How To Lather Hard Soap in a Bowl with a Shaving Brush
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 чер 2024
- Geo demonstrates how to make shaving lather from a hard shaving soap in a Shave Nation Lather Bowl. For this demonstration, he uses the New Shave Nation Ebony Copper bowl. The hard soap is The Goodfellas Smile SOLO shaving soap and the brush is the Simpsons T3 Sovereign Synthetic shaving brush. Someone said that Geo has never used a Shave Nation bowl to lather hard soap. Geo takes umbrage to that statement and sets out to prove that it can, will, and should be done to achieve your ultimate Zen-Like shaving experience! Watch and see what you think.

Geo ALWAYS rises to the challenge!! 👊
There was no challenge. Lol
Ordered a T2 from you a 2 or 3 years ago from you and is my sole shaving brush. Love it and looks brand new despite the abuse I put it through
Great video Geo. Love the bowl. Will have to get one soon. It is on my wish list. Have a great week. 👍
Nice bowls Geo👍👍 They look great, perfect addition to Shave Nation's line up. I've had a copper bowl for some years now, really like how it retains the heat and won't ever break. Good job whipping up that lather, yeah a little water goes a long way but one can get the perfect lather with a little time and effort. Thanks.
Agree. I'm sure I seen a video of you scooping hard soap with your babyspoon into a lather bowl and making terrific later. But nothing wrong with a "refresher course".
Never saw him putting hard soap in his Bumpy bowls when he is promoting them. Only creams.
Great video geo and I just ordered the T3 with a stand for it..last night. Have a great day.
I'm pretty sure I've seen you do this about 10 times with TOBS Sandalwood alone! Great video Geo!
Nice vid, Geo! On the harder soaps, I like to flatten them out with my thumb before applying the brush. Spreads the soap more evenly in the bowl and the heat softens it up a bit. No clue whether it's "better" or not; not the point. As always, it's "whatever works for you". The bowls are beautiful, especially that one with the dark accents! Cheerio. ~Dave
Same way here! If soap is still too hard for scooping, slicing with a knife will work, that is, as long as the soap main puck or bar is not stuck in its own packaging.
That’s the way I used to lather Mitchell’s Woolfat. But they no longer use tallow in that soap, and I stopped buying it.
I keep the bloom water when additional water is needed in the lather bowl. It's already soapy, so why not!
Well done uncle Geo, I have bowl lathered for quite some time now, whenever I’m in a rush I prefer using the canned foams, but always prefer the soap I work in bowl. ✌🏼😎
I want to try the brush someday for my customers because Japanese brushes are kind of smaller than American 's.
Hope you doing alright Geo! Awesome vid man.
I’ve seen you later soap quite a few times! I guess I just admitted to watching all your videos 😂
Those SN bowls are sweet, I’m guessing Geo had a lather party 🎉 🫧
I would also dispute that claim lol. But a great lather nonetheless! I just ordered a couple Shave Nation wide stick alum blocks. Can't wait till they get here. I've wanted one since I first started watching your videos. I had to settle for square block for a little while. But the wait is almost over lol. Keep on keeping on brother!
I have one. They last a loooooong time, so I hope you like it.
@@POOKIE5592 That's great to hear. Much appreciated.
Hello, please tell me which razor is your favorite and which shaving brush, soap, cream and shaving bowl?
Geo, did you wring out the brush first or just enter the brush, full of water, into the bowl?
Do you ring out your synthetic brush or just keep it wet straight from the cup?
Whoa! Love the bowl! Cant wait to get a hold of one. Great vid maestro!
U look all happy accepting the challenge! 😆
It wasn't a challenge. Lol He just turned my comment around so he could promote his copper bowls.
Great new lather bowls ! Great addition to Shave Nation classy shaving inventory !
I noticed that Geo mixed soaps in some previous videos.
Nice video. What I haven't seen you do is to lather in a bowl a really hard soap, like Tabac, DR Harris, Saponificio Varesino, etc. I could be wrong though
@theblackadder8104, are they at least moldable or deformable?
@@10floz30minutes I don't think so. I've read some people heat them and then give them another form, I wouldn't do it though. I prefer to load directly on top of them and then take the brush to a bowl or my face
I’m strictly a face latherer so have no use for that beautiful copper bowl. But it’s beautiful! Someone give me an excuse😂😂
Why waste time lathering a bowl when you could be lathering your face, 😂
@@carfusz haha I guess! I enjoy the exfoliation of face lathering with my pure badger brush
hey my shaving soap has gone all slimy what do i do ?
❤❤❤❤

Hi Geo, have you reviewed Barbarossa Brothers “Ottoman” razor? Someone bought me one for Christmas and I love the weight and the stubby handle but, I cut myself almost to shreds with Feather blades and almost as bad with Astras. I am trying to find out if it is uber aggressive or if it needs a change in technique. Many thanks.
I think I'm going to make a trip to my doctors, my fingers don't swish when I clear the runways 😢
I've been shaving using razors and brushes for many years, but no matter what brush ,soap or process I use, I could never obtain that creamy thick foam. It is always just enough for shaving, so I shrug it off. I think I'm cursed with feeble foam.
It's your water, try half distilled half tap water.
@@Daithi_mk I will try this.
Nice try. The bumpy bowl Geo. I said we noticed you always use creams in the "Bumpy" bowls. Never see you use harder soaps in the "Bumpy" bowl. That is because the "Bumpy" bowl is better suited for shaving creams is why. But a guy could load the brush from the container then build lather in your "Bumpy" bowl. Wish I would of thought of that before I canceled my order. Yes I can lather like you did in this video in my Capts. Choice copper bowl, Fine Accoutrements bowl, my CaYuen Workshop bowl, and even a smooth glass Pyrex bowl. Stay safe up there! -Everett
Comically opposite Situation for me I didn’t realize you can scoop the hard soap I’ve just been loading tips this whole time
Geo, you did not shave the whole beard.
That's not hard soap. Williams is hard soap.
FYI-Williams has been discontinued for a few years. And-it makes no sense to break off a piece of hard soap to mix it in a lather bowl. Just load the tips and face lather or go to a bowl and swirl for vast amounts of lather.
@@geofatboy I'm aware of all of that. The video title says "How To Lather Hard Soap in a Bowl with a Shaving Brush". The soap you used is soft.
@@RoderickGMacLeod But it is not a cream.
@@everettthompson8301 the video title literally says *checks notes* "Hard Soap".
Sometimes I use a definitely hard, physically hard soap. It is Pears Transparent Soap. No blooming! No load from the bar/puck! I use a knife to scrape peices from it and firmly flatten onto the bottom of my shave-lathering bowl.
