My Tiller won't start!

- I thought it was the spark plug at first because I could not see the spark in the daylight. It turned out to be a small piece of debris in the carburetor because it started right away after shooting compressed air in the carburetor.
Had the very same problem with my two year old Craftsman Tiller today and thought there was no spark either. After watching your video I tried putting gas in the Carburetor it started...then stopped. Once I cleaned the Carburetor out it ran great! Thanks for the tip and saving me a trip to the store....or the local Small Engine Repair Shop!
Good job ! Now , show us what you re gonna be planting in that beautiful planter box !
Keep em coming. Love your vids!
Sylviane , will do for sure. Cheers neibour!!
I've had this about four months and have found it to be an aggressive and powerful rig. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxjo0FLo5z3Y_qUcT3vSlOqpMaMdFjvsXa I've used several others in the past and the Sun Joe surpasses these, easily. I note that several people have commented that it bounces on rocky and compacted soil. I believe that would be the case with all tillers - the ground does need to be "broken", either with a larger tractor type unit or with a shovel, and rocks need to be removed. I'm living on a Pike silt loam here in the midwest and the Sun Joe turns my garden to bug dust in two quick passes. I use a technique where I do a short 2 foot run then pull it back and let it go over it again.
I wish there were more videos out there about this same tiller, because its the same one I have, and this is the only video i could find about it
I know, what's up with that
Me to
Thank you! I am going to try the same as my tiller isn't starting.
You fixed it well I'll just be damned. Scooter said it couldn't be fixed
the part of the video that shows you pulling the starter cord over and over is hilarious. Especially when you play it back at high speed and the whole tiller starts following you. I've done that myself so many times and I always feel like an idiot when that happens. Thanks for the laugh.
That's a beautiful place you got there . 👍
Im happy to see that it works now! Oh and you look way more confident in front of the camera videos after videos, it's a really good thing keep going!
Docteur Correcteur. Cheers!
Thanks for the video, I broke off the plug on my bronco tilller with the 5.5 intek engine....2:38 told me to use a RC12YC after I get the old plug drilled/reamed out
PS shoot the plug with penetrating oil at least 1x per year to avoid embarrasment
THANK YOU! I have a Matis tiller with a Honda GX25NT3 25cc engine. I replaced the carburetor as the throttle cable stay had broken off the original carburetor. I found a replacement carb for less than $15 on Amazon, put it on the tiller and it started right up. I killed the engine and when I next tried to start it, I could not get it to run -just sputter a bit with starting fluid. Just when I was beginning to feel stupid and frustrated, I watched this video, removed to carb, shot some air through it, reattached it, and it started on the 1st pull. Must have got some dust in it. Again thanks.
I'm happy that my video helped you!
That compost looks like what comes out of the horse barn . Did you say it was in a pile?
Thank you! With your help I didn't have to bother my Father with the usual (i broke the tiller, again!).... Now if only you could help with my 99 Ford.....😊
Wow, never seen a pretty 4'x8' box rototilled. New by me.
I suggest using a trowel. For the plug, add a little axle grease to the threads for anti-seize.
Yep. Some days I think I have seen everything, and then someone posts a video of rototilling a planter box. What next, digging postholes using dynamite?
That is also a first for me as well. I have never seen anybody rototill a planter box! It's physically exhausting just watching him do it LOL A shovel, rake, hoe, and my bare hands is all I need for that job. There is nothing wrong with spading soil with hand tools, It'll make a man out of ya!!
Thank you so much
Should have tried pouring some buttermilk in the gas tank to help make it start
Just out of curiosity, have you ever watched the Red Green Show? Enjoyed the vid.
Can you show how the reverse return spring is
I have a craftsman tiller / cultivator small one , sitting for a year wouldnt start , I sprayed either in filter got it running and used it to turnover my garden ! next day pulled out plug to get new one couldnt find one so Im still using old one ! I changed the oil in it and clean the sponge like filter and guess what happens now it dont start at all even with the either in it ! I have no clue what happened , can some one assist ?
It's almost never the ignition system. when storing equipment for the winter good idea to remove all the fuel and burn off any residue by letting the engine run until it misfires due to lack of fuel. Fuel residue [ with all the additives ] tend to become gelatinous and block the passages. I love rear tine counter rotating tillers.
Hey I like your program show
I took the easy/lazy way out and swapped in a new carb. All is well again. Less than $20 and it is a quick swap.
