edward Is. and Newfoundland, and Dry Tortugas, and I'd like to visit Channel Islands and Kenai Fjords for those same reasons.

      @@AmericasParks , pretty place, isn't it, Randy? Did you camp? I "wimped out", and got a room, and when I arrived in the rain 2 summers ago, I was glad I had done so. Also, nothing at all against Natalie. Nevertheless, it was good to see Hailey/Hayley [sp.]).

      @@jimgreen5788 Yeah, we camped at Isle Royale. A room would have been so much better as I got food poisoning that night and thought I was going to die. Not easy in the tent with the bathroom a 1/2 mile away! :(

    You found my boat! Was your minivan responsible for all those donuts and peel outs on the runway? I've fished by the Verrazano many years ago, they have fluke and those giant striped bass around there. They also have hundreds of annoying wild turkeys by the boardwalk. They are such a nuisance.

      National Recreation Area.

    • @AmericasParks
      @AmericasParks  2 роки тому

      Yeah, not one of the "major parks", but part of the 400+ parks in the national park system. Technically it's "Gateway National Recreation Area" - three units (Brooklyn, Staten Island and Sandy Hook (NJ)). Thanks for joining us, John!
