    I have this projector and its super awesome, CEC works flawless and it remembers the last input that was selected. As for projected light beyond the borders of his screen, well, I can say is that he doesn't know how to configure the unit, little bit of movement and problem is fixed!

  • @justinbeamon6624
    @justinbeamon6624 Рік тому +4

    I would say turn those lights off and then see the true black levels. Also you can just add velvet around the screen, like you said the over splash is an issue with all the UST's. I'm glad you pointed those out, these are all issues most people don't understand or don't know exists. Thanks!

    • @CellophaneDreamsCreations
      @CellophaneDreamsCreations  Рік тому +1

      Agreed, I just didn’t want to have black velvet when I combined that with other issues I mentioned. Yes turning off those lights get the black levels but it also gets the halo :( interestingly when I spoke to epson their rep told me this projector is “meant to be” seen with ambient light, that’s their main use case.

    Thanks for the video! These kinda videos are the realest and can really show you the minor flaws/problems, that a reviewer might miss because you actually use it in your everyday life.
    Top comment says first world problems, but if you're paying first world money you bet I want it to be good in every way.
    Read your comment you got a LS12000 Instead? How's your experience with that one compared to this?

    • @CellophaneDreamsCreations
      @CellophaneDreamsCreations  4 місяці тому

      Thanks for your comment as I appreciate that.Yup, I'm not a professional reviewer but just a normal user and wanted to make sure people see these issues. I know a friend who has this same projector who told me he doesn't have any halo, and then I went to his house and showed the halo in first view! So not everyone cares or sees the same thing. However, the halo is not a voodoo magic either, it's fairly real and well documented in various forums. Regarding LS12000, I am very happy with it. I had to return the first unit as it had excessive fan noise, but the replacement unit (a new one, not refurbished) is good enough.

    Maybe adding soft LED lights surrounding the screen will get rid of the screen shadow.

    A good universal remote solution can alleviate a lot of these issues, with macros/scenes, instead of having the units turn each other on and off with CEC. Granted, that's another investment, and there aren't a lot of great ones out there now that Logitech have killed off Harmony. Can still get some Harmony units, though, and there's a new kid, YIO Remote Two, in the works. This Epson is basically the only UST with a really short throw, so it's the only really easily installed UST. The others require much more distance to the wall, and the screen has to move up a lot, which is bad. I'm curious as to what screen that is, is it an Epson ambient light rejecting one or just a white one? I would hope ALR, to get remotely the max performance this can offer.

    Most UST projectors / TVs / AVRs have minor issues here and there. Specially around HDMI CEC, remote controls, etc. They are not perfect. My VAVA projected had CEC issues just like the Epson. I have do disable CEC on some devices so it doesn't loop.

  • @Leo-tf7gu
    @Leo-tf7gu 4 місяці тому +1

    You need to put at least 1ft space between the wall and your Klipsch speakers.

    I have the cheaper Epson EH-LS650. I have none of these 'issues'.

    Ah the nasty over splash/halo around the screen. One of the annoying discoveries I made after I got my ust projector :(. Very few reviewers mention it. Thanks to point this out! I was hoping the epson, which uses 3-lcd instead of dlp, does not have this issue. My projector broke down recently and I am looking for a replacement. I will get a ust again since I use it a lot during the day, plus I already have the screen... Looking at the epson for its very good input lag and very short throw ratio. One thing I did to reduce the halo around the screen is to place the projector slightly closer so that the displayed image is slightly smaller than the screen. Try this and see if the halo disappear

    • @CellophaneDreamsCreations
      @CellophaneDreamsCreations  Рік тому +3

      Thanks for the comment, I actually tried to move the projector much closer to the screen and it still didn’t help. I finally replaced this with LS12000 and I can tell you that I can still watch stuff during daytime with windows open partially. I actually find LS12000 with AEON Cinegrey 3D screen with 2600 lumens is brighter and punchier than LS800 and aeon CLR3 Screen with 4000 lumens. The LS12000 has other issues (mostly quality) but it has none of the “design issues” that USTs have and yes no halo!