Lol when the plug broke 💔 🤣
A million years ago I use to play with my favorite butterfly that had long legs and wore a miniskirt
The way he brought it was cool
Mine still keeps dying 😢
Does your raised bed have a bottom or is it bottomless where it extends into the ground?
bottomless
That engine makes me cuss. I had to laugh when you broke the spark plug as I did the same thing the first time it would not start. Here I am again pulling it out for the season and it is not starting. The float valve was stuck the last time but its free this time. Will have to go double check the plug and blow out the carb I guess.
Maybe they will make electric tillers soon? 😉
Finally found the same tiller. Are you going to make a video on changing the belts or can you share a picture of the way they are routed?? Printed schematics don't do a good job.
It's always the damn carb
I seen the thumbnail pic and thought it was a Red Green video 😂
"oh no!!!" lol
Hey needed to flip the switch to run.
Huh ?! Tiller on a raised bed ?! Just a digging fork its more than enough! And faster. Regarding engine, OHV or Briggs they are very good. By sound your engine it's great. Carburetor needs maintenance for sure. Cheers
came to see how to fix a rototiller and saw and idjut break a spark plug.... at that point, I'm not gonna learn anything here🤣
man i hate the tiller i have, nothing but issues starting these things it seems like everyone has a issue
Rototiller in a planter? Seen everything now.
Andrew D I use a tiny electric one in raised beds, but only if I'm adding amendments. That big tiller is over kill in that bed! 😂😂
Dovey62 it's called work smarter not harder
Scott Keller Truth! I could never lift that huge thing into a raised bed!..I know, use a ramp. But raised beds weren't meant to be tilled. That's the whole point of them! Don't upset the fauna!
@@Dovey62 You should see him till his flower pots
@@robertpeters2741 😂😂
Hi, me and my friend has same issue. How hard to take appart carburator?
Did you get your tiller going yet??
Lots a problems with small engines since they brough out 10% alcohol in the gas...I only burn high test in the small stuff....saves a lot of problem...not saying but just in case.....SALUTE
Yeah that's true. Having a Briggs and Stratton don't help. Will make sure I have a Honda engine on my next tiller. Cheers!
Ya Briggs and Stratton...I remember when I was young Briggs was the only thing to have but then came Honda and blew them out of the water....them Honda are tough but you have to keep them on High test....normal gas does not cut it eny more....talt to JP about the Honda...all the small engines on the farm are Honda except chainsaw and whipper...but you can`t beet them but you pay a premium for them.....SALUTE
Ya , I always say you get what you pay for.
You need a bigger garden.
The video didn’t show you working on the carburetor. Less video of fields and dirt, more of the fix you actually did
All I need to know is how to crank not all that other stuff.
It helps to if you cuss and call it a couple names
put a filter and shut off on the fuel line. when you go to put it up shut the fuel off while it's running so there's no gas in the float bowl.
Allen McKinney , thanks for the tip!
French River Springs no problem. todays Obama gas will gum up a carb if it sits too long. i had a carb once that was so bad my buddy that rebuilt it for me had to leave it in his acid bath for a week just to get it apart.
Allen McKinney, ya I heard lots of problems with bad gas. I'm getting really excited now to see more and more tools that are battery operated. I think I will buy the Dewalt electric chainsaw. Cheers
I do that on my old 91 Harley, a few blocks from home, reach under an shut gas off,
by the time I get to the house, she's sputtering, so till the next ride, no gas in the carb,
generators same thing. unplug the loads and then shut off gas valve. every few
months I start it up and plug a load in like a blowdryer.
My grandfather always taught me if you pull it over ten times and it doesn’t start that you definitely need some viagra...
Nah jokes aside over ten pulls and something is wrong stop pulling and change or clean check spark plug, drain fuel if old and if that doesn’t do it then you need to go deeper, check filters, throttle working n then carby...
Clean the carb.
Had to attach weight to the front of my Troybuilt Bronco to get the lousy thing to move forward. Bad purchase.
Odd, mine works perfectly. 10 years.
that pile is spent horse fuel.
French Canadian?
Why is this a gardening vido?
🤣
: z
e' molto pericoloso quello che hai fatto, meglio a mano.
holy crap what a waste of time
Get to the point
You talk to much about everything before showing how you fixed the tiller,,no care about all the other stuff
such a waist of my time.!! could have cut to the chase the last 3min. Im not even going to finish listening to you
You literally wasted my time 😂 And showed nothing of value. Take this video down for the betterment of humanity
I mean, it's not like he forced you to watch the video. And he explained how he got it running anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
