I actually have been exclusively playing the Van Geet opening for about 8 months now. It carried my Lichess rating up to 2300. It's a seriously dangerous opening which most don't know how to handle. There's a decent Chessable course on it by Lawrence Trent for anyone interested.

I meet the Van Geet opening with c5, the Sicilian. White can still play the closed Sicilian or the Grand Prix Attack, but he doesn't have the Alapin or the Smith-Morra.

I play the VanGeet all the time and crush Experts, and Masters some as hi as 2300-2500 . Basically I know the ideas very well and often outplay them.
