Much Love.
I like multiple rounds because it gives you a better idea of the relative capabilities of the planes, and what works and what doesn't! Also like seeing you take the Tomcat to the limits of what it can do. Clearly, it lets you know when it's not happy.
I love how the F-14 shakes, rattles, and rolls as you're yanking it around the sky. Really get a sense of the stress put on machine and man (to borrow a line from Red Barchetta).
The longer videos are a definite plus. The F-110 powered Tomcat can hang with just about any gen 4 fighter. Seeing how the Flanker series will be around for quite a while longer, it's nice to know the F-14 could've been competitive had the Navy chosen to stick with it. I would love to see the B in a dogfight with the top of the line SU-35.
Seems that, in training, the outcome between F-14A and B/D was almost in parity. The gain in performances was not decisive. The F-110 was chosen primarily as a measure to increase range; sure, the B/D can now exploit the vertical and sustain better turns in a two-circle engagement, but above a certain altitude and speed, the old TF-30 has the edge, being a very low bypass engine, thus more apt in the hi-hi environment. Also the B/D was heavier.
@@andreabindolini7452 The TF30 is a horrible engine for a fighter. It's not designed for the kinds of maneuvers you see in dogfighting which is why it got replaced with the F110.
@@RaderizDorret It is. But at high speeds holds up very well. That said, while the F-14 is very agile (especially for its size), its primary mission was not to be a dogfigher. The TF-30 was replaced for the motivations mentioned above. Not to make the F-14 a better dogfigher. At the time, F-14 were already limited in load factor to cope with the aging of the airframes. By the manuals, the limit was -2.4 / +6.5 g, even for the new production F14s.
I love the longer videos. Gives us a chance to see variety in the dogfights. I want to see the YF-23 you teased in the video where you fight unknown aircraft. Whoever modeled that YF-23 seems to understand the spooky maneuverability of the YF-23's rudder-vators.
It would be great to have a tournament. Maybe a double elimination guns only, BVR, wingman, air groups, and any other pairing. That would be epic and great collaboration.
I love watching you fly the f14, it is such a unique plane and it changes the dynamic of the fight so much since there are many different strategies (manual wing sweep, flaps down, etc). Or flying against it since it can be a very difficult opponent in the right flyers hands
Been watching you for about 2 years now and I absolutely love the longer videos, I’d say you are one of the pilots I’ve seen that inspired me to hop back into flight simulation after being out of it for about 15 years. Currently dedicating most of my free time to DCS setting it up with what I have and deciding which aircraft to go for.
Hey GS, Just wanted to thank you for ALL the work you put into these really great videos. I enjoy each one a long with learning the technical info you give. Thanks from an old Vietnam marine airwing veteran. 👍

Great video! I think around the 15 minute mark at least for me is perfect for this kind of video. Dunno if this is the right place but for your mini docu series I’d love to see one on the different types of canopy removal system during the ejection process. Why one is picked over the other like the difference between the harrier system where there’s explosives in the canopy glass vs the f14 where the whole canopy is just blasted off.
I enjoy watching your longer videos. My dream is to become a fighter pilot one day. I'm still in school though, so it's pretty interesting to learn some stuff through your videos. Keep it up

Seeing multiple rounds of dogfighting is a really good way to prove a plane's capabilities against a rival and ensuring that a win or loss wasn't just up to luck. Besides, whenever the dogfights are in an F-14B it'll always be a bonus reason to watch because that's my favouriter fighter jet either way!!😎

The F-14 is a legend. Amazing how that fighter is so well recognized and respected. First time I saw one perform was at Miramar in 1990 during the Blue Angels weekend. Despite its size compared to smaller fighters, it’s power, grace and maneuvering are just mesmerizing.

I heard once if you are chasing someone around a two circle and you can't quite get the angle for a gun kill, then pull a barrel roll to the outside of the circle. When you roll back in and re-engage, your angle will be improved. This was a Vietnam era manoeuvre, is there a reason ppl don't do this anymore?
He definitely wasn't expecting that Round 4 move. He expected you to come in with your wings swept, but when you went verticle with all that speed he didn't know what to do. Nice and unpredictable.
I'd be interested to see something that really tests the two pilot's skill level by having them both fly the same aircraft, whether it be a sopwith camel or a SU 57. It can be all guns, fox 2, or bvr as long as both opponents fly the exact same aircraft.
I do enjoy the multiple matches as they show both sides and give you ideas on how to fly and fight against an opponent... Great videos and keep up the great work...
