I'm glad to have watched this. I'm getting ready to attempt the same thing but it will hopefully be a two under shelf coffee table. Looks like he Unions definitely solve some of the questions in my head about threading. I have a piece of tempered glass and some scrap tongue and groove end pieces to work with.
You know that from Amazon (and other online retailers) you can get decorative versions of cast iron pipes and flanges for half, or less, the price of real stuff at Lowes or HD. Like 3/4" flange at Lowes, as of Feb 2022, is $5.50 each but from Amazon you can get packet of 10 for $15.
2 year old comment, I know, but any idea on if they can still withstand heavy weight? Obviously not as much, but would there be any concern with like 200 lbs or something?
Hi Jim, I did not. most of the pipe is standard legents and the custom sizes I had them cut and threaded at the local hardware store. If you are in the market for pipe threader tools, Ridgid is the brand to look at.

Did you thread your own pipes? Are pipe threader tools reasonably priced?
