@@stevenhodgson834 Me too.... I've tried a few different soaps but a like a cheap brand called " DERBY", their blades seems also decent. Thanks for getting back, best wishes 👍🏻
perfect, thanks! I just shaved with a safety razor for the first time and had to use a brush and hard soap, and didnt really get a good foam, but now I know how for tomorrow!
I was trying to remember if my dad was the kind of man that wiped his whiskers out of the sink. I decided I needed to know how he lathered it up and found your video. Feel like I pulled over and you pointed me to the lane with that memory on it 🧠✨
Yes a little does go a long way. I haven't bought new soaps in years. I've used the cupped hand method when I left my cup at home works good and keeps the soap warm.
So once you are done using the soap tin. Do you just set it off to the side? Do you let it air dry? How to do you store this? Sorry if these seem like dumb questions. I am very new to this and just starting to look into it.
I take a small amount and spread it on the bottom of my shaving bowl and build the lather. I don't let water come near my soap container. That way it can't get spoiled.
Tried looking everywhere for the answer to this question too 😭😭 feel stupid asking it aswell because I wanna make the switch to safety razors too lmfao
@@jnr804People are overcomplicating the whole shaving process. Only takes a couple of tries then you find the thickness of the lather you like, and the just repeat next time, there only a few things to make it work, soap water and whipping. The you can have to much or to little water. People has been using shaving soap since 18.. something. No magic, just a little practice
Don't know about sensitive skin shaving soap but on your second question: Are you already using a safety razor? Multiblade razors can cause a lot of irritation. Using an alum block after your shave followed by an after shave balm can also help with irritation after shaving. Pre shave, it helps to oil up your facial hair to soften it and make it easier to cut.
Hey I have a question I'm new to wet shaving! Do you think its necessary to transfer the lather made with the brush in the the puck to the cup? In other words can I directly put the the lather made in the puck onto my face? Thanks.
Great question. You can directly apply to your face and lather. Typically the cup is to turn a little bit of soap lather into more. The cup is also great for if you want to make multiple shave passes and don’t want to place the brush back on your soap. Usually you’ll still have some lather left in the cup.
One benefit for using the brush on your face and lathering it there instead of a mug is that you will also exfoliate your skin, which will make your hair stand up more and bring some extra blood flow to tighten up your skin. It might also help with any dry skin left in your beard if you intend to keep some of the scruff afterwards. However, if you need to go for a second pass, you will need to apply some more product to your face, so it's a matter of what you like to do as well as how many rounds of shaving you need.
I gotta ask what do you do to clean the soap that was all lathered up? I’ve been using toilet paper to clean it up and store it away again. Any better ideas? Thank you for the video and technique!!
Thank you, great video. I just purchased a badger brush. I'm new to wet shaving and I have sensitive skin so I use preshave oil. I checked the information available prior to ordering but guess what? About a third of he way into one side of the owner's care/instruction manual, about half-way down the page it says "DO NOT USE PRESHAVE OIL". So, what brush should I buy?
It really depends on if your looking for more of a lotion aftershave or smell. For a lotion type I like the Pacific Caffeinated, it has a nice light spearmint scent. If you like menthol, there's Cremo Cooling. For the traditional alcohol versions there is Brut Classic or Old Spice Classic. Many of the shave soaps have a version of aftershave as well. If you want something that doesn't burn you can use any version of Thayers Facial Toner.
I can reccomend Taylors of Old Bond Steet - their aftershave gel is amazing as is their shaving creams and soaps. They are an English company. Arianna & Evans are a good US brand.
Should have watch this before i did my first ever double edge razor shave. It turned out fine but the lathering part was not satisfying. Gotta wait a week to do it again😅
Okay so I'm trying to figure out, what the heck do you do with the original container of soap that you wetted with the brush? Do you just close it up? Do you wipe it down and then close it? Do you let it air dry and then close it? I was using a Proraso tube before but now I have 2 of those plastic containers with the soft soap cake in it. WHAT DO I DO when I'm done with using it each shave?
What I do is just leave it on the counter overnight with the lid off to allow it to dry. The next day I place the lid on and wipe the outside. That’s it.
This is a traditional shaving cream. Soap is a misleading term here. It doesn’t contain anything that would clean your beard or face. The purpose is apply a fatty lubricant to your face to lift the hair away so that shaving is easier.
Can anyone recommend a good shave brush? I keep buying ones that slowly lose their bristles. It's not a big deal. They're not expensive or anything. I would just like one that lasts.
shave with any bar soap? cut the bar soap up put in a mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, microwave for a minute or so? if it Foam up stop. let cool you just went it to congeal' place in the sun, until soap hardens Larry
Ive used up my €40 soap in about 4 months 😅 than i bought a different one and the man said how i aply it and told me a bar should laat about a year or longer
"You dont need anything fancy". Insta liked the video right there. Keep preaching it
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video!
This is the clearest video about the matter I've found... 2 times now, by the way. 😅
First time i use the brush with soap and you help me a lot, thank you brother!!!
Thanks for watching the video. Glad I could help!

A shaving bowl with ridges is great for making lather ! Definitely worth buying.

Finally a good video showing you how to lather! 10/10 thanks for making this

When you use the shaving soap what do you do with the excess foam in the actual soap container?
I've just started using this, thanks.

Love the video, do you leave soap dish open or rinse off soap and cover? Or leave it open? Thank you.
Thanks for the info! Very helpful.
do u just rinse the foam out of the soap and close the lid after?
Great video!! I've been looking for a good demo like this!!🪱🪱🪱

I just leave it on the sink to dry out for 24 hours, close the lid, then wipe off the outside.
Can you use any cup? Even like a kitchen one?
You can, probably better if it's a little wider. Like a coffee mug.
No, if you use a glass cup it will shatter causing a black hole to engulf us all.

Not sure how I missed this comment. You should be able to use any synthetic brush.

Ive been using a dedicated teaspoon to scoop a little bit iut and lather it up in the soap lid 😂. Works alright but this looks way more effective

Can I use this soap to wash my small beard or is it only to shave?
This is a traditional shaving cream. Soap is a misleading term here. It doesn’t contain anything that would clean your beard or face. The purpose is apply a fatty lubricant to your face to lift the hair away so that shaving is easier.
Get yourself a scuttle where you can fill it with hot water which will make your lather lovely and warm 😊
Thanks for sharing this information.
There was so much left on the side of the tin 😫
First time using a straight razor, have a few cuts, but I figured I would’ve lol. Ended up finishing with a safety razor
So it only says to soak the brush for 3. Do you mean hours or minutes?
3 mins hot water, always.
Soft water works much better than hard water of course.
That’s true, but some people don’t have the option.

when ur dad didn’t teach u how to shave and u have to learn it yourself
For real. These youtubers are doing the world a service.
what is the point of using your hand as well?
Just an option.

Try a Shaving Scuttle
They are nice if you like a warm lather.
What's your favourite colour?
What accent is that? The way he says “sewwwpp” among many other words sounds southern, but I’ve never heard it like this
