Note this scenario has been updated since I originally made this video. I completed it again here after the update: ua-cam.com/video/DzicnNwJE8M/v-deo.html
20:09 that villager just rocking to the sick AoE 2 music. Something I just noticed. The Jin have had some of the Buddhist statues from the Rise of the Raja's expansion added to their base. Neat!
So I tried this method and I think they may have updated the Jin's AI because in my playthrough they spawn way more knights. It is much harder to even get to castle if you keep doing it this way. The new method I used was to kill the engineer's military units but completely ignore them otherwise and transport all your units straight to the Jin island. Then drop a tc outside of their walls and build a base. As soon as you hit castle start attacking them and build rams and pikes. You won't have enough gold for camels if you do it like this. You can build farms or traps but traps are more efficient. Once you have destroyed the first TC age up and research drill at the castle among other things.
I changed it to build a TC outside Jin's gates and prepare some knights to protect your cannons that you get on the other side of the wall to destroy Jin's TC. Oddly they won't update to the Imperial Age after you deleted their main TC and start building from there. i built a castle to destroy the superior right towers to spot a gold mine, use it to build and upgrade your mangudais and your siege weapons, it's an easy call from there. you get 2 extra gold mines inside Jin's territory and they will surrender and leave their market for your trading units to collect gold without any of the other 3 interferring.
The idea was great, but with the current AI it's much harder. You played it on "hard", I had to go down to "standard" and still the AI rebuilds their TownCenter attack my TownCenter like crazy. I needed to additional Castles to protect the TC only to survive. But the basic idea is great.
There isnt even a need for a cheesy TC drop strategy. You can just build a base normally and just start attacking Jin early, while you are still castle age. Make sure to drop a castle at their base and preferabley have a TC in their island to extend your economy and for vils to repair your rams. Make rams for the towers and buildings, pikes to garrison in the rams and against the knights. a simple tower can kill an army of chu-ku-nus. raid their economy, especially wood economy since its in the front so its easy to kill. They will quickly stop collecting wood and wont be able to build a wonder, and will then fall easily.
I did a live to in order to get this achievements, for the ones doing it in standard just put a castle in front of the door and get ur canons to destroy Jin's town center then their ressources ;)
Difficult to build a TC on the southeast because their archers keep spotting my vills. Had to build my TC on the northeast gate, build a castle, use Light Cavalry to harass their eco and bait their army, and hope for the best.
For me defeating the scenario on hard was the more difficult part on the path to gain the achievement. After taking blues base, tc drop farm and wood, take 2 boar and fishboom into fast castle time, to plug the chinese gate with our own castle to gain peace on the main land. With that we have time to add two more TCs, go imperial and invade yellow with dream combo E-Mangudai, Hussar and Speedram. If done carefully done it is still early enough to prevent them to start their wonder.

Few nitpicks : 1. If you saved all your army to use it to attack red, you could have easily killed his economy using cannons. 2. You could had built a castle instead of building so much towers. Would have helped considering magundai cost gold and wood, which you had in significant numbers. 3. Mongol fish traps are better than mongol farms so you should had made more docks for fishing ships, instead of making farms... 4. You could had destroyed a lot of red army by building demolition ships and attacking them while they were crossing the river to the engineers camp.
I think they have tweaked this scenario since then becuase now when I run to the gate there are a few Chu Ko Nu who are standing there ready to shoot my villagers. Attacking the wall piece no longer procs the AI to attack you all out. A few stay back and shoot your villagers trying to sneak in.
Totally agree, I've been playing it today and there's now a lot of starting chu ko nu outside and even when I took down the Jin TC, they started making a lot of knights despite having no food eco, they somehow started building a wonder despite my best efforts.
@@submarine_santafe8987 I think there is a window to hit them if you just slap down a TC build a Market and blacksmith. Get to Castle and then build a Castle in the eastern top corner of their base. Take out the towers there and mine the gold. Mangudai/Ram attack them, fall back to the castle when you start getting too overwhelmed. Take down their TC and kill all their villagers. I nearly nearly did it but i missed a few villagers who then proceded to put the Wonder down. I killed them and won the game anyway but yeah. No achievement. I think the key is to time your attack just right when you have enough Mangudai to kill their knights easily and back up your rams to knock over their Castles and TC
I experienced that too, way more chu ko nu to defend at the start and constant production of chu ko nu and knights even though they should have had no more eco. The video still gave me the right idea of approach, just was a lil bit harder to protect my own eco in early shoes. I was pretty slow with taking over their base after i castled but they never attempted to build a wonder.
Under the new patch, I went to Jin's island, built a TC on the north, went straight to Castle and built a castle right outside the north gate. From there, Mangudai and Petards are very useful. Still doable, just in a different way. DIdn't even go for the BBCs xD
I did defeat Jin by fast castle age and mangudai+ram raid. I killed most of its villagers so no wonder was built and when run out of resources, they resign. When i completed the scenario, no achieve T.T
Starting from this month's update, it seems impossible to do so. Jin's Chu Ko Nu will be more clever to realize your real strategy by not chasing your light cavalries.
I just did this last night with the TC drop plus those bombard cannons and a few skirms for stray Chu Ko Nu. I'm not a speedrunner by inclination, so I didn't bother killing the Engineers before getting going, and I rushed the cannons over to the transport without attacking red first, and that worked out well in the end.
I still think this scenario is kinda misrepresentative. For one, making all those factions Chinese kinda ignored how some of them were of very different ethnic group that have more to do with the Mongols and the central Asia civs. Second, they were in serious infighting even after the Mongols shown up, it'd reflect the history better if you can ally with one of them or something.
Agreed. While in vanilla AoE2 that would be hard to implement (obviously), now, with DE and 30+ civs, it seems kinda lazy. Especially with a fact, that a lot of scenarios have been (more or less) reworked. Even changing one of the factions to the Tatars would give some flavor.
Unless China gives up their propaganda of "One China", it would be almost impossible. No matter what ethnicity was there, as long as it was in now China, then it's Chinese history NOT of any other and of Chinese people. This is their propaganda.
And Song even planned to crush out Jin with Mongolians until they realized their true power. And Song was not completely conquered until Kublai's reign. Should have added the option to ally with Song against the other three in the scenario as it's more historically accurate

Can't you just build a castle outside of Jin's territory and lure them out by poking the walls with the game's actual version? I even tried using a tiny attack ship to shoot a wall with a castle by the right side of the map but nobody came...
You shouldn't worry about the bombard cannons. The jin are tributed 10000 of each resource when you capture them. You can just transport ypur troops directly into jin at their dock and TC strategy that way. And Focus down the castle with rams gradually and kill villagers with your calvary

The method depicted in this video is risky, but occupying the empty land northeast of yellow and booming can be just as effective. Jin will become very strong if you leave them alone for too long, but early on I've found they're less of a nuisance than the other three Chinese factions usually are (if you choose to build on the mainland).
