  • Have you ever looked out over the open water while on a muskie hunt and dreamed of having some kind of special power that would enable you to “see” exactly where the muskies are hiding? On many days, and especially when the bite is super tough, this kind of special power would be absolutely incredible!
    Well I am excited to tell you that in some ways, this dream of ours is starting to become a reality! With side imaging technology you can now literally SEE muskies, on either the port or starboard sides of the boat, while you are casting, trolling or simply scouting new water. Side imaging (SI) will allow you to locate muskies that are holding far away from the boat or it can show a deep-following musky coming into the figure-8 that would otherwise be extremely hard to detect. Regardless of the situation, side imaging gives you an advantage unlike any other technology in muskie fishing history because you can now locate muskies in places that you would normally would never have been able to before.
    In this video my good buddy, and long time musky hunting partner Mike Richardson and I, are casting a spot just before sunset when all of the sudden I spot a musky on my side imaging sonar screen. Because I was running the sonar at 70 ft, I was able to estimate the location of the musky at 40 ft away from the boat, and after only 3 casts…. I was hooked up with a “boat-tower!”

      Cameron thanks dude!! Yes, SI is changing the game for me in my musky hunting! We would never have known that a hungry muskie was cruising out over open water behind us!!! Just so cool.

      Kyle right on man!! SI is going to change the game. It had already led to catches of some very nice muskies that I would never have caught without it. Great seeing you at the show this weekend and really appreciate all of the positive feedback!

    Amazing video and beautiful fish guys! That was awesome to watch. Truly amazing and a testament to the power of side imaging technology. It appeared as though that fish was spotted while you guys were cruising by. Would quickly marking a way point on that fish have been possible in order to pin point that fish's location for the subsequent casts you made to try and catch it? I'm asking because I just picked up a new Helix 12 with mega SI and have been busy doing my research on my brand new unit in preparation for next season. Curious as to your response. Thanks again!

      Thanks Sean! Yes, marking a waypoint on it would have been the best but at the time it didn't cross my mind to drag the cursor over and drop a pin. I have since marked waypoints on lots of muskies and its really cool because many of them that I mark do not really move far from their location as you try to catch them. Sometimes in the heat of the moment (like when one follows in the figure-8) I don't mark them but instead just continue casting in the direction that I see the fish. Hope that helps and keep the great questions coming!

    Awesome capture on film! We were lucky enough to call out a strike to a boat along side of us this fall that was pulling a sucker and watched as the musky came up and ate! He is now a believer in the MEGA.

    Dude that was insane, that fish was a brute! I am looking forward to having side imaging this year. Do you experience interference when running it up front like that? Also how well can you see bait as you are going along on the side imaging?

    • @MuskyMastery
      @MuskyMastery  4 роки тому +2

      Matt thanks dude!! Really appreciate it! My transducers are located in the back on the transom so there is a slight "lag" in the timing of what I am seeing on the bow. I have two transducers so that I do not get any interference from the lower unit of my ETEC. You can see bait really nicely, everything from ciscos to mayfly larva.... so insanely cool dude

    Great great segment Side imaging is so wonderful. I look forward to leaning more about it and using it. After watching 23 episodes this year and all from season one and two, are you sure you are not training huge muskies and releasing them so you can catch them on camera? It seems so many of your catches are monsters. Keep up the great lessons. Very timely in lieu of your great speaking session in Milwaukee. Learned a lot from both
