Admiral Ching Lee pulled a fast one to get his ships armed with as many 40mm AA guns as possible. First he found places where those could be set then had the platforms designed and put into production at Pearl Harbor. Then he got the base commander and others to sign a requisition order for the guns to use at PH. Lee had the heading written in pencil so erased that to write in something else. It went all the way thru the chain of command without being noticed. By the time someone did, Lee had the guns mounted on his ships. General George C. Marshall asked Admiral Ernest King about that sleight of hand trick. King shrugged, saying Lee must of wanted those in a hurry so found a way to accomplish that.

The only warships I can easily go to around me are the uss stewart and the uss Cavalla, but there are rumors that the gslveston naval museum is getting a third ship, and of course the uss texas will have its own museum/dock pretty soon
