Glad to say I retired from the Buses after 12 years of driving the 93 bus from North Cheam to Putney bridge. Still wake up some days thinking I'm going to be late for work and its great to turn over and go back to sleep. Got 12 years safe driving awards for safe driving and never scratched a bus. Made some lifelong friends with the fellow drivers and had so many memorable moments, but it's good to now be able to plan my day around what's on TV and beer times with the guys :) ~ Drive carefully and good luck for the future my fellow driver.
Good video as ever, as sad as it is to see an old bus / old route go, it is really good to see some nice London bus drivers and some more enthusiasts. See you in the next one.

Nice video. I’ve been in Thailand for a month and still currently here and live opposite Honor oak park station. Nice to see my area!! So glad that Go ahead have the 172 back and at last the route will have decent buses. It’s not had new buses since the PVL’s that go ahead ran on it last!!!
I enjoyed that and your "interview" with Alicia, plus my enjoyment had the added influence of my daughter living on the route, close to the Brockley Rise terminus. Hope to ride and get some shots this coming weekend when ai visit. Another Yorkshireman 'darn sarf'!
WOW! Absolutely amazed how long those roller destination blinds have been going for and yet the ones, we have got up here in Scotland are mainly yellow and dot matrix format. Edinburgh is the exception where it's similar to those in London black background with white colour text.

Hello Anton, a fantastic bustour through London. I really miss London! A year ago you spoke about doing a special drive test for old Routemaster. You forgot to give us an update. It would be good do a video on the world famous Routemaster anyway. It would attract another group of subscribers. In the Netherlands the main atraction in the Bus and Tram Museum in The Hague is one the real old London Routemasters. So I think it this a very important bus for London. Maybe you can explain why the old Routemaster had to be replaced? For me it's just like that we would decide to destroy all our windmills
I like these old Walworth Volvos, I used to get to ride these on the Greater Anglia rail replacement service. Now we’ve got a few of the classic E400s (from 2006/2007) but it’s mostly hybrids. Did you know Abellio Borismasters have ventured as far as Southend on rail replacement?!
Anton, should do a talk about headway and such, as I knew drivers who worked together to keep a good service on a route I cant mention but they all knew the pinch points and worked together to ensure a good service. I rarely see this now. Too many drivers take the mick

As the route transfers to another bus company in London on March 17th 2018, Anton speaks to some of the drivers and passengers en-route from Brockley Rise to Clerkenwell Green. Driver Tadese from Ethiopia is looking forward to driving brand new buses at the New Cross garage from where he previously worked before the route was transferred 7 years ago! Driver Godfrey decides to stay at Walworth and drive route 45, taking Anton on his final 172 journey through Brockley, New Cross, Old Kent Road, Elephant & Castle (where driver Mariusz takes over) and continues the journey through Waterloo, Aldwych, Royal Courts of Justice, Fleet Street (taking in views of St Pauls Cathedral) and finishing at Clerkenwell Green. The 2005 Wright bodied Gemini Volvo B7L buses will be replaced by new Enviro Hybrids on Alexander Dennis Bodies! Why are most of the old buses going? I really love them and I’m gonna miss them because of the sound of them. It’s such a shame,they are barely gonna be any old buses since they are it to electric/hybrid but I like them anyways.😀👍🏾

Since 19 March 2011 I remember the 172 was getting Abellio London with 14 existing Trident 9.9m/ALX400 double deckers from Walworth garage from Go Ahead London at New Cross Garage.
We'll probably get them up north (Newcastle, Sunderland area) as we got your old WVL's (Can't remember them all but its the batch WVL150 was from) and get used on Scholar and private hire work!
The B7TL will either be transferred to another company like first,arriva ETC... either for parts or for spares. Also question do your B7TLs overheat? Ours suffer badly from overheating in bradford

Yep london is very strict with the bus specifications and companies want to offer the best buses to win tenders. All buses pre 2006 are extinct in London

Aswell as 2005 Volvo B7TLs, Abellio ran ALX400 bodied Transbus Tridents new to Armchair in 2003 on the 172.
Ross Colley ....yes...some were 210 hp and others were 230hp...I remember reading the details on the metal plates near the front door of the bus!

All those older buses were the original electric buses but 20 years ago. 2018 saw the plug pulled on the last older buses in London.

Jamie Amoah ...yes I remember driving them...they had a bit of power but the drivers seat wasn't very comfortable with the seat and pedal arrangement!
I was on this route on Friday filming and I thought to my self that Anton will come on the last service of this route and I was right:)

172 abellio buses are withdrawn. They are taken by route 45 using enviro 400 MMCs.
