Duran Duran talents are endless they write all there own songs and play their own instruments love them all one of the best James bonds songs and video.
I also saw this broadcast of them on Good Morning America, however, the date that I saw it was on May 17th, 1985! If it had been broadcast on June 14th, 1985 I wouldn't have seen it because that was the day that my father died, & I very busy taking care of notifying family & friends about his passing! It was also the 24th birthday of Boy George of Culture Club as well that day too!
whoops!! John Barry did not write the James Bond Theme. That was monty norman. Barry Orhestrated it & made it what it is now. but write it nope. oh well only 30 years too late...lol!!
Yes, it's true there was a disagreement over a chord change in the song and Nick held out. John Barry probably wasn't used to dealing with such precociousness.
Duran Duran composed this. John Barry’s name was only there because of politics. This is a Duran Duran sound. John Barry is not able to compose This type of music. In fact as great as he is in composing and arranging James Bond themes He had to be schooled in the proper usage of a certain chord - very important chord in the song by Nick Rhodes. This is the reason why they didn’t get along because finally the studio went along with Nick Rhodes’s opinion - not Barry’s.
@Sam Le chiq what a joke! saying john barry being schooled in the proper usage of certain chords by nick rhodes, the only one in the band who has no musical ability AT ALL. NICK didnt even know anything about chords and the difference between a minor scale and a major scale, he hardly can play keyboard/piano or any instruments. by saying that nick schooled john barry means that you are telling false information on internet thus you are trashing someone's reputation with lies. you obviously dont know what you are talking about same as you dont know anything about music, so you better stfu.
@Sam Le chiq if you are reffering to argument about one note in the chorus where nick wanted E flat major while john barry adamant that it should be F sharp major then you are wrong. the fact is John barry won the argument and his version sounds so much better. you can hear both chords in the steven thompson 12' extended version. of course nick claimes he won the note cause john barry is not around to defend himself
this is the actual fact about the making of 'a view to a kill' as told by andy taylor in his book. John came up with a wisp of a tune for the opening part of the song. “I think we have got a start here,” said Simon hopefully. Simon worked on it a bit more with John Barry, and they came up with the first line, “Meeting you, with a view to a kill.” Roger and I then developed a hybrid drum/electro sound that sounded great and Simon added the chorus. Originally he sang it as one flowing line, “Dance into the fire.” Working with Nick, however, was not easy. Nick seemed to be resentful of the whole project because it was organized by John Taylor. Nick always seemed to be swimming against the tide. “I’m fucking not doing that,” Nick would say flatly. John Barry challenged him a few times about things he’d done musically, “You can say all you want, but I know what I am talking about and at this time, you don’t,” said Barry in his posh voice. “I’ve worked with people like Shirley Bassey and Roger Moore, and this is my gig, young man.”
There's always an uncomfortable vibe whenever I see Duran Duran interviewed. They all look like they are insecure too far up their own arses and too concerned about posing to properly respond to questions. I'd be interested to know just who composed what on View to a kill. Le Bon claims that they came up with the musical ideas but Barry isn't around to defend his contribution. It is one great piece of music though.
Re: Duran Duran - A View To A Kill. There are a few demos out there of A View To A Kill (one was on youtube) & they pretty much sound as the song turned out. Although there are differences on the keyboard stabs on one that I heard. Barry added all the Orchestral elements including all the intrumental crashes & backing tune (from the OST) 'wine with stacy' & 'that fatal kiss', the latter used a B side on the Bands single. As for the bands awkwardness in interviews they were probably coked up to the eyeballs.

Well , yes, agree but in the end all ends well. Such Fame wasnt that easy to hadle for sure. Those poses are a way of defence. They werent more posers than Elvis or Bowie.
My heart skips a beat when john taylor speaks
Duran Duran and Barry did such a terrific job on this one - it's one of the best Bond tunes for sure.
Best Bond song ever...
TK/TB-41066, out....
Simon and Nick were in paris for Arcadia, while John Taylor was on the middle of the Power Station tour
Thanks so much for this. I've included all the info and clip in my 35th birthday write up of the song today stevepafford.com/duranview/
When this aired, I was just a few days away from turning 18 years old, on June 18. I was a BIG, BIG FAN OF DURAN DURAN BACK IN HIGH SCHOOL!
John Barry. Beautiful music genius.
I remember recording this in 1985! Arcadia - which Simon and Nick were working on at the time - still remains one of my favorite albums of all time.
Duran Duran talents are endless they write all there own songs and play their own instruments love them all one of the best James bonds songs and video.
@Jacqueline Mullan......LOL - if only you knew the truth! One of the most 'manufactured' bands in the history of Pop music.
Well don't you all look bloody fantastic! Then and now some people never change! Wow
I saw A View TO A Kill in 1986 at a Car Drive In and it was so fun!
I adore JT! He's my favorite!
DURAN DURAN CREATED THE BEST SONG TO JAMES BOND
I do agree def in the best 2

Bloomin heck , honestly thaught Simon La Bon was Elvis😂 at first 😮
It's not Simon, it's Elvis
細かい言葉の雰囲気までわかる日本語訳が欲しい〜!!!
Somehow Simon looks abit more French than usual while in Paris there. His face really looks quite different.
He Is French (Huegenot) on his father's side ....
@@groofoot I know that's why I said "more French than usual".
His mother was French too.
It's well known that Nick and John Barry did NOT get along at all.
Texas Girl, maybe it was that conflict that helped create one of the greatest Bond themes ever, you know?
No that was A-Ha.
Duran Duran had trouble with jazzy overtones, Portishead however
As far as I know it was indeed a-ha that had a terrible collaboration? the guys from DD were huge Barry fans
Yes, it's true there was a disagreement over a chord change in the song and Nick held out. John Barry probably wasn't used to dealing with such precociousness.
Who is this woman?? Anyone, anyone?
She apparently worked for Good Morning American in mid-1985. Doesn't stick in my memory
My goodness Simon and Nick look so HOT!!!!!!!!
Simon looks like Elvis
Nick nick 👀🤩🐾🐈⬛

John Barry, a seasoned composer, being schooled in the "proper usage" of a certain chord you can't even name? Please go to bed.

The orquesta hit and the high end bass line is pure John Barry

I read a John Barry interview then, that he liked to work with the boys but didnt like to work with A-HA