    • @riteshramtohul6746
      @riteshramtohul6746 Рік тому

      @@CellophaneDreamsCreations nice, you got a really good projector. Was looking at the ls12000 too but it was outside of my budget. In the end, I got the hisense pl1. Not the most high end projector and it also has the halo issue.. But it plays dolby vision (though it lowers the light output, usable only in a dark room) and the lens is much sharper than my previous projector.

    I like the picture on my LS800, but the Android TV and stupid remote are definately issues. My sound bar stopped working in the ARC port (used to turn on if I manually selected the source, but now wont even do that). I do see the light splash sometimes, but doesnt really bother me. My Apple TV cant learn the Epson power-on IR codes for some reason. Due to some recent firmware bug (not like this when I bought it) the stupid projector will turn itself on randomly if you use the sleep mode instead of true power off. So while I enjoy the picture it puts out, yes, this thing has issues. I want one without the Android TV and without the speakers. Would be perfect then. Overall I cannot recommend this and I am probably going to sell this and get an 80" TV or some other LST.

    The biggest concern I see here is the keystoneing the rectangle picture is not linear at all. That should be addressed initially. By moving the projector back a few inches.
    All these other complaints are annoyances.

    • @CellophaneDreamsCreations
      @CellophaneDreamsCreations  Рік тому

      That’s not the issue, I was working on my screen before I shot the video and had to remove the double sided tape that used to keep it flat so it shows crooked. As I said in the video there was no keystone or digital corrections applied - all setup was physical projector positioning

    Maybe because you bought the wrong screen for a UST. Thin bezel : bad choice.
    I have bought a floor tensionned screen for my Formovie Theater, 2 advantages :
    1) I don’t have the halo
    2) Everything is hidden when not in use
    I really don’t see the point of having a big screen hang to the wall all the time even when you don’t use it. The advantage of projection is to hide a big screen in the ceiling or in a floor tensionned screen case.

    • @CellophaneDreamsCreations
      @CellophaneDreamsCreations  Рік тому

      The border of the screen had to be 5” wide if it had to guard that halo, or it needed a lip (like Hisense screens) but they are not sufficient either is what I heard

      There are lots of advantages of a fixed screen. I've had a dedicated home theatre room in my last 3 homes, and a fixed screen is all I've ever used. No waiting, no image movement, perfectly flat all the time, no projector adjustment required. A retractable screen is always a compromise. If you don't have a dedicated room, then sure.

    Your first problem number one you can go in the settings and turn off that startup screen to the last screen display so it won't go straight to Epson home screen I had to turn that off because it was doing mine too but that's a easy fix the third problem was the fire stick that when you turn it off it turns off everything so you can go into the settings of the firestick and turn off HDMI control remote and it will stop controlling all your items that's hooked up to it and your second problem it's going to have that Halo around the screen so is no way to fix that but that projector can look ten times better I got a setting on my that make it look identical like a TV black levels and good contrast and popping colors and very sharp if you want to know the settings let me know and I will definitely give it to you it will blow your mind they literally asked me how I was able to do that with this very bright projector

      @CellophaneDreamsCreations  Рік тому

      Is that setup of the first problem under epson projector setup or android tv setup? I searched for something like that all over the manual and even called the epson tech and they couldn’t tell me.
      The power off and on problem > well I do need CEC power on and off, I could do it with other TVs and projector connected to home theater. But I don’t know if it’s firestick epson combination issue

    I just want to say. Incorrect information. You can get atmos from android TV. And on this projector. Sorry this is absolutely incorrect information. Secondly. The halo can be very easily solved with the correct paint on the wall, or some velvet or screen led's lots of options. As for the remote You just need to configure it right. Hdmi cec works flawlessly on my side.

      @@CellophaneDreamsCreations Could also get a slightly taller cabinet. With this Epson, you could, since it has the shortest throw distance on the market. Getting that center 20 cm higher would make a difference. It's true though that placing a center is a real problem with an UST, ideally it should be in the wall behind an acoustically transparent screen (this is true for all displays and projectors; it's just not easily achievable in all cases.)
