- Ever wanted to just wake up on the beach!? Here is my simplified guide on how to start camping right on the beach!
Welcome to Cape Lookout National Park (The Outer Banks) is located just off the coast of North Carolina and is a great Overlanding getaway. It isn't just your average beach stay though!
This place is amazing but can also be formidable if you've never been. In this guide I'll show you how we did it and provide links to beach driving permits and ferry services. I did my best to pack as much info into a short easy to view video. I hope you enjoy it. If it helped please like it and subscribe!

Cool video. I have done beach camping before, but nothing like this. Looks amazing!
Super fun experience! I have another video about the place but decided to do a refresher on it. :)
wow..
I hope that is a good "wow" :)
Did you see other AWD cars there? I have a Honda Pilot Trailsport. Haven't seen much clips on other AWD making it thru there. Thanks!
I did see a Subaru I think.
To be fair my sister who came along in her 21 tahoe I believe it is awd. I think it would be ok but some traction boards might not be a bad consideration. Air down helps a ton.
How do you like your tuff stuff alpha? I have two kids and thinking about getting the same tent.
Its been solid. I have 3 kids. Can we fit 2 adults, teenager an 8 and 9 year old? no. Can we fit two adults and the two youngest, yes. My biggest con about it is the height, its like 13" at its tallest, that equals wind resistance but also doubles as a bit of storage there as well. Its easy enough to setup and put away, especially if you are taller than me haha. I wanted something that I could use an annex with for extra room. Also consider if you want a 360 awning. It will interfere with that (see my awning video). If I could do it over id get something more low profile possibly. But its solid and I havent had anything more than very small gripes about it. It has a sunroof also!
@@RavensEyeOffroad thanks for the detailed reply! Yeah I’m trying to decide if the slimmer ikamper skycamp is worth the premium. But the ikamper is much longer when it’s closed up.
@ryankernus I'd check on Facebook. There is a rtt sale group you can get good deals there on stuff that's new or "used twice wife hates it" sorta stuff lol.
I'd decide wedge vs side open and go from there. Honestly they are all nearly the same or slightly different than one another.
@@RavensEyeOffroad Great tip! And agreed, I've been coming to the same conclusion after countless hours of research haha.
