3rd day trying the go pro camera in surf@huntington cliffs. i didn't know how well it would stay on, but it survived 3-6ft surf with just the sticky mount.
@evilLazman the stick ons are pretty reliable.i have them mounted on two different spear guns,they are able to handle the recoil,without coming off under water. again,i have them tethered the same way i have it on my board,just to be safe. the helmet strap seems cool,but i havent used it yet so i dont how well the straps hold when wet. the biggest concern i have it that the small plastic pieces at the joint of the mount could snap off completely under too much strain. id' use a leash to be safe
@evilLazman just with the go pro surf mount, stuck just to the side of my leash plug. then i had the black string tied to the hinge on the housing, and tied on the other end to the base of my leash for safety (in case the stick on mount failed)

@evilLazman what are you referring to when you say"gath lid"? and, are you talking about the sticky helmet mounts, or the strap on one?
